I like nothing about this chapter. It was a pain to write and is riddled with errors but at least it’s something. I feel bad about not uploading anything in ages. So happy reading! For the Readers of “Thank You”, I’ve taken this down to tweak the chapters and clean up all the errors :)
Hot breath trickled at her ear, rocketing shivers down her spine. Sakura opened her mouth to speak but the jade eyed glare quickly silenced her into submission. She bit her lip as the sand ninja inhaled the scent of her pale pink locks. Her hands had slipped onto his arms to rest against the shuddering muscles and tendons for much needed support. Sakura was not sure how she ended up sitting on the reception desk of the Konoha Medical facility; her pink haired head captured in the calloused hands of Gaara as he continued to breathe her in. He had approached her dangerously while she was leaning against the counter and, instead of shoving her roughly against the desk and proceeding to have his way with her as she had initiatively expected, the redhead simply embraced her tightly. Such a kind and delicate reaction from his both pleased and frightened her.
The shinobi children lost track of time, simply basking in each other’s warmth. Sun-like rays radiated off of Sakuras ivory coloured skin, creating spurs of thirty degrees heat that lapped against the exposed skin of Gaara. Tilting her head in his grip as gently as he knew how, Gaara and Sakura let their green eyes meet; tones of teal and gradients of green crashed against each other. For a fraction of a second, Sakura saw what she assumed was Gaara’s soul; bleak, hurt and fractured. It pained her for a moment, seeing such vulnerability in the ruthless sand shinobi become suddenly in her presence. With a furrowed brow, the sand shinobi opened his mouth to speak when he suddenly silenced himself; growing still beneath her.
“That room service thing was just spiteful you know. Six hundred Ryos on food!”
“I was hungry.”
“Nine Hundred Ryos on a bottle of Sake!”
“I was thirsty”
“And almost Two hundred Ryos on entertainment”
“I was lonely”
Sakura watched as Gaara jerked his head in the direction of offending noise, a low and heated hiss escaped his lips. In a flash, he tore himself away from her grip regretfully, taking a moment to trail his fingers over her beautiful features for a few seconds before suddenly turning and disappearing in a whirlwind of gold sand droplets. It had all happened so fast that Sakura had no chance to stop him.
Sakura slid off the desk just in time for two Doctors whom she recognized rounded the corner, Doctor Hyuuga and Doctor Yamanaka. The blonde looked like she had seen better days; her hair spilling out from its neat ponytail, large blue eyes dull and her clothing ruffled. As soon as she saw Sakura standing sheepishly beside the reception desk, the blonde suddenly brightened.
“Ah Sakura! There you are! I’ve been meaning to speak with you. I’ll just put these reports in my office and I’ll be right out”, The blonde doctor stated cheerfully, her slim arms wrapped around three thick binders of medical reports. Sakura watched her hiss something at Doctor Hyuuga before strutting off in the direction of her untidy office, leaving the white eyed doctor to hobble over to Sakura with a fiendish intent sparkling in his phantom eyes.
“You know, hanging around outside my office is going to give you a bad name. Not that you don’t have one already”. Sakura suppressed a groan and spun around to face the offending Hyuuga; a slim finger extended to push against his chest.
“Men should grow up.” A sly grin crossed the lips of the Hyuuga doctor and Sakura immediately regretted her words the moment they had left her mouth. No doubt he would have something horrid to say.
“And Dogs should stop licking themselves. It’s not going to happen.” Doctor Hyuuga remarked idly, leaning on his silver stripped cane. It caught Sakura’s attention rather quickly for the cane had been a simple black one when she first met him.
“You got a new cane. What’s the occasion?” Sakura asked, looking anywhere besides from the Hyuuga doctor. The said doctor paused and stared at his shinobi sandals that had certainly seen better days.
“Yeah. Guy in the store said it was slimming.” She raised her pink haired head to meet his eyes found herself locked in a battle yet again – emerald green clashed with phantom white for a few seconds before the good doctor cleared his chest; a grizzled and irregular sound erupted from the throat of the grumpy doctor.
Sakura didn’t know how wrong she was.
“You’re not pregnant by the way,” The good doctor suddenly announced, causing the young ninja to do a double take.
“What!?”
“You’ve just got a parasite. Don't worry. Many women learn to embrace this parasite. They name it, dress it up in tiny clothes, arrange play dates with other parasites...” Sakura glared hatefully at the older doctor and felt her lips curl into a snarl.
“Jerk! You are so not funny! Why on earth are you even employed here?” she growled, clearly unimpressed.
“Because the blonde bombshell gave me everything I asked for because one night I gave her everything she asked for”, Doctor Hyuuga countered with a grin.
While the Doctor was silent for once, Sakura finally got a chance to examine his feature more closely. He couldn’t have been any more than forty with pale lavender eyes that were darker than most Hyuuga’s menacing orbs. Time had started to catch up with him; pulling at the corners of his eyes and brow. He was unshaven, unkempt and did not wear the regular pristine white lab robe that most of the other medical shinobi wore. Although rough and gruff to his patients, he wordlessly supported her situation without judgement.
The thought was actually quite ludicrous. She, Haruno Sakura, was carrying the demon hybrid sired by the infamous Sabaku No Gaara. She was old enough to still be wearing training bras for crying out loud.
She rested her head in her palm, a curious and thoughtful expression lingering upon her pale rose coloured lips. After the initial shock of the situation had finally dispersed, Sakura felt a sudden twinge of excitement. Too long had she been stuck on a daily routine of following Naruto and Sasuke whenever life happened to take them- to be left standing on the sidelines while her friends had amazing and life changing experiences that were unexplainable and unreal. Naruto had done it countless times and Sasuke always strived to be the best – always followed closely by Naruto of course. As much as she loved Sasuke and even Naruto, both had the uncanny tendency to be extremely predicable. It was not a bad quality and she had not noticed it until she had become...involved with Gaara. So wild and erratic, so much to a point where she had to tread carefully around him but that thought alone excited her. The red head minded her of a young stallion; wild, dangerous and completely irresistible. Had Sakura been on the outside looking in, she would have noticed the gleam of excitement and anticipation that shone in her own usually indifferent green eyes. The Hyuuga doctor must have seen it too for he suddenly looked at her curiously, a knowing twinkle shining in his pale lavender coloured orbs.
“What are you thinking of Miss Haruno. Oh wait! Don’t tell me, he’s red haired with mood swings worse than a troubled child on crack,” his voice drawled out with a playful edge lining his words and a smirk plastered on his lips. Sakura returned his grin with venom and sugar laced one of her own.
“Gaara is a troubled child on crack.” The Hyuuga doctor chuckled in agreement and leaned against his new cane as a serious expression marred his usually placid features.
“The Hokage needs to be told,” The Hyuuga doctor remarked with an uncharacteristic frown upon his weathered face. Sakura felt her heart sink into her stomach and the small traces of hope was dashed before her very eyes.
“I know”, she mumbled, her soft voice barely above a whisper.
“I proposed to the Hokage that he should invite the Kazekage to Konoha earlier” Doctor Hyuuga remarked, causing the young woman to cringe inwardly.
“You didn’t tell him why though did you?”
“No, I left that joy to you”
“How Kind”
“I know”. Sakura cocked a fine eyebrow at the good doctor and felt the corners of her mouth quirk up into a smile.
“What did he say?”
“He was convinced I was up to something but he agreed none the less”
“I don’t know whether to thank you or kick your skull in”.
“Just put a good word in for me with that sex bomb of a Doctor, Yamanaka.” Sakura grinned knowingly and reached out suddenly to place a hand upon the arm of the weathered Hyuuga Doctor.
“Thank you. Thank you so much.”
