R+R NO FLAMERS PLZ!

After lots of pouting, kicking, protesting, and screaming (mostly screaming), Sara was off to boarding school. An international boarding school in France called Kadic College, which was for grades 6-12. At least there was an upside: Guys. Nevertheless, the downside was she would have to be a boarder, and give up the flashy Florida lifestyle she loved so much. Sara reminisced about the beaches, the malls, and the many, many, many CSI shoots that took place outside her Miami apartment. She posted a giant poster of a dolphin over her bed as a knock on the door alerted her to a visitor “Hello Sara! I’m Jim Morales! I’m the resident teacher here in the dorms.” He chose a stance like one of those victory statues, as Sara stared at him as if he was a dragon sun tanning. Jim realized what he was doing and turned red as he ran out of the room saying something along the lines of “ifyouneedanythingI’mhere” Sara sighed and set up her laptop, along with the rest of her clothes, mostly blue jeans and Daytona racing shirts thrown in with a mess of Polos.

By 5:00, students started trickling in from their winter vacation, listening to ipods, talking with friends, slamming doors, and the whole nine yards. Sara had another visitor, this time, she was sure this girl was not a friend. “Well, well well .” sniffed the girl who had shoulder length black hair, held up with the most hideous yellow headband, and the weirdest taste in blue jeans and tops in the history of ever. “Look what the mid-year dragged in. And from Florida? How disgusting.” Five seconds with this person and Sara wanted to slap her. “And who might you be?” said Sara, getting steadily annoyed at this person. “Sissi Delmas. The principals’ daughter” She sniffed, shoving superiority in Sara’s face. Sara was tempted to put Sissi in her place, Miami style, but instead, she decided to do it coolly. “And that makes you better than the rest of us why?” she asked, with a hint of challenge in her voice. Sissi clearly was annoyed with this, and stormed out because she couldn’t give a comeback. Mental note, Miami trash talk won’t work in France, keep cool.

The next day came early to Sara, as she woke up 6:00. She hopped out of bed groggily, put on a Dale Earnheart Jr. shirt, put her books in her bag, and trudged down to breakfast.

Odd Delarobia poked his roommate Ulrich Stern at about 6:00 in the morning. He had never gotten up this early, but there was a first for everything. “Come on Ulrich, its pancake day!” whined Odd. Of course being Ulrich, he doesn’t listen when it’s six in the morning. “What about a XANA attack?” He muttered groggily. “How’d you get XANA attack outta pancake day?” Odd asked, clearly confused. “Ok, I’m up…” Trailed Ulrich, as he got dressed. “’Bout time you two got up” said Jeremie as he walked into the room. “I’ve been up for hours” Odd and Ulrich looked at each other “Working on how to get into the internet, even though we still have Lyoko…” they said in unison, having clearly seen that before. “ Well come on guys” Said Jeremie as he left the room. “It’s pancake day” Odd and Ulrich followed him out.

“Aw man, where am I going to sit?” complained Sara, to herself. She looked around, spotted an empty table, and sat herself down. She stared down at the glop that they called breakfast. She thought it was oatmeal, but she wasn’t going to take the chance. She started on the pancake, and was surprised it didn’t taste bad. Within minutes, she had gone up for seconds. These aren’t half-bad! She thought to herself, looking down at the packet she had gotten in her mailbox that was apparently from the faculty. The class representative was going to be her guide for the next few days. Please don’t give me a geek, nerd, or someone really, obnox- her thought was cut off by a certain class rep. “Excuse me, but are you Sara Greenburg?” Odd sat down across from her. “U-um, yeah. You must be Odd.” She stammered, a bit startled by his entrance. And his hair. “I guess you show me around, then?” she said, a bit uncertain that she was going with, him. “Well, since I’m in all your classes it’ll be hard to lose me!” Odd joked. Sara laughed. “Corny joke, but funny!” she answered. “Well I have more where that one came from,” He said, smiling like there was no tomorrow. “Well where are we off to?” asked Sara. “Physics” answered Odd. “Lemme tell my friends to meet us later.” Sara shrugged “Ok.”

Odd walked over to the table where Jeremie, Ulrich, and Aelita (who had just woken up) were sitting. “Who’s the new friend Odd?” Asked Aelita, eating a croissant. “Her name’s Sara. Mid year admit, and in our grade too. I have to take her around because I’m the Class rep.” Ulrich smirked, and sarcasm laced his voice. “You make it sound like a chore.” “Oh ha ha.” replied Odd, snapping back the comment. “Listen, I have to go, meet you at the spot later?” everyone nodded, and Odd went with Sara to Physics. “I didn’t notice her in the dorms last night,” Commented Aelita. “She probably stayed in her room,” said Ulrich. “That or Sissy scared her out of her wits” Jeremie said with a hint of joking in his voice. “Not that hard to do.” finished Ulrich. Aelita snickered and almost choked on her croissant.

“And that’s how Emc2. Now can anyone other than Jeremie explain” Mrs. Hertz was cut off by the bell. She looked annoyed at the fact that a simple bell had to cut her off. “You’re dismissed. Don’t forget the test on monomials next Tuesday.” She yelled as the class filed out. Odd and Sara met Jeremie, Ulrich and Aelita at their regular bench. “Ok Guys, Meet Sara!” Odd exclaimed, in his “cat like nature.” “Hi.” said Sara, slightly red from running down stairs after physics. “Hi Sara” said Aelita, shaking her hand. “I’m Aelita Stones.” “Nice to meet you.” was the reply from Sara, who kicked herself for not saying something less generic. “He’s Ulrich, and He’s Jeremie.” Aelita gestured to the two boys, who nodded. “Hey!” Pointed out Odd, “Where’s Yumi?”

Yumi Ishiyama was sneaking past the day student lockers, hoping not to be spotted by- “Hey Yumi!” William. Yumi bit her lip and cursed under her breath before turning around with a semi-fake smile. “Hi William…” was the exasperated response from Yumi.

“So what are you doing tonight?” Continued the overexcited William

“Uh, um,” Yumi hadn’t thought of an excuse for that. Then she remembered something she had to do last week “I have to… clean… the… curtains… Yeah, they’re getting filthy and dusty, and my mom is yelling at me to do them so, yeah. BYE!” she mumbled as she walked away. “But Yumi!” William ran after her.

“You think we can get an archery club here? You have everything but the people.” said Sara, looking at the archery range from the bench they were all at. “Ask Jim. I think he did that once…” Ulrich said. Yumi walked over “I bet he’d rather not talk about it” she said as the others chorused in. Sara giggled, “Does he say that often?” Aelita nodded. “Hey? Who’s that?” Said Yumi, blushing because Sara was near Ulrich. “Oh! Right!” Odd exclaimed. “This is Sara, mid years admit.” Sara walked over to Yumi and shook her hand. “Uh, Hi, I’m Yumi” Yumi said. Suddenly a running William sped by “Yumi!” Sara saw this as a threat for some strange reason, and the next thing anyone knew… THUD! William was face down on the ground. “Whoa” said Ulrich, unaware whether he should be rejoicing or acting concerned. “What was that for?” William complained. “Well, don’t charge at people like an angry bull, and they won’t trip you.” Said Sara, matter-of-factly. “I like this girl” Muttered Odd to Jeremie, who nodded. William walked away in a huff, leaving the surprised group to themselves. “Sorry about that” Sara said sheepishly. “Don’t be.” Said Jeremie “He deserves it” Said Ulrich. Sara looked at them quizzically, but passed it by. “So, Odd, you got good aim?” Sara said breaking the silence. “You kidding, aim’s my middle name!” Odd Dashed over. “But don’t we need-” Odd was cut off. “Then let’s go to Jim…” Sara said, pulling Odd towards the gym. As Odd and Sara were walking away, Jeremie was in deep thought. Ulrich was the first to speak. “I think she’s in.” “In what?” said Yumi? “Our group. She’s hanging around Odd so much, when XANA attacks, it’s inevitable.” He looked up and smirked. “And Odd needs a girlfriend.” Aelita giggled, “That too!”

“It sounds like a good idea, Sara, I’ll propose it to the principal” Said Jim, scribbling it on his hand with a sharpie. “Thank you, Jim!” Sara ran out. “Now was that so bad Odd?” Said Sara. “Other than my arm being dislocated from my socket? Not really.” He said as they walked out. It was quiet as they walked back to the dorms. Not many things to talk about, since it was an early let-out day, they only had one class, and it was a very, awkward silence. “Well, uh, what’s for dinner?” said Sara, trying to make conversation. “Peas and carrots, I think.” said Odd, who of course had memorized the dinner schedule. “How do you know?” said Sara. “Well, its Wednesday, so that’s what we usually have.” said Odd, doing his best not to creep her out like all the other girls. “So, do you like anything other than” Odd was cut off by his phone. “Hello?” he said, picking up “Jeremie? Yeah? Now? What’s the… Oh… Ok. Let me get Sara to her room. I’ll be right there. Kay. Bye.” Odd hung up and Sara looked at him quizzically. “what’s up?” she asked. “Uhh, nothing.” he said, but was cut off by a shrill scream, which was followed by a group of students being attacked by ravens. Odd smacked his forehead “Not again!” he groaned “Again?” said Sara, anxiously. “Is your aim as good as you say it is?” said Odd, quickly. “Yeah, but those are” Sara was cut off. “Listen, I need you to cover me. I need to get to this tunnel in the park but you need to hold off those birds, got it?” Odd pulled Sara over to the gym, grabbed the bow and arrows, and handed it over to Sara. “I can’t kill an animal!” blurted out Sara, who was astonished by what Odd was telling her. “Listen, I can’t explain, but you won’t hurt them. Promise.” Odd took her hand. “Now let’s go!”

Sara walked out of the gym, and nothing was there. “This way!” Odd signaled, quietly moving so if the ravens were around, he wouldn’t attract attention. Sara had the bow at the ready, so that if the birds came. “Odd, what’s going on?” said Sara, as Odd removed the cap to the passage in the park. “I’ll explain on the way, but you can’t tell anyone.” Sara nodded, and immediately Odd knew he could trust her. “Ok.” He said once Sara was down. “There’s a supercomputer in the old Renault factory, and there’s a world called Lyoko on it with a Virus called XANA. XANA became intelligent, and wants to wipe out humans, especially me and my friends, because we’re the only ones who can stop him by going to Lyoko. Got it so far?” Odd said , about ready to climb the other ladder. “That is so Space Odyssey 2001.” said Sara “But I believe you. and I won’t tell a soul.” They climbed up, and were met by a flock of crows. They shot towards them like bullets, but dropped to the ground paralyzed in seconds. Sara shrugged “Told you I was a good shot!” “Then let’s go!” Odd said, running towards the elevator. The elevator took them down to the control room, and they walked in. “Wild.” said Sara, in awe. “ODD!” screeched Jeremie, “Why is she here?” “relax Jeremie, she’s Ok, she won’t tell!” “She had better not!” he snapped. “You know she’s right here, and she has a name!” Said Sara. “sorry.” apologized Odd. “So can I join, since it’s an emergency?” pleaded Sara. “Aelita’s almost in the tower. we’ll see once everyone comes back.” “Fine.” said Odd and Sara, in a pouting way.
