A/N: I decided to do a one-shot story, yeah for me now bask in my infinite glory. Yeah…anyways this shot is based on Descendants of Darkness (Yami no Matsuei in Japanese). Just so everyone knows Descendants of Darkness belongs to Yoko Matsushita and not me (if it did do you really think I would be writing a fanfic?). Now that that is all behind us let’s get onto the story shall we!

Cake Gate

(xoxo)

Today was a very special day, it was Tsuzuki’s birthday! Everyone was joining in, getting him a gift; sweets were the most chosen gift. Hisoka wanted to do something more then just get a gift to his partner, so decided it would be up to him to make Tsuzuki a cake!

Last year the cake was a fiasco, made by Watari who managed to burn it and try to hide it with frosting. He had even made the frosting himself, teriyaki flavored. The cake made everyone throw up for weeks, Tatsumi even docked his pay for it, though through persuasion from Watari raised it back up.

Hisoka wanted to make the best cake, cringing at the memory of Watari’s cake. The only problem, Hisoka didn’t have the slightest clue as to how to make one.

Hisoka was busy pouring over cake books in the library when the GuShoShin popped up next to him.

“What’re you doing Kurosaki?” The twins asked at the same time fluttering beside him. Hisoka shrugged concentrating on the cakes.

“Looking for recipes, I want to make this cake right.” Hisoka answered without even turning towards the two. The twins shook their head deciding to help the boy make a cake.

“Okay we’ll help come with us.” They said dragging Hisoka up off his seat and to the kitchen.

(xoxo)

In the kitchen the twins started to pull out pots and pans of all different sizes and taking out the ingredients from the refrigerator. Hisoka watched on with wide-eyed curiosity until the two were finished.

“Okay now what?” He asked the twins who were beaming at him excitedly. The twins smiled at each other then looked back to Hisoka.

“We bake.” They said. The trio stood neither making a move. Hisoka looked to the twins in suspicion.

“Do you even know how to make a cake?’ He questioned. The twins gushed looking to each other.

“No, but we know who does.” They said and flew off. Hisoka watched them go wondering who they were going to get. To girlish voices reached Hisoka’s ears making him cringe.

“Hisoka darling we’re here to help!” Said the girls, Saya and Yuma, the heathens from hell as Hisoka aptly named them.

“No not you two.” He said trying to push them out of the kitchen.

“But Hisoka we know how to make the perfect cake.” Yuma said as she was pushed. Saya nodded her head in agreement.

“Yes we do.” She said enthusiastically. Hisoka stopped his pushing eying them with his critical jade-like eyes. The girls sighed turning to face Hisoka with childish grins plastered on their faces.

“Okay okay we promise not to dress you up, today.” Saya said in reluctance. Satisfied Hisoka handed the girls a pan.

“Okay then help me.” Hisoka said. The girls squealed beginning the cake.

Hisoka watched in awe as the girls finished the cake shoving the pan into the oven.

“Okay now we just set it to bake and wait.” Yuma said happily as they finished.

“So all we do is wait?” Hisoka asked skeptically. The girls nodded with pride. Hisoka shrugged sitting down on the counter to wait out the cake.

The girls and Hisoka had gotten bored of waiting and accidentally fell asleep. When they awoke a strange burning smell reached their noses.

“What’s that?” Saya asked in wonder at the weird smell.

“Ohm bon I think something’s burning in the oven.” Hisoka heard Watari’s voice reach him. He was instantly jerked up realizing the words.

“The cake I forgot all about it.” Hisoka said pulling the oven open. Everyone gazed in to see the condition of the cake.

Hisoka’s spirits dampened when he saw the state of the cake. The cake was burned all over and was sadly misshapen. The girls pulled out the cake gazing down at it sadly.

“Don’t worry we can make another one.” The girls said with hope. Watari was hardened at having to be the bringer of bad news.

“Actually Tsuzuki’s going to be back in a second and the parties all ready.” Watari said sadly. Hisoka was down cast he wanted the cake to be the best for Tsuzuki, the gods knew he deserved it.

“Don’t worry it’ll be okay.” The girls said helping to get the cake off the pan and to clean up everything before heading out to the main hall.

“Come on everyone’s waiting for you.” The chief said his voice floating to everyone in the main hall. People got in their places, Hisoka, Watari, and Tatsumi standing in front of everyone.

“All right I’m coming.” Tsuzuki said following the chief into the hall. Hisoka tired to stay calm his nerves starting to ride up on him.

The hall doors opened soon after and everyone threw up their hands.

“Happy birthday!” They said in unison. Tsuzuki’s face was enveloped in surprise at everyone gathered together just for him.

“Thanks everyone now where are my presents.” He said with the child like joy only he could manage. As if one cue the party started with the opening of the presents.

(xoxo)

The party was fully underway when Hisoka went up to Tsuzuki who was smiling down happily at his partner.

“Hisoka what’s wrong?” Tsuzuki asked when he saw the crestfallen look on Hisoka’s small face. Hisoka sighed looking up to Tsuzuki.

“I’m sorry about the cake.” Hisoka said pointing to the mess on the table. Tsuzuki titled his head in confusion, but he soon realized what Hisoka meant.

“Oh Hisoka I don’t care about that, as long as it was made by you I’m sure it’s delicious.” He said with a grin on his face. Hisoka smiled up at his taller partner happy Tsuzuki was happy, he was feeling quite silly at his attitude.

Of course Tsuzuki wouldn’t mind, he was too kind for being upset at something as stupid as a messed up cake.

“I was just worried you wouldn’t like it.” Hisoka said. Tsuzuki smiled enveloping his partner into a tight embrace.

“It’s like I said earlier as long as it’s by you I don’t care. You mean allot to me Hisoka.” Tsuzuki said. Hisoka was just glad snuggling into Tsuzuki’s muscular chest.

“Okay you love birds come on let’s celebrate.” Tatsumi said in a chiding tone. Tsuzuki and Hisoka turned to Tatsumi grinning up at the secretary.

“Oh right the party.” The two voiced at the same time and laughed. Tatsumi shook his head, a small smile covering his features.

“Yes the parry now come on everyone’s waiting for you two.” Tatsumi said. The three then headed to the crowd who greeted them with open arms and chatter. Hisoka leaned into Tsuzuki and managed to whisper into his ear.

“Happy birthday Tsuzuki.”
