If there was one thing that Jin loved about chaos, it was that the boy never failed to surprise him. With his strange habits of knowing far too much, his mysterious abilities and his divine aura, chaos was an enigma.

So it rather surprised Jin to find out that chaos had never seen snow before. The boy seemed absolutely fascinated with the drifting, frozen water that fell from the sky. Junior, upon finding out that chaos had never seen snow, had immediately jumped up and run to change the weather conditions inside the Kukai Foundation.

Now Jin and chaos were alone on the beach, the smaller and seemingly younger of the two standing at the water’s edge, aqua eyes wide as he stared up into the clouds. Jin had an odd feeling that chaos was far older than he appeared. There was just something about the boy’s eyes that made him think that.

It surprised him that chaos had never seen snow. Jin had never met someone before who had never seen the stuff.

Jin walked down the sand to chaos’ side, watching the excitement sparkle in the aqua orbs. chaos turned to the swordsman, giving Jin a huge smile.

“It’s…so beautiful,” the boy breathed, finding that words were escaping him.

“I still find it hard to believe that you’ve never seen the stuff,” Jin replied, chuckling softly.

“Just that one time in MOMO’s subconscious, but that wasn’t really real, so it doesn’t count,” chaos replied, shrugging a little. “I...lived in a place too warm for snow.”

Jin knew better than to try and get a further answer. There wouldn’t be any point in doing so, as chaos would only dodge the question. No one could figure out how chaos did that. He just manipulated words easily, turning things around before anyone realized.

“It was really nice of Junior to do this,” chaos murmured, closing his eyes and tilting his face up so that he could feel the snow land against his face. Jin didn’t fail to notice that the boy had begun shivering. Well, they had been outside for quite a while and chaos really wasn’t suited for the weather. Jin stood behind chaos and wrapped his arms around the boy, pulling chaos back against him. The shivering gradually stopped and chaos looked up at him, offering a soft smile.

“Thank you…Jin,” he murmured softly. “I didn’t realize how cold it had gotten…”

Jin’s arms tightened around chaos a little more. He didn’t want the other to ever get too cold. Not as long as he was around. He would keep chaos warm, for as long as he possibly could.

The boy relaxed in his arms, closing his eyes and just enjoying being there in the snow, at the beach, in Jin’s arms.

Later that evening found the two back at the Durandel, getting ready to leave to head to Second Miltia. Jin had noticed that chaos seemed a little sad, probably because Second Miltia most likely didn’t have snow right now. He watched as chaos put up a mask, hiding behind it.

Boy was chaos surprised.

There was snow.

It blanketed the ground of Second Miltia, covering everything in white.

chaos couldn’t believe that it was actually snowing here too. This snow wasn’t man-made or controlled. It was real. He paused in his step to look up at the sky, breath coming out in white puffs. Jin smiled and gently guided chaos from the traffic path, moving him off the street and under the overhang of a nearby building.

“Jin…this is…even better than what was on the Foundation,” chaos breathed, looking rather excited. Jin smiled and leaned down, brushing his lips across chaos’ forehead.

“J-Jin…w-we’re out in public…” chaos mumbled, blushing. Jin chuckled, slipping an arm around chaos’ waist. “Jin!”

“chaos, you should realize that no one cares. the others have known for a while that we’re together,” Jin calmly replied. “Really, you never fail to surprise me.” He chuckled softly.

It was night at the Uzuki residence. Jin was watching chaos sleep. The boy was dressed in a simple sleeping yukata, silver hair splayed out behind his head on the pillow. He had spent a good majority of the day out in the garden, playing like a small child in the snow. He had even gotten Jin to have a snowball fight with him. The laughter and delight on chaos’ face had made Jin smile more than he had in a while. The two had stayed outside until both were drenched with snow and shivering with cold. They had retreated inside to a warm bath and hot chocolate.

Now Jin was watching the boy sleep, not wanting to do anything to disturb him. chaos looked so innocent and angelic, one hand resting palm up beside his face. Jin was content to just sit there and watch him.

It had been wonderful to see chaos let down his guard, let down the enigmatic mask that kept his emotions guarded. The fun in the snow that afternoon had let chaos act like a child again, something Jin was starting to think that the boy had never gotten to do.

chaos stirred, as if he knew Jin was awake. Sleep foggy aqua eyes opened and the boy peered up at Jin.

“Mm…what are you…still doing awake?” chaos mumbled, still in the fog of sleep.

Jin smiled.

“I was just watching you sleep,” he murmured, lying down beside chaos and pulling the boy’s body close. chaos snuggled against him, his body soaking up the warmth from Jin’s.

“Warm…” he mumbled, already starting to fall asleep again.

“Go back to sleep, I’m sorry for waking you up,” Jin murmured.

“Kiss first…” chaos said groggily, tilting his face up for one.

“Of course,” Jin chuckled, before gently pressing his lips to the boy’s. “Goodnight, chaos.”

“…night…”
