Chapter 2: Told ya...

Confused that the face before him wasn’t Kairi, Sora felt a brief moment of panic, but after it kicked in, who the person standing in front of him was, the panic turned into pure agony. His jaw dropped and he let the blindfold fall to the ground as the figure in front of him had a similar response.

“Riku?” Sora gasped. His features illuminated his pure dread, and he started yelling at himself in his head. He had shared a paopu fruit with Riku, not to mention the kiss. He was doomed. He might as well be dead and Kairi would never forgive him. Somehow it all had to be his fault, he just knew it. And now his destiny was intertwined with Riku’s forever. All in one day, his little life turned into a living nightmare.

“Sora? But how?” Riku’s eyes were wide open and he couldn’t figure out what had gone wrong either. “In my defense, you’re hand felt like a girl’s, and you kiss like one too.” As he finished saying this, Riku realized that he kissed Sora. Both his best friend, and a guy. He suddenly started spitting towards the ground in effort to get rid of anything that might be there.

“Congratulations.” the event director smiled, “You make a cute couple.”. Sora suddenly hated her for some reason. He looked at her frizzy hair and plain clothes and despised every bit of it. Turning his attention back to Riku, he looked at his misty blue eyes and nearly died. What had happened? The eyes made him dizzy and everything felt sweaty and hot, it was like a bad dream in the middle of a July day. Why?

The next thing Sora knew, he heard Kairi’s voice calling him. “It was just a dream.” he mumbled, yawning and opening his eyes. At first everything was blurry, but as it came to focus, he saw Kairi pacing, Riku leaning against a wall, and a few other people standing around. A man with a red ponytail looked at Kairi, sighing, and Yuffie and Vincent were there too.

“How could this have happened?” Kairi mumbled to herself. She knew very well what had happened, but still couldn’t believe it. Sora realized that it was real, and that everyone was there.

“Easy,” the redhead replied, “We all shared fruit with other people while blindfolded.”.

“Well, we all know that, but how did this happen? How did things get so screwed up?” Kairi was frustrated and upset.

“It’s not that bad. Besides, it was a weird game of chance.” Yuffie shrugged. Kairi didn’t know how Yuffie could be so cool about all of this. They had all just changed their futures before their own eyes and now they had to go on living with them.

“Weird is right.” Reno sighed. “I finally get a chick and she doesn’t even notice me. It’s all Sora! Sora! Where art thou Sora!” the redhead turned to Kairi and made kissy noises of disgust. “You’re in the capable hands of Reno the fearsome now, Babe. Just get over that half-rate bishounen and come back to my place for some lovin.”. As soon as those words touched his lips, Kairi backed up and Sora, quickly accompanied by Riku, gave the man a death glare. All Vincent could do was sigh.

“Reno, stop talking. When you do crap comes out of your mouth.”

“Potty mouth! Reno the Turk-ey is a potty mouth!” Yuffie laughed, hitting him on the head with her fist. The girl backed up just in time to dodge his EMR.

“Damned brat. You know that you’re only jealous that you aren’t my girl instead.” Reno teased. “Besides, I didn’t say anything untrue or wrong. It’s a common known fact that I’m the most wanted man out of all the testosterone bearing guys in here.”. At this point, everyone knew that the slimmest chance of any peace after this incident, was now crushed by this cocky, big mouthed, guy.

“Remind you of someone?” Kairi asked Sora, looking over at their silver haired friend.

“I was just about to ask the same thing.”

Sora and Kairi got a quick “Hey!” out of their friend, causing them to giggle madly.

A few hours later the group was still trying to figure out something to do, exhausted and almost passed out in Kairi’s living room. Yuffie had fallen asleep on Vincent’s shoulder, and he had decided not to move her, fearing that he might wake the young ninja up. Reno had been out cold for about an hour, ever since he had slipped his hand a little too far down Kairi’s back and Riku had beaten him senseless. Those still conscious were fading quickly and still trying to figure out what they could possibly do to get out of the mess.

“Well, we could go on living with our lives and pretending it never happened?” Sora suggested, not able to think of anything else to do. It seemed like an impossible thing to do. He had never himself heard of a way to get rid of the Paopu’s effects and no new ideas were coming from him.

“It would probably just come back to bite us in the asses again.” Kairi sighed. Sora and Riku looked at her in a strange way. She got mad when the simplest words came out of their mouths, and here she was, cursing. They normally wouldn’t see it weird coming out of someone’s mouth, but Kairi’s? The girl looked at them with an annoyed look on her face. “Pardon my French. Is there something on my face?” she asked them sarcastically.

“Nothing.” they both shrugged. Vincent looked at the three frustrated teens and added in something that seemed extremely obvious. “Why don’t you talk to the director of the event. Seeing our situation, it’s inevitable that this has happened before and they probably have a solution.”. Vincent knew that he and Yuffie would need a way out of this mess too. He had cursed himself repeatedly for letting her talk him into this game and now figured that it was probably responsible to find a way to reverse the effects.

The three perked up at the idea and laughed. “Hello freedom!” Riku laughed, hoping that there was some way in hell to get himself back to his previous state.
