“Wesley, I’m pregnant.”
He sat here, in his chair, as he did every day. Having only one thing on his mind.
“I can’t ask you to leave your job, and I can’t stay here.”
His mind was empty, just these words, the last words, echoed through his mind.
“I don’t think that the top of the hellmouth is the perfect place to raise a child.”
He suddenly forgot that he was in his office. He felt like he was there again.
“Can’t you see that this possibly can’t be avoided?”
That hadn’t been a question; it was more like a statement.
“I think that I might even have loved you.”
She had been crying, just like the rain outside, but he could see was her tears.
“Loved you with all of my heart.”
The rain was smashing down on the windows, the rain and hearing his heart break reminded him of England.
“I’m so sorry.”
It had been six years and that conversation was still echoing through his mind when it was raining outside.
It had been six years and he hadn’t seen her, he had done like she asked and stayed away. He can still feel his broken heart, it is still slowly healing, but he knows already that it will never be completely healed.
“Wes?” A voice woke him from his memories.
“Yes.” He sat up straight in his chair and looked up at the owner of voice with a smile.
“You okay?” Gunn asked.
“Yes.” He said, sighing deeply. “Perfectly fine.”
“Okay.” Gunn said and turned around, but turned back quickly. “Oh, just so you know… Amanda’s playing with the files again.” He was relying the mission to tell the little one to not play with the files to Wesley.
“Oh, no. Amanda.” Wesley said and got up from his chair and walked over to the reception desk where he found the little three year old sitting and painting in the files.
“Amanda, what did I say about you doing that?” Wesley asked her, putting the files away from her.
The little girl just looked up at him.
“You are so much better with kids than I am.” Gunn said. “But I am better with the axe than you are instead.”
“The real difference is that I have more patience than you.” Wesley answered.
“It’s not my fault that she starts to cry every time I try to stop her from doing the daily destruction.” Gunn answered.
“Well, actually Gunn.” Weasley turned around to face him. “It is your fault.”
Gunn opened his mouth to answer but got interrupted by the ringing phone. He walked over to it and answered. “Angels Invest… oh, hello Cordy.” His voice turned cheery. “Of course she’s here… no, maybe you shouldn’t bring Connor.” Gunn said but Weasley just sighed, took up the little girl into his arms and walked over to Gunn and snatched the phone out of his hand, keeping him from doing anymore stupid things.
“Hello Cordelia.” Weasley greeted her. “No, I just wanted to talk to you.” Cordelia said something that made him smile. “Of course, Cordelia. You know what Leanne said about having her around other children.”
“Not, children.” Gunn muttered to himself. “Demon babies, just like her own.” He smirked and Wesley shot him an angry glare.
“Yes, she’s still out with Angel. No, killing demons are not the same as dating.” Weasley said annoyed to her. “Bye, Cordy.” He said and quickly put down the phone. “Can you, um… Clean up here?” Wesley said to Gunn and walked away before the other man said anything to complain.
Connor, the spawn of two Vampires, was born three years ago. He seemed to be like a normal child, in no way could you ever tell that his parents were vampires. But Wesley feared the future, how would Connor evolve when he grew up? Would he develop the Vampire characteristic?
Amanda on the other hand was also a child with demonic background. With a full demonic father and half demonic mother, two different species though. Leanne came in contact with Angel about one and a half year ago. Leanne got a job at Angels Investigation and had someone to take care of Amanda, someone that knew that she was different and could handle her if something happened. So far had nothing happened, and Angel got a little over exited that Amanda and Connor was in the same age, which meant that they’d always have each other while growing up.
“Oh you cannot believe what I was doing when I got the vision.” Cordelia came into Wesley’s office twenty minutes and said. She put down a sketching block in front of Wesley. “I was playing with Connor. Suddenly there’s a demon in front of me, I panic and dropped Connor to the ground, It’s just lucky that he doesn’t bruise easily.”
Wesley didn’t listen; he took up the sketch and looked at it. “This is the demon you saw?” He asked Cordelia.
“Yes, it’s not like I would draw a pretty picture of a demon I didn’t see in my vision.” Cordelia stated.
“Sorry, what did you say?” Wesley looked up at her; he had been too busy wondering where he had seen the demon before that he hadn’t paid attention to what Cordelia had been saying.
“Never mind.” Cordelia muttered. “Tomorrow at four.” She said with a louder voice. “In the sewers under the public library.”
“Ah, that’s right. There’s a nest down there.” Wesley remembered.
“Yes, the construction workers will bother them with their construction.” Cordelia finished. “They won’t be happy.”
“I’ll get Angel and Leanne on it when they get back.” Wesley muttered and turned around to find a book he should have somewhere in the bookcase behind him. He found the book and turned back to Cordelia, who still stood in front of his desk. She was staring forward with a distant look in her eyes.
Wesley could easily tell that she was having a vision. Cordelia reached out her hand and whispered to herself. “Who are you?” Then, after a sudden gasp, she snapped her head to the side and seemed to have “awaken” from her vision state. She shook her head and put her fingers on her forehead.
“This still creeps me out every time.” She muttered to herself.
“What did you see?” Wesley asked.
“Nothing more or less.” She answered; she sat down on the edge of the desk, looking out into the office, thinking to herself. “I saw this woman, I think that I know her, but I have no idea how. She was in a library, stacking books back up on the shelves.”
“So she was working there?” Wesley asked.
“I think so.” Cordelia nodded. “She opened this big old book, just on fun. And all of the sudden a…” She didn’t know the right word for it. “A hole opened… no wait, Portal is a way better word, and she was sucked through it.”
“Alright.” Wesley said. “What library was it and when will this happen?”
“I don’t know, maybe a library here in L.A. And about the time I don’t know either, all I knew that it isn’t until a few months.” Cordelia said, she stood up from the table. “Let me get some time to think about it.”
She started to walk toward the door, but before she leaved she turned back to Wesley. “Maybe I knew her in High School. I’d better check that up.” She said and walked away after that.
A/N; I know that this is short, but I just wanted to post something and say that I haven’t forgotten about this story. It’s just going very slow. Please review, and please vote on my poll.
