Once lost, now found

The eyes of an adult
Weary with pain

I look into your eyes
And I see
Tender gentleness

I look into your eyes
And I see
A ruthless determination
Ice-like coldness

I look into your eyes
And I see...nothing
The lifeless stare of the departed.

I look into your eyes
And I see that
You are lost to me forever.
