"Did you hear how the surgery went?"
"I heard everything went as planned."
"Damn, hope Shawn's back soon."
"I heard the damage was pretty bad thought."
"Yeah could be months before he comes back."
Adam did his best to ignore the gossip and chatter of everyone on the roster. He was actually kind of glad he didn't have a match that night. He'd just been too distracted as of late and he knew the longer his mind was somewhere else the more likely it was that he or someone else was going to end up injured. He sat there by himself and stared out into space as the voices of the locker room occupants floated through his mind.
"But he was talking about retiring a few months ago."
"I think it's time for him to hang it up anyway."
"He needs to walk away while he can still walk. He's not Ric Flair."
"Hey Adam."
Adam shook his head and blinked a few times. "Huh?" He looked up and saw Chris Benoit standing there. "Oh, hey Chris. I just zoned out for a minute there." He stretched a little bit and moved over for Chris to sit down.
"You've been doing it a lot lately."
Adam just shrugged. "I've had a lot on my mind as of late."
"It's because of..." Chris paused and sighed. "MICHELLE?"
"Yeah, I guess you could say that."
"I don't know what reason she gave you-"
Adam put a hand on Chris' shoulder. "Trust me. It's a pretty damn good reason."
"Then you know."
Adam looked at him puzzled. "Know what?"
"That Shawn and MICHELLE have a lot in common."
Adam felt the color drain from his face. How the hell did Chris know? "Wait a minute. You know about Shawn's little monthly thing?"
Chris nodded. "Yeah. It happened before Wrestlemania 20. I'd gotten a note to come to Shawn's hotel room because he wanted to discuss our match with Hunter. I get in there, Shawn's standing right in front of an open window, full moon shining through. I saw him change right then and there." He looked at Adam and then looked away. "I wanted to tell you but I was hoping Shawn would."
"Yeah, he told me." Adam hung his head and ran his hands through his hair. "I just- I don't-" Then he remember something from when Shawn confessed to him. When he'd asked him how many other guys he'd slept with he'd told him four. "You and Shawn-"
"Yeah."
"Even though you knew it was Shawn? I mean I didn't know."
Chris just shrugged and smiled a little bit showing that missing tooth. "She was VERY convincing."
"Must have a thing for a Canadians huh?"
Chris busted out laughing.
"What?"
"Yeah, I guess you could say that. And blondes from what I know."
Adam stared down at the floor. Chris wasn't mad about it... Come to think of it he wasn't either anymore. Now inside he felt almost empty and cold. "You took it better than I did."
"What do you mean?"
"He told me and I went into a rage. I know I punched him once, I might've even done it a second time. I can't really remember a whole lot." Adam looked up at Chris. "I feel bad about it now. And since then, I've tried to act like nothing happened between us."
Chris sighed. "There's something else isn't there?"
"You want the truth?"
Chris nodded.
"I think actually, I- I'm-"
"Mr. Hickenbottom, I'll be running to the store now. If there's anything you think you need let me know." The petite brunette smile at Shawn as she put his leg up on a pillow.
"Hmmph," Shawn said staring at his knee. It'd become his standard answer over the last week.
The brunette, Lisa, who was Shawn's caretaker for a month just continued smiling. "I'll pick you up some chocolate ice cream then." She gathered up a few things and started to leave the room. "I've programmed my cell phone number into yours if you need anything while I'm out. Just don't try to get up or anything I should only be twenty minutes." Then the doorbell rang. "Oh! That must be Hunter! He said he was dropping by today."
"I know that." Shawn just rolled his eyes. "He told me." He looked over at the clock as Lisa left the room. It was only one in the afternoon. Hunter wasn't supposed to be here until around seven. Odd. He couldn't wait for Hunter to get there so he could kick him in the nuts with his knee brace.
Hunter had gotten the idea to get Shawn a live in aid for a month. Shawn didn't have a problem with it until the hot little brunette girl showed up at his doorstep. It was obvious Hunter wanted her to aid him with more than just regular, old, everyday tasks. Lisa was a nice girl but she was so cheerful all the time and it made Shawn a little sick to his stomach. He often responded to her with grunts, growls and sometimes even yelling. But, she never left him and never made an attempt to call Hunter (that he knew of) and bitch him out for leaving her here.
"I'll be back in a couple of hours Shawn!" Lisa yelled from the hall.
Yep, Hunter must've came early and given Lisa a few hours off. Good, the poor girl deserved it. Shawn made a mental note to apologize to Lisa after her month was over. Until then... He closed his eyes and laid back on the small bed he was laying in. Lisa had decided that Shawn should stay in the downstairs guest room so he wouldn't have to trek up and down the steps everyday. It was a smart decision. He awaited the arrival of Hunter and pretended to be asleep.
Shawn almost fell asleep as the minutes ticked by. He hadn't gotten a whole lot of sleep for a while. He often felt bad for what he'd done to Adam. At least he'd seemed to move on, even though it hurt him. Shawn had tried to get Adam out of his mind but it was no use. He'd even had dreams about him at least three or four times a week. Sometimes they were sexually explicit and other times they were just sweet and romantic. Either way the thought of that brief time at night that he had to be happy brought a smile to his face.
Shaw did his best to get the smile off of his face. He was going to try and scare the hell out of Hunter before he viciously attacked him for leaving him ALONE in the house with a HOT NURSE. More minutes ticked by and Shawn started to slip off into dreamland. For some reason he felt warm inside and slightly content. The sounds of things being dropped on the floor in the room seemed distant to him.
But the feeling of a pair of lips on his felt so good it snapped him out of it. Shawn's eyes snapped open and he saw a mess of blonde curls as he deepened the kiss. Maybe he was dreaming again. If he was, this was the realest a dream had ever felt to him. He ran his fingers through the blonde hair as the body leaned in a little more. Shawn closed his eyes and felt the body climb onto the bed and gently straddle him, never breaking the kiss. Their breathing was getting hot and heavy as he felt a hand smooth back his own hair.
The kiss was finally broken and both of them sat in silence for a minute. Shawn finally opened his eyes and saw the person who'd brought him such pleasure. He could've sworn it was a angel clad in denim and a Black Sabbath t-shirt. It had to have been a dream.
Adam stayed there straddling Shawn and stared into his eyes. He reached out and pulled him up into another gentle kiss. Then he leaned his head on Shawn's to where their foreheads were touching. Both were still out of breath. Shawn leaned forward for another kiss but Adam backed out. "Wait. I wanted to tell you something."
"What?" Shawn felt like his heart was going to explode.
"I'm sorry."
"Oh..."
Adam let out a small chuckled. "Okay, I lied."
Shawn looked at him with a confused look on his face. "Huh?"
"I had two things to tell you." Adam leaned in and gave him another kiss, he grabbed his hand and looked him right in the eye. "I love you."
Wait a minute...
When I said it was over... I LIED!
This part of the story is over. Now that they've gotten here where do they go now?
The "Sequel" will be coming after the Holidays.
