Family

Chapter Thirty-One (Or The Epilogue)

One’s Happy Ending

Cloud picked up the pen and signed his name right above Tifa’s.

So now it was official. They were legally Denzel’s parents, and now instead of being simply referred to as Denzel or Denzel Lockhart, he was, officially, Denzel Strife. Of course between the two adults who were standing, and listening to the government official continue on about the seriousness of this adoption, stood Denzel who didn’t understand half of what was being said. So maybe he wasn’t listening to every word said, but he was still excited about this idea of family.

Since day one, he had always wanted a family. The death of his parents had left him with no one, but because of lucky timing he was able to meet Cloud. Denzel then thought to the whole family tree thing. At first he was worried about what Cloud and Tifa might say, but it seemed to have turned out for the best that they found out, for somewhere deep in his heart, he was sure that he had been the one to bring them together.

The boy sighed, they hadn’t been here that long, the longest part had been the wait. He sighed softly, and continued eyeing at the paper, that both Cloud and Tifa had signed before. He didn’t notice anything that special on the paper. In fact it all seemed rather plain, just a bunch of typed words that were strung together. They didn’t really have any meaning to him, but they must have meant something to the judge and Cloud and Tifa, since they seemed to be understanding and listening. Then again, why did they have to go through all this? Couldn’t they just say it, and have it be done with instead of having of to go through all this signing. This wasn’t even the first paper that they had signed. Denzel sighed again. It was becoming too complicated for him.

Denzel was broken from his train of thought, by Tifa’s hand, gently shaking his shoulder as she spoke softly, “Come on Denzel.”

Denzel nodded and quickly followed her down the hall and out the door. Cloud glanced back to see Denzel hurrying to keep pace with them, as they left, so he slowed down, and then once they had left the building completely, he ruffled Denzel’s hair, “So?” He asked.

Exploding with his pent up energy, that he had been told to keep locked up, Denzel’s face broke out into an extremely large grin, as he shouted, “This is awesome!” His words nearly hit the level of screaming.

Cloud smirked as he looked over to Tifa who couldn’t help and smile, too. He noticed that her eyes had misted over, in a sense she had the beginnings of tears in her eyes. He knew exactly why and couldn’t help, but allow her to justify her own feelings. She had been wanting this for a while and now she had finally gotten it.

“You want to go somewhere Denzel?” Cloud asked the little brown haired boy.

“I don’t really care, “ the boy said glancing up at them, before adding, with a sweet tone to it, “Dad...”

Cloud’s grin widened, as he put his hand on his shoulder, “Let’s just go home then,” he glanced up over at Tifa who gave a simple nod of her head.

“Alright,” Denzel said quickly, leading the way back, running ahead of the adults.

Cloud glanced over at Tifa, smiled, and grabbed her hand holding it tight in his own hand. He looked over at her, kissing her cheek, “I think we did something right.”

“I do too,” she said quietly, before lacing their fingers together.

When Denzel glanced back he grinned, yet again.

This was his family.

He liked that thought.

So what had started as a family written out on paper, had become something much stronger and now they were a real family, not something fictional that had been written on paper.

Now Review

Author’s Corner:

Alright. First off.

It’s been a great story to write. I hope you enjoyed it.

Next, because of afinalchaotic, and them asking so nicely, there will be an unattached, Yuffentine wedding. Originally I wasn’t going to have it at all, but they did say please and asked nicely, so I’ve got to include it, don’t ya think? So wait for that to come out, and for your knowledge, I have a sequel for this story. The story, As Long As I’m Forgiven, fits nicely as a continuation, so for more Yuffentine, more CloTi, and more pairings, (Ex. Zarith, and an OcxOC). It’s good and I try to make it extremely believable. So thank you once again.

I thank all my reviewers, all the people who even thought this story had potential and all that.

And, I mean it when I say there will be a YuffieXVincent wedding, just not attached to this story, it’ll be all by itself, with a surprise for an ending.

Peace out, y’all!

Akn
