Chapter 19: Don’t look back in the dark
Darkness, it was everywhere. Slowly he opened his eyes to see nothing but white. Blinking a few times Gaara’s vision became clearer as he soon realize he was in a hospital, Suna’s hospital. He was a little surprise to find himself here since where he was earlier was very far from here.
‘I wonder who carried me back here?’ he thought to himself as he tried to recall the memory.
Sadly his memory was still fuzzy from all the mayhem that happened. His body was on fire as his in pain. He was so stupid to get into that mess by myself, why did he have to be so stubborn. But there was no point in dwelling in the past now, what’s done is done now.
The red head stared up at ceiling as he let his mind wonder to all the past events. From facing his opponent, to finding himself being carried back to Suna. That fight was long and hard as he had never used up all his chakra up like that. But losing wasn’t option to him during the fight.
Suddenly Sakura’s face flashed in his mind as his heart winced in pain a bit. For some reason the memory of him pinning her to the tree haunted him. The look of shock and pain wash over her face as she was slammed into the tree. He couldn’t believe that he did that to her, he almost killed her thanks to Sasuke.
“Uchiha…” Gaara growled as his hands balled into fists.
It was that stupid Uchiha’s fault that he hurt Sakura. If that chicken butt head didn’t move out of the way he wouldn’t have pin Sakura to the tree. Plus he now had a reason why to hate Sasuke now, not only he jumped out of the way but he tried to touch what was Gaara’s. Now that really pissed him off, along with Shukaku.
“Shukaku…” he whispered the demon’s name.
He wondered what the demon thought about all this. Was he pissed at the red head, was he shocked or just a bit terrified at what happened to him and his container. Strangely Shukaku hasn’t said a word to him in a long time that it almost made the red head wonder if the demon was still there.
Suddenly he heard the door open and looked over to see his visitor.
Standing at the door way was a little boy that looked to be no more then four years old; he had red hair and bright emerald eyes.
The little boy pushed the door opened a bit more before he dashed over to Gaara’s bed. The child stood at the side of his bed with a worried, scared and relief look on his face.
“Daddy…” the little boy started but stopped.
Gaara smiled at him as he knew what his son was trying to say. Slowly the older red head pushed up into a sitting position, while ignore the pain that shot through his body. He bent over to the side and grabbed his son and placed him on his lap.
“I’m fine Kyo.” Gaara smiled as he ruffled Kyo’s hair.
Kyo smiled at his father’s words and hugged him tightly. Gaara chuckled and returned the hug.
“There you are Kyo, you almost gave me-Gaara you’re awake!”
The older red head looked up to the door to see a kunoichi with short pink hair, emerald eyes and wearing a red top with black pants.
“Mommy, daddy says he’s ok now.” said Kyo with a smile.
“Did he now?” the kunoichi walked in with a bit of a worried look.
Gaara saw her worry eyes on him and smiled a bit.
“I’m fine Sakura, just sore every but that’s it.” he assured her.
Sakura let out a sigh of relief and sat on the edge of the bed. She smiled as she watched Gaara play with Kyo in his lap. It almost seemed liked yesterday when she gave birth to he son at the age of thirteen. Now she was seventeen years old and engaged to Gaara, who was now the Fifth Kazekage. It’s funny though, when he pinned her to a tree that day when Sand and Sound invaded Konoha. You would think that she would hate him for what he did on that day, but she didn’t. True that she was upset with him for not telling her all this but he did try to back out of it before it was too late. And that put her to easy, knowing that he tried to protect her.
After the attack Sakura woke up in the hospital and learned from Naruto that Gaara returned back to his village with his siblings. But to her surprise she learned that Yuffie went with them, saying that Naruto does not need her unlike Gaara, who needed help to become human. Sakura was of course disappointed that Yuffie was gone but understood and was happy that she went to help the sand master. But she knew one day she would see her and Gaara again.
When the Fifth Hokage was named, Sakura started to feel sick and hunger all the time. So she went to see Tsunade since she was the best. And to Sakura’s surprise she was proclaim two months pregnant. Well maybe she wasn’t really surprise since she and Gaara had sex three times without any protection.
On the seven mouth in her pregnancy, Sasuke left for Orochimaru in pursue for power. In a way Sakura was glad he was gone. Sakura wasn’t sure but the kunoichi had a bad feeling every time that Sasuke looked at her, well it was more of a glare and that glare was pointed to her stomach. But it was a little sad that he left but it didn’t affect Sakura that much. Naruto seemed to get over it as quickly as her and proclaim that one day he would bring his sorry ass back and let the Fifth Hokage deal with him.
But during that sad ordeal one good thing came out of it. It seemed that Gaara and his team came to Konoha not only to help get Sasuke back but to be there when she gave birth. Sakura was full of joy to see him again along with Yuffie to. On her ninth mouth the baby came earlier and boy to it make a fuse about. Everyone was in a panic and almost ran around like headless chickens. They almost didn’t make it to the hospital in time since the baby was coming fast. But in less then an hour at the hospital the pink haired kunoichi gave birth to a heath little boy.
“Does it have feathers?” Gaara asked.
“No.” Kyo shook his head.
“Does it have four legs?” he asked again.
“Yes.” said his son.
“Does it have fur and a tail?” said the older red head.”
“Yes.” Kyo nodded again.
“Is it a dog?” Gaara smiled.
“Yeah, how did you know?!” the little boy pouted a bit.
But Gaara just laughed at his cute little pout.
Sakura giggled at the two red head’s as they play Kyo’s favorite game, Name That Animal.
It was times like these that she was glad that she chose to come live with Gaara in Suna after Kyo was born. Tsunade also pointed out that it would be a good way to strengthen the bond between the Leaf and Sand village. As soon she was permitted to leave the hospital she left for the Sand village the next day. Of course she was sad that she was leaving her home and friends but knew this was for the best.
After two years since Kyo was born Gaara became the Fifth Kazekage. Sakura was proud of him and couldn’t believe how far he as come from when they first met. But sadly two more years later something terrible happened.
The Akatsuki came to the Sand village a week ago in search for the One-tailed demon, Shukaku. Of course Gaara being the leader of his village had to face them alone; no matter how many times his family protested the idea. Sakura knew that something bad would happen if he faced them alone. But no matter how many times she pleaded to him not to go he would tell her that he was doing this for her and Kyo.
She remembered how her heart shattered when she heard the news that the Akatsuki took Gaara. Kankuro tried to get him back but was end up poisoned by Sasori of the Red Sand. Sakura almost lost hope and that Gaara was gone forever but Naruto, Kakashi and Gai’s team showed up. It seemed that Temari called for help from the Leaf village and told them what happened, and of course Naruto left as soon as he heard the news. Soon they formed a rescue party and took off to find Gaara.
Of course Sakura joined them and ended up fighting Sasori along with Chiyo. They won the battle and meet up with Naruto and Kakashi, who found Gaara. But sadly they were too late. It seemed that the Akatsuki got the demon and left Gaara dead. Actually she takes that back when she said her heart shattered on the day they kidnapped him. When they found him dead that’s when it fell to pieces. So she cried on his chest and wished that he was still here with her. Little did she knew that her wish was about to come true. Chiyo sacrifice her life in exchange for Gaara’s.
The pink haired kunoichi was eternally grateful to Chiyo for what she did and couldn’t thank her enough. Naruto carried Gaara back to Suna as Kakashi carried Chiyo’s body back to give the old woman a proper burial.
So now three days later here they were.
“Gaara, is he… well… is… the-Is Shukaku gone?” Gaara cut her off as continued to play with Kyo. “No, he’s still inside; the Akatsuki only got a huge amount of Chakra.”
Sakura just nodded with a little smile.
“So who carried me back?” Gaara asked without look up form Kyo.
“Naruto, he’s still here. He wanted to wait for you to wake up before he went back to Konoha. I must say he’s getting impatient, he wants to get back to his training so he could get Sasuke back.” said the kunoichi.
“Do you still miss him?” said the red head.
“Yes and no. I mean yes he was a jerk to me and I want to see him punished, but he was my friend long ago.” She smiled a sad one.
Gaara nodded as he watched Kyo let out a big yawn.
“Alright let’s let daddy rest and put you to bed, it’s about your bedtime.” Sakura stood up and picked up the little boy. “I’ll see you tomorrow, get some rest.”
Gaara nodded as Sakura leaned forward gave him a peck on the lips and left. Once she was gone the sand master looked out the window to see that the sun was about gone. The sky was full of colors of yellow, blue, orange, pink, purple and… red.
A wicked smirk slowly creped up on his face as he remembered the color of blood was red. In the corners of his mind he heard the demon chuckle evilly at the same thought.
That day when they tried to retrieve Sasuke from the Sound ninja wasn’t a complete failure. Oh no, it was a success really. Gaara was able to get the Uchiha back from the enemy, but sadly Sasuke and Gaara didn’t see eye to eye. The raven haired boy was being stubborn and tried to kill Gaara. So the red head wrapped his sand around the Uchiha to make him stop fussing around, but Gaara ‘accidentally’ made his sand to tight and crushed Sasuke to death.
Gaara let out a laugh of insanity but made sure it wasn’t too loud to scare the nurses or doctors. So he keyed it down to a chuckle as he recalled that wonderful memory. Slowly the Kazekage leaned back in his bed with wicked smirk on his face.
After all what Sakura and Naruto don’t know won’t hurt them.
