IT'S NOT YET OVER!!!
Area unknown...
In a darkened room, a lone figure sat quietly. The room too dark to make out any physical features, the only sound heard was that of a female voice speaking into a telephone.
"So, she did all that, huh?" spoke the figure, a sinister tone permeating her words. "Destroyed our cloned ape-man's toy?"
"It's a good thing I tipped Drakken off to Dementor and Fiske-2's plan." came the sound of a young male voice from the other end of the line. "Otherwise, she wouldn't have come running and we wouldn't have gotten this new information."
"Are you certain the data log is authentic?" the figure asked.
"Yes, Boss." the voice assured. "It's the real deal. Right now, she's just chalking it up to her super-suit's power, but I know for a fact that the suit can't do those sorts of stunts. Heck, you should know, since you provided it to her to begin with."
"Hmmmmm..." the figure hummed to herself. "Well, I want to make certain. Send me the data log ASAP."
"Already on it, Boss!" the voice answered. "It's on its way as we speak."
"Excellent!" the figure exclaimed. "If her power is what I believe it to be, then we'll need to adjust the simulation accordingly."
"I don't think there's any need to do that." replied the voice. "From what I read on her bio-levels, what triggered her burst of power was emotional stress due to the situation. So long as she stays calm, her power stays dormant, and she stays unaware. Seeing as how she's always calm, that won't be any problem for us."
"Emotion, huh?" the figure spoke. "I can understand what you're getting at. Anyway, carry on with the simulation, and keep me updated to any new developments."
"Permission to speak freely, Boss." the voice asked, as if addressing an Army general.
"What?" the figure grunted in annoyance.
"Are you sure that this is... right?" asked the voice. "Manipulating the life of a mere girl like this, just for your so-called 'Progress'?"
"Starting to get cold feet, Agent?" the figure taunted back. "You know my motto, 'Progress at ANY cost'! And she is no 'mere girl', for your information!" she added with pure hatred in her voice.
"I know, but all the same," the voice asked again. "I can't help but feel like I'm betraying her."
"Don't you be questioning me, Agent!" the figure shouted. "Remember that I can have you killed at any given time. Now, you will continue the simulation as planned, and you will abide by it. Understood?" After a long pause, there was a quiet moan.
"Yes, Boss."
"Good!" the figure grinned. "It's nice to know you understand."
"Of course. I'm always at your disposal... " the voice quietly acknowledged from his computer room as he hung up, leaving the figure alone once again.
NOW IT'S OVER!!!
