Title: Hinder
Pairing: Marco/Tim, Marco/Dylan
Rating: R
Summary: Tim keeps getting in the way of Dylan and Marco's inevitable reunion. What is a beautiful blonde to do? Degrassi slash. In Dylan's POV.
Disclaimer: Don't own these characters.
Time line: Takes place after the first part of Total Eclipse of the Heart. Pretend the way too simple happy ending never happened.
A/N: I wrote this story because crazed, jealous Dylan amuses me and makes me feel all tingly inside. The lyrics that will be featured in this story are from the song Chick Habit by April March.
Part 1
"Dylan," the voice of Marco Del Rossi feels me with glee.
I hold my cell phone closer to my ear, trying to block out the sound of Paige chatting with Alex in the background. "Shhh," I hiss at the pair. "Hey short stuff, I'm glad you called me back."
"Don't push me with stupid nick names Dylan. This phone call is an extreme act of courtesy." Marco snaps back at me.
My heart sinks at the harshness in his voice. "Gotcha." I say, trying to play my pain off.
I hear Marco sigh heavily through the phone. "Actually I miss you calling me short stuff and I miss calling you curly," Marco relents. This is one of the things I love about Marco. He is such a softy, even when it comes to people like me who don't deserve it.
"I know what might help you stop missing me," I tell him, my confidents growing.
"Do you?" He questions coyly.
"You could come over- now, or later. Or I could take you out." I suggest with high hopes.
"I..." Marco trails off for a moment. "You know I have a boyfriend Dylan."
I'm glad that Marco can't see the hardened expression on my face after the mention of his new boyfriend, Tim. "I know. That doesn't mean you can't make a friendly visit." I persist. I know that Marco will need some prodding. His resistance only insures to me that he does want to come over.
"I'll think about it," he promises.
Knowing to quit while I am ahead I leave it at that. "Alright."
When we get off the phone I jump up and down like my small win with Marco is some kind of massive victory, causing Paige and Alex to give me funny looks. Alex gives me an amused smile, and then turns to Paige. "Aw, it looks like the doggy got some scraps."
I frown at her, not sure if she's being malicious or playful. "Scraps are more than Marco owes me."
"Got that straight," Alex huffs. "Tim's a sweet heart. He treats Marco like you never did, so why are you going to ruin that?" She gives me a fierce look.
Paige cocks her head at Alex and runs to my defense before I can. "Alex my brother loves Marco more than anything. That's worth a lot more than sweetness."
"More than anything?" Alex laughs. "Last year your brother gave up Marco for random hook ups. Yeah, he's worth keeping."
"What's your problem Alex?" I ask pointedly.
"My problem Dylan," her voice oozes with bitterness, "is that I'm not stupid enough to think that your love is worth anything. See I took back scum like Jay Hoggart after he cheated on me one too many times. I hope Marco's as sharp as he seems. Maybe he won't make the same mistakes that I did."
"You know what Alex," I say before storming out of the room, "This isn't any of your damn business, so do me a favor and keep your opinions to yourself."
I go up stairs and slam my door to the sounds of Alex and Paige's bickering. I hear Paige telling Alex that people can change and that she doesn't know what she's talking about. Alex's replies make me feel sick. I wonder if Alex is voicing Marco's thoughts. If that's how he feels am I kidding myself thinking that he will forgive me? I know that we will always love each other, that isn’t even a question. Still that doesn't mean that we'll end up together.
Next part will be posted by this weekend.
