He woke to muffled voices, beeping machinery, and vicious pain. Alive – hopefully, the dead didn't feel this much pain. Surprised, he tried opening his eyes with the hope to gain some answers; had they succeeded? How many lives did his own cost?

... Ouch. That hurt worse than any injury could. Struggling to open his eyes, he noted with relief to see a familiar face sitting next to his bed, soft hand gripping his tightly and squeezing gently as she realized he was awake. Riza.

“We did it, Taisa,” she breathed.

Her words were heavenly. The world blurred; Roy smiled anyway.
