Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto
“One second!” He shouted at the door, behind which an anxious Naruto stood waiting. With a deep sigh, Gaara smoothed down his sleeves and walked slowly to the door. Opening it, he was attacked by the other boy’s huge smile.
“About time! Geez, you took such a long time, what were you doing in there?—fixing your makeup?”
“Lets go.” Gaara said monotonously, he brushed by his hyperactive friend, and out into the street. Naruto jogged behind him, smiling all the while.
“You forgot to unlace it Hinata” she said laughing. Quickly, she loosened the strings and the dress fell loosely onto Hinata’s form.
“O-oh…” Hinata blushed sheepishly, wiping the almost-tears from her eyes. “S-sorry.”
“Ha, it’s no problem, you’re just nervous! I mean, you have a right to be, it’s your wedding day!” Sakura grinned, tightening the strings on Hinata’s dress. “Okay, done, go look in the mirror.”
Hinata rushed over to the vanity mirror in the corner of the room, staring at her reflection. “Is… is that r-really m-me?” She whispered.
“Sure is, and I must say Hinata, you look great. Gaara’s going to faint at the sight of you, I’m sure of it!” Hinata blushed deeply, smoothing out the wrinkles on her torso. “Come on, the ceremony should be starting soon.” Hinata gasped, it was too soon! Where had the time gone? Sakura pushed a bouquet of periwinkle flowers into her hands before ushering her out the door.
People continued to pour into the room, sitting down in already almost-full rows. It was to be expected, everyone from both Konoha and Suna were here to witness the marriage between the Hyuga heir and the Sand’s Kazekage; it was a memorable unison of both important people, and villages, since this marriage would be an eternal alliance between the two powerful villages.
Looking to the front of the room, Neji looked over the people standing there. Sakura stood at the front of the line, face a little flushed from her sprint through the building in order to get to her place in time, beside her were Gaara’s sister Temari, Tenten, Ino, and Hinata’s old sensei, Kurenai. On the other side of the altar, Gaara already stood looked blankly down the isle, behind him, a hand on the red head’s shoulder, was Naruto, whispering something in his friend’s ear. Also there was Gaara’s brother, Kankuro, Kiba, Lee, and Shino. At the altar, Tsunade stood, as was expected, it was typical that the Hokage should be the one to marry the two.
Music sounded, and everyone looked down the isle, trying to get a look at the bride. Hanabi walked down the isle, tossing the petals of cosmos flowers to the sides of the isles. Neji, unknowingly, was counting the seconds in his head. Six…seven…eig—he stopped as Hinata stepped around the corner, arm looped around Hiashi’s as he lead her down the isle.
His gaze shifted to her sister, who had reached the front of the room and was now pulling the rings from her small basket full of flowers, delicately, she set them on the red cushion sitting on a small table in front of the altar. Quickly, she scurried to Hinata’s line of ladies in waiting, standing there, beaming for once at her cousin.
Gaara thought back to that day three weeks ago, when he listened in on Hinata’s conversation with her father when she told him the news that she was engaged. He remembered the happiness in Hinata’s voice when she heard from her father for the first time that he was proud of her.
‘She needs this man to make her more confident.’ Tsunade thought.
“I… I d-do” Hinata smiled, a weight lifted from her chest as she said those two deciding words.
“You may now kiss the bride.” Tsunade said, smiling at the two in front of her. Gaara turned to Hinata, who was blushing so hard; she looked like tomato in a wedding dress. His eyes softened as he pulled her chin up slowly, he flashed a small grin before lightly covering her lips with his own. Behind them, Gaara heard Kankuro muttering, ‘How come my emotionally-challenged brother got married before me?’
Clapping ensued, and Hinata blushed harder at the hoots and whistles that were randomly being emitted by the crowd. Gaara finally let her lips go, and Hinata smiled up at him before leaping up to kiss him again. Behind her, she could hear Sakura laughing, and Temari whistling as they looked at the happy couple.
Naruto continued to cut pieces for others who wanted pieces, while Gaara and Hinata walked off. Gaara used his chopsticks to pick off a piece of cake from the slice. He held out the loaded fork, “Want a bite?” he asked, with a small smirk, Hinata leaned forward and snatched the cake off of the chopsticks.
“Hmm… tastes good.” She said, licking her lips. She purposefully left a piece of frosting on the corner of her lips, smiling up at her husband.
“You’ve got something on your lips.” Gaara pointed out.
“Hmm?” Hinata said, purposefully wiping at the wrong side. “I don’t feel anything…” out of the corner of her eye, she saw Ino smirk at her.
Gaara wiped his finger over her lips, scraping off the frosting. “See?”
Hinata merely smirked, grabbing his hand lightly and licking the frosting off his finger. She looked up at him seductively, making his throat dry. “Ahh… uhm… okay then…” A blush tinted his tanned cheeks as he looked away from his wife. He blushed even more at the thought of her being his wife… six years ago, he would’ve scoffed at the idea of getting married, but now… here he was.
“Hinata-sama, may I speak to Gaara-sama please?” Neji appeared before them. Hinata nodded before walking off to talk to Temari. Neji glared at the boy before him, “Okay, there are some things I need to talk to you about, concerning Hinata.” Gaara nodded; eyes blank. “First, if you do anything to her that may compromise her mental or physical health, I will not hesitate to kill you, Kazekage or not, second, you are not to push her into anything, believe me, I will find out and third…” Neji sighed, “…just… be good to her, okay?”
“Of course.”
