Author of 14 Stories |
Author's Note: This is an AU for Death Note. This is kind of a romanticish story between L and a character I'd made up. Misa is the Kira in this story. Light (Raito) is a detective and Mello and Near work with all of them. Misa is a baka.
Sabrina kept her mouth shut and her eyes down. She allowed Watari to lead her up the large steps of Wammy's House orphanage in England. Her hoodie hid not only her head but her body, in its oversized folds. She reached a small and dainty hand up to adjust oversized purple sunglasses on a cute, rounded nose. She was slowly shuffleling behind the elderly man, arms was painfully shy and very nervous.
They were in the grand hall with beautiful marble floors, sophisticatd paintings, and handsome staircase, complete with long red carpet.
"Looks more like a fancy hotel than an orphanage." Sabrina muttered to herself. The old man went to an oak door, equally grand to the rest of the house. Sabrina was gestured to, to tell her to stay put. Watari knocked gently on the door. There was a rush of movement from behind the wood. Then there was nothing. Suddenly a soft voice said,
"Come in." Watari openend the door and dissapeared, closing it completely behind him. Therefore there was no way for Sab to easedrop on the conversation unless she literaly pressed her ear against the door. She stood alone in the vast hallway. She bobbed her head in annoyance as it took Watari forever to open the door again. The old man stood to the side of the door and said,
"You may go in now." Sabrina swerved into the round office and Watari shut the door behind him. She looked at the somewhat simple office with a large desk, with large windows, white walls and blue carpet. But what really caught her attention was what was in the center of the room. There was a really attractive young man. He was tall and pale. He had insomiac's eyes with dark bags underneath, wide and black. His hair complimented his eyes, it was a mass of black and pushed to the left with jagged edges. He was just truly beautiful. He kept a blank look as he said,
"Please, come in and sit down." She obligued by sitting down at the chair he'd gestured to. She watched as he made his way to stand in front of her. Sab noticed that he had terrible posture, and stayed hunched over as he stood or walked.
"Thanks...Sooooo...what's your name?" He picked up a file from the top of the desk and said,
"You're Sabrina Talls. American. Age 14. Orphaned at birth. Welcome to Wammy House. You've been selected to come here because you are one of the most intellegent person in the world and you will be trained to use your mind for the betterment of humanity." He sounded like a recording that was played for all newcomers. On top of that he didn't even give his name.
"I'm flattered. But still, what's your name?' He smiled and said,
"Here we go by nicknames. These nicknames are based off of out first intial. I'm L." Sab gave him a queer look before saying,
"So I'm S?" He nodded. "Well...my nickname has always been Sab."
"That's fine too. You will go by both." She wasn't a hundred percent about him around this time.
"So...I'm here because I'm really smart huh?" He nodded and said,
"You're here to train your mind in the ways of logic and criminal psycology. I've read your file and you show a high intrest in criminal psycology." Sab nodded. "Would you also be interested in detective work?" She thought for a moment before giving a full hearted,
"Sure." He did something that he hadn't done since she'd entered the room, smiled. It was almost non existant but still there.
"Good. Now Watari will take you to your room. You'll begin your lessons starting tomorrow." She got up and shook his slender hand. They engulfed her tiny, too dainty hands. His hands were cold but so...nice. She turned and left was waiting outside the door.
"Please fallow me S." She nodded and followed the old man yet again. She felt her head swim, this all was happening so damn fast. She followed down carpeted halls with tapestyed walls and victorian furniture. It was so much different from the rag tag, poor place she'd come from. She felt out of place like a book that had been left in a car or at a beach. She felt so ragged by comparison to the this house that had become her home.
She was so distracted by the artwork and flowers that she didn't see Watari stop. Unfortuniatly she hit into his back and fell down.
"Sorry." She felt so stupid. She couldn't figure out why that L guy thought she was so smart. But if being smart meant being around that cutie then why not.
"This unfortunatly is the tiniest room we have. But you will have it all to yourself." Watari said before opening the door to her new room.
"That's fine. I don't need much space." She lifted her lone backpack for emphasis. Watari opened the door and Sab went silent. She was dumbfounded. Dispite the room being a bit snug it was beautiful. There were ritch purple walls with thick red velvet curtains. There was a large chest of drawers made of mahogony and an empty bookcase that simply teased her. The bed was huge next to anything she'd ever had. There were curtains around it for privicy and lovly blue blankets.
It wasn't the largest room but it was exquisite.
"S...you'll be introduced to the rest of the house in an hour at dinner. Until then please make yourself at home." With that the door snapped shut. Sab was left alone to make herself at home. She simply dropped her bag on the floor and climbed onto the softness of her new bed. She sighed feeling so comfortable. She felt so at ease and relaxed for the first time in her life. Her eyes drifted shut. She was tired after such a long trip.
