Preface

Preface

In the town of Forks, the inhabitants all heard of the forest ghost. She stalked the forests with her soft, enchanting singing and she lured travelers with her heavenly beauty; a siren. For as long as they knew, she had always haunted their woods. Once you went in there, there was no coming out unscathed…or there was no coming out at all.

Her name was Isabella Swan but such knowledge was lost over the centuries and now they only knew her as the Hooded Lady, due to the crimson cloak she wore and haunted the woods in, shrouding her pretty features. Only few have seen her face and lived to tell the tale. They say that she had a river of flowing brown hair, that were framing a pale angelic face that stared at you with deep chocolate brown eyes that reminded you of the earth that they stood on. Some say that she smiled at you with her plump red lips and you were no longer on this earth. But those of course were spun tales of the villagers.

As to why and how she got this way, it was a thing of legend. It was said that once Isabella was in love with a handsome youth named Caleb White. They were head over heels for each other and there was no one that could come between them. The elderly folks would look at them and see two teenagers in love. They were bliss with each other. Other people would look at them and their hearts would falter to see them so happy. He made her laugh and she made him smile. But then came the police, and they charged Caleb with witchcraft, him being a minor magician of tricks and such. An illusionist. The townspeople fought over such a useless and stupid thing to do. This angered the mayor and they put Caleb to the stake.

And Isabella watched him burn. And then she watched him crumble to dust, after hearing his cries of pain and vows that he would always love her, even in death.

Being heartbroken and angry at the world, Isabella disappeared into the forest in which held fond memories and was never seen again for a long while. Then when the mayor and his hunting friends went out one sunny glorious day, they were never heard from for weeks. From the small town, a few townspeople swore they heard yelling coming from the woods days before and they were frightened. A few brave souls ventured into the forest to see where they could have possibly gone, for they had not heard nor seen them for days now. They even confided their trust in the natives of La Push to help search for them.

As the lead hunt man, Reginald Black searched farther on than his tribe members dared go. They had heard the spinning tales the townspeople were making and were on high alert. Taking his rifle he meandered around the tall trees and searched for tracks of the mayor and his fellow friends. None were found. As he searched farther, something made him stop. Out of the silence of the forest, he started to hear an eerie beautiful humming some ways ahead and followed.

He came upon a meadow and saw a woman there, donned in a crimson cloak. Actually, it was so red, that it looked like it was bleeding into the very ground itself. The woman was singing softly to herself, not seeming to have noticed Reginald.

“Uh, excuse me miss?” Reginald called warily. The woman turned and he saw that it was a woman. The people had mentioned that one of the woman of the small town had disappeared weeks before that and had not returned. So this must be Isabella Swan…

“Caleb? Do you know where my Caleb is?” she inquired. Reginald heard of this Caleb before and knew of her and the boy’s relationship and he felt guilty and regret at once.

“Do you know what happened to the mayor, Mr. Vincent?” Reginald asked, Isabella looked at him and sized him up with her beautiful brown eyes.

“You mean that murderer?” she spat, forgetting her earlier laments of her deceased love. “He murdered my Caleb. I watched Caleb burn…I can feel the heat of that fire on my face right now…I watched that man die with joy. He deserved it. He killed my Caleb. You will not find his body. You will not find his friends. You will turn away now and never return. Leave me alone to wallow in pity and sorrow. Leave now before you can’t.”

That was the only Reginald got and he took. Swiftly, he left her in that wide meadow and ran all the way to tell his men of what he saw, of her beauty, the death of the mayor, the warning. Their curiosity aroused now, some of the men went back into the forest at night against Reginald’s protests.

The men came upon a soft enchanting humming, as their leader had earlier that day, and were drawn to the soft lullaby. So sweet. So loving. So tender. They were pulled toward the singer and they came upon a figure with their hood drawn up on a bleeding red cloak. In the darkness, two red irises peered at them and suddenly the spell was broken and they ran for their lives. The Hooded Lady was suddenly before them, menacing as an angel from hell itself. She spoke and they were enveloped in a wispy vapor, being sucked into pain not of this world but of the grief and despair in a heart; her heart.

And so began the legend of the Hooded Lady….

No one dared into the forest ever since. They were cautious and wary and didn’t take such things lightly. The story was passed down for generations and most just scoffed at this and walked into the woods with their buddies. They were reported missing days later after there was trace of them. No one entered the forest anymore. They wouldn’t dare.

Then came on fateful day when a certain abnormal family moved into Forks, unaware of the dangers and mystery that would shroud them everyday.

And here is where their story begins.

Okay…that was my first chapter of my fanfic…I know it may seem weird but it will get better and yes there will be Edward and Bella. But you have to review and tell me if the idea is totally WTF? Or if you want you see what happens next. You can bash me and all but please be gentle. Anyway…REVIEW!! Thank you if you read this…. you are now awesome!

Yours truly,

Freak a Geek

EDIT: I changed up a bit of this chapter, as I am doing with the rest of my other chapters. AS this was my first fan fiction ever I was bound to have made stupid grammar mistakes and such. This is just so I can level up to my writing skills now.

EDIT 2: Okay, wth people? Lol, I STILL keep getting reviews for this story! (Thank you so much though X3) But still…honestly…it’s not THAT good, is it? I have grammatical errors left and center and this story doesn’t even make sense!! You got all these OC’s, and weird ass explanations for things, the bi-polar-ness of Bella, the chapters that should leave you going like “Okay, this effin sucks! What the hell is with this chick?!” Not “OMG! IT MADE ME CRY!!” X0 Lol. But still, I just wanted to ask…AND THANK YOU still for those who actually find this and favorite it. It does mean a lot!
