Anyway, I’ll be doing this for other books/manga if this turns out to be a hit with you all.

If you were to describe Erik of Paris De Opera, how would you? Would you say he is hideous? Or perhaps misunderstood? A genius? A renaissance man? Would you say he was a love sick fool? Or a love sick monster? Perhaps you would just tell me to read the book so I’d know how he looked. Well I know how he looked. I read the book over 5 times. I want to know how YOU would describe him though. I don’t want to know how the author described him, I WANT YOUR OPINION! Would you still say the stuff above? Or something different? Would you tell me stuff the you think happened to make him that way? Would you tell me things that you think he really is? Would you tell me things that you wouldn’t tell anyone else who read the book of fear of contradiction? Would you? Tell me, honestly would you? If someone were to ask me this question, I would tell him or her that Erik, the Opera Ghost is the color Vermilion.

I say the color Vermilion because it is blood red. The color of life. If you don’t know what I mean by the color of life, then I suggest you read my story Blood, Life, and Death. Vermilion because it is the color of the life he never got to lead. He wanted to live the life of a normal person so badly. He wanted a job, a life, a lover, friends, and most importantly he wanted to look the part. He wanted to live a life without fear of hiding in the darkness because of his cursed body. Erik wanted to be not beautiful, but human. Not the monster that he resembled, for inside was a soul, a shattered soul that was abandoned to grow up alone. He grew up with fear and hatred as his patron saints, he grew up with them constantly at his heals. Saying ‘stop now, and we destroy you son of the devil, son of Lucifer.’ I say Vermilion because he killed many, spilling their life for his own. In a society that claimed to be fair, he was prosecuted and left alone. Erik the opera ghost was left to grow up by the rules of the jungle, in other words the survival of the fittest. It was either kill, or be killed. So he spilt the blood, the vermilion blood of others, so that his wouldn’t be spilt. And that is why he is the color Vermilion.
