No, no- the worst part was definitely the fact that aforementioned attention-seeking brown-noser felt the need to initiate conversation.
"Y'know, Anko- I used to think you were too good to do something so stupid."
And really- that was it. She was trying. She was trying so hard. She threw her arms up in the air and yelled.
"Okay- whatever. I get it! I stole your innocence, ruined your faith in people. I taught you that the world was full of duplitious, no good, evil, mean people that you should never trust and that everything is horrible and-"
"No," and Iruka reached through the bars and rested a hand on her shoulder to cut her off, "You taught me that everyone needs help once in a while. And that no one should ever be crucified for their mistakes."
Anko stared at the hand- and then at him- blankly for a few moments before chuckling and leaning back against the cell wall, a sardonic smile (but a smile none the less) plastered on her face.
"You know, Umino- someday you're going to make a really crappy ninja."
