Disclaimer: I own nothing to do with SVU or Raines.
A/N: So…the unthinkable happened. Someone found out my secret. I have told no one I know that I am Whatsername007, and my creative writing teacher did. It is so weird. And the other thing…I’ve run out of wall space. I haven’t been able to put up any posters for awhile, but now I have almost no room left. Kinda sucks! Moving on. The new guy’s name is Chester Lake, right? I hope it is, that’s what I used.
Olivia somehow managed to will herself to untangle her body from Elliot’s and get to her feet. When her feet hit the cold, hard ground she drew a sharp breath, but did not remain sitting on Elliot’s bed for long. She went back to her cold bed and sat down on the edge of it, her feet dangled over the ground, and she watched them move. She could not make herself look at Elliot or Kathy, and she didn’t know why. Kathy and Elliot were officially separated so it was okay what they were doing.
“I came to see if you were okay, but they weren’t going to let me see you,” Kathy said. She sniffed and then looked away from him. She had stopped crying but it was obvious that she was angry. The anger swam across her face and settled in her eyes, giving them a dark and sinister look. Olivia turned her head away and tried to keep her eyes focused on her feet still dangling over the ground, but she was drawn to Elliot’s eyes.
“Yeah, really it was nothing,” Elliot said. The large amount of gauze wrapped around his torso said otherwise, but Kathy said nothing. She nodded and then looked away, her eyes scanned the small room, before she finally turned back to Elliot.
“How long have you two been…together?” Kathy asked them.
Olivia studied Elliot as he took a moment to think over what he should say. Elliot looked up and caught her eyes, then looked over at Kathy. Fresh tears were slowly descending down her face and for a moment it was unclear why.
“Not long, after you made me leave,” Elliot said. He had mumbled the last few words but Olivia heard them clearly. Kathy nodded and then left. If she had stayed Olivia might have held onto the little respect she had for the woman, but she did not stay, and Olivia now despised her. She had only come to ruin their happiness, and once she had she fled.
“Elliot, what is she saying? Was I just a…a…back up?” Olivia asked him. Between the time Kathy had left and Olivia had spoken she had stood up and was now walking closer to Elliot.
“That night that I came to your apartment I was drunk. Kathy and I had been fighting and she told me to get out. She had let me come back for a short amount of time, but not very long. I was angry so I went and got a few beers, it was then that I realized that I…” Elliot trailed off and looked up at her, searching for any emotion in her face.
“What?” Olivia asked him, impatience edging into her voice.
“I realized I love you, Olivia, and it is you that I should have gone to when I needed someone to make me feel better. I love how angry you get with me when I forget your coffee. I love it when you sing American Pie in the shower and when you tease me. I love your laugh and your smile, I love how soft your skin is and I love the way you flirt with me. I love everything about you, Liv.” Elliot’s eyes were now fixed on hers and he was looking at her apprehensively.
“El, I love you too but—” “No buts, Liv, love is enough to keep us going,” Elliot stated firmly. He motioned for her to come closer, watching her as she hesitated before finally giving in and walking toward him. Olivia lay down next to him and then buried her face in his neck. “I thought I had lost you, back at the station. El, it was the worst feeling I have ever suffered through, no matter how momentary it may have been,” Olivia said, tears flowing freely down her face and landing on their hospital gowns. “It’s okay now. Liv, I’m right here beside you and there is nothing that you need to worry about other than how we are going to explain our relationship to Cragen,” Elliot whispered. Olivia laughed, the sound was soft and melodic and soon Elliot was laughing with her. They continued laughing even after they had both forgotten what was so funny. When their laughter died down Olivia looked up at Elliot and smiled. “We’ll figure that out when the time comes,” he said softly. Olivia nodded and closed her eyes. The door opened and both detectives looked over, expecting to see Kathy standing in the door way, but instead saw Munch and Fin. The two men stepped inside the room and slowly walked toward the side of the bed. “Casey said she’d be in momentarily,” Munch said. Olivia sat up and then helped Elliot into an upright position. He slipped one arm around her shoulders and then pulled her closer as they four detectives talked about various things. “How is everyone else?” Olivia finally asked. The door opened again and Casey came into the room. “There were no deaths, and everyone will be fine,” Fin said. He said it softly and kept looking away from Elliot and Olivia. Finally Munch stepped forward and spoke softly, looking directly at Elliot and Olivia.“You two just worry about getting better. We’ll keep checking in on you, but for now we have to go back and help clean up the precinct,” Munch said. Elliot and Olivia said nothing; they just nodded and looked around at the three people’s faces.
SVU/Raines—SVU/Raines
Two Months Later
A warm breeze blew around the large leaves of the palm trees and stirred the sand that covered the ground. Olivia sunk her feet into the warm sand and closed her eyes, content to just stand there and listen to the sound of the waves crashing onto the wet sand and the sound of the sea birds calling to one another. Two strong arms snaked their way around her waist and she was pulled backwards, against Elliot’s body. He rested his chin on her shoulder and watched the tide come in and out. After a few long minutes of silent Olivia turned around and wrapped her arms around Elliot’s neck. He grinned and tightened his grip on her, then leaned his forehead against hers.
“Are you ready to go back?” Elliot whispered. Olivia shook her head and then kissed him softly. She looked into his blue eyes and waited for him to say something else.
“No, I want to stay here with you forever. El, these last two months have been the best two months of my life,” Olivia said. Elliot could barely hear her over the sound of the waves beating down on the sand.
“I know, Liv, but we can’t hide away forever. We really do owe Huang big time. If he hadn’t of convinced Cragen we were both unfit for work we would never have left New York, and we would never have come here,” Elliot said softly.
They broke apart and walked up the beach toward the towering hotel. Elliot took Olivia’s hand in his as they walked and drew her closer to him. Olivia smiled at Elliot and then turned her head away. She was happy with him; the happiest she had ever been.
END
A/N: I finally finished it! Woohoo!! Well, I hope that someone out there liked it. It didn’t turn out the way I thought it would, but I like the ending. A review would be much appreciated.
