Authors Note: Hey guys. I know i said no more new stories but ever since that new Linkin Park album dropped and i've been listening to it none stop i've gotten so many ideas. Here is one that is inspired by the song 'Valentines Day'. It's a great song and i have the lyrics right under this to start out the mood of the story. I just finished this first chapter about two minutes ago so i'm posting it now so that i can get some feed back on it. So please let me know what you think. Leave a review okay. It's a dark fic that starts out very sad. It's also a J/H piece. The next chapter will expain more about what's going on with everyone. So please leave a review and let me know what you think.

Disclaimer: I own nothing...i wish i did but i dont.

Valentines Day:

Chapter One: Darkness Over Day

My insides all turned to ash/ so slow

And blew away as I collapsed/ so cold

A black wind took them away/ from sight

And held the darkness over day/ that night

I used to be my own protection/ but not now

Cause my path had lost direction/ somehow

A black wind took you away/ from sight

And held the darkness over day/ that night

And the clouds above move closer

Looking so dissatisfied

And the ground below grew colder

As they put you down inside

But the heartless wind kept blowing, blowing

So now you’re gone

And I was wrong

I never knew what it was like

To be alone

On a valentines day

The monitor kept going as he held onto her hand and he continued to even after the nurse turned the monitor off. He hadn’t spilled a single tear yet, and most people assumed that he was only in a state of shock. But shock wasn’t all that he was feeling…he was also feeling guilt. Guilt because of how things were falling apart before this. In fact the last thing he said to her before she went to the hospital was I hate you. He didn’t mean it though. If you were to ask anyone of his friends or family they would have told you that he loved his wife more than anything in the world. They would have told you how happy she made him and how proud he was to be her husband. But he couldn’t tell you any of those things…because he never spoke his feelings out loud or showed them to anyone…well to anyone on purpose. He always loved her…even when they were kids he loved her so much. She was his entire world all through high school and he even waited for her while she went off to college before following in her footsteps and getting a degree of his own. However she always knew, even when he didn’t say it in front of anyone or even to her sometimes, she knew that he loved her and she was his entire world. But now she was gone and the irony of it all was that today was Valentines Day…her favorite day of the year. He leaned down and kissed her hand one last time, before standing up and leaning over to her ear. He whispered ‘I love you’ one last time before walking out of the room.

He went to the waiting room, where he knew his friends and family were waiting. As soon as he walked in he was pulled into his mother’s arms, and finally the tears came.

“She’s gone,” he whispered as Kitty continued to hold him.

His brother came up and laid a gentle hand on his shoulder. “We know.” Eric said as his fiancée, Donna, walked over and took one of Hyde’s hands into her own.

“If you need anything…and I mean anything Hyde, Eric and I will be there.”

He nodded at Donna as Kitty let go of him. “Where’s Claire?” He asked as he looked at Kitty.

Kitty turned around as Red walked over with a little girl asleep in his arms.

“She fell asleep a little while ago son.” Red said as he handed the girl over to her father.

“Thanks Dad.” Hyde said as he walked over to the couch beside the window and sat down with his five year old daughter in his arms. He stared at her face as he thought of her mother. She looked so much like her that it was almost hard to look…but she was all that Hyde had left of Jasmine. “I love you so much Claire.” Hyde said as he pulled her into a hug and the little girl began to wake up.

“Daddy,” She quietly asked as she stared up at father.

Hyde smiled at her before taking her hands into his own. “Hey Claire,”

“Daddy where’s mommy?” Claire asked as Hyde’s eyes began to tear up again.

“Claire…your mommy…she had to go away for a while.”

“When’s she comin back?”

“Claire, do you remember when Polly went away?” Hyde asked as Claire nodded.

“You said my fishy had to go away for a long time but that I’d see her again someday.”

“Well your mom…she went where Polly is. And some day you’ll be able to see her again.”

“Why’d she go away Daddy?”

“I don’t know honey…she just had to.” Hyde said as Claire began to cry.

“I want Momma!” Claire yelled as Hyde pulled her into his chest and she cried her eyes out against him until finally she fell asleep. Hyde stood up and carried her over to Red again. Red took the girl as Hyde stared at the floor.

“You did the right thing son.” Red said as Hyde looked up at him.

“I didn’t know how else to tell her. That was the only way she’d understand.”

“You did fine Steven.” Kitty said as she walked over to her son.

“I miss her so much already. I know we were having our problems but why’d she have to go?” Hyde asked as he fell to his knees. “Why? I know I screwed up…I know what I did and I’m sorry. Why did she have to pay for what I did?” Hyde yelled before he got up and ran out of the waiting room and out the hospital doors. He stopped at the curb and stared out at the sky as the tears kept falling.

“Hyde.” Eric said as he walked over to his brother. “It’s not your fault.”

“Yes it is. If I hadn’t left, then she wouldn’t have come after me and the accident wouldn’t have happened.” He said as he looked over at Eric.

“I know you two were having your problems and I know that you think this is all your fault, but Jasmine made the decision to come after you. You didn’t tell her to do that did you?”
“No I didn’t but-‘

“No,” Eric said as he grabbed Hyde’s shoulders, “You didn’t cause this Hyde and until you realize that then you can’t be a father to that little girl…at least not the father she needs.”

“I know that.”

“Then stop it and go back in there and be with your daughter. She needs you now more than ever Hyde. You’re all she has left.” Eric said before he walked back inside.

Hyde stared at the doors before he went back inside.

Two months later:

“Daddy!” Claire yelled as she ran down the stairs of her grandparents’ house.

“He’s outside with your Uncle.” Kitty said as she walked into the living room.

“What’s he doing?” Claire asked as she smiled at her grandmother.

“He’s helping him with his car. Now was there something you needed Claire?” Kitty asked as the doorbell rang.

“Nope just wanted to see Daddy.” Claire said as Kitty smiled and walked over to the door.

“He’ll be right in Claire,” Kitty said before she opened the door.

“Mrs. Forman?” The woman asked as she smiled at Kitty.

“Oh my god, is that really you?” Kitty asked as she pulled the woman inside and shut the door.

“Hey mom do you have any-“Hyde began to ask, but stopped when he saw the woman standing next to Kitty. “Jackie,” Hyde said as he stared at her.

“Hey brother in law,” Jackie said as she walked over to him, “How’s my sister?”

Hyde stared at her as she looked back and forth between him and Kitty.

“What’s going on where’s my sister?” Jackie asked as she walked over to Hyde.

“Jackie…”

“No Steven where is my sister?” Jackie said as she glared at him.

“Jackie…I tried to call you…Jasmine…she was in a car accident two months ago.” Hyde said as he motioned for Kitty to take Claire upstairs.

“What happened to her?” Jackie asked as Hyde waited till the other two were gone.

“Jackie…she died. They tired everything.”

“She’s gone…and you didn’t tell me.”

“I tried.” Hyde said as tears fell from Jackie’s eyes.

“You didn’t try hard enough then Steven.”

“I called everyone Jackie! I called everyone in your family and they all said that you were gone!”

“I wasn’t gone…I was…my twin sister is gone…” Jackie said as she crumpled to the floor.

Hyde fell down to his knees beside her and pulled her towards him as she cried her eyes out.
