Tory: I had the random urge to write a story, so here it is. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto. I just own my stories.

Summary: They came from different circles; his criminal, and hers for the good of things. Finding a common link between them, they explore it. But when they want more than just simply notes, will they get caught in their little game? And how will their friends react to them falling for the enemy?

Chapter 1

She set up her easel and canvas by the waters edge. Then she opened her bag and brought out some paintbrushes, paint and colour palette. Then, picking her colours she set to work. It was always a secret hobby of hers. She just loved to paint and draw. She also wasn't that bad at it either.

Sakura usually spent her free mornings by that river. She had done so for a few months now. It helped her take her mind off of work and training and... off of Sasuke. Perhaps that's why she had started this artistic hobby. It helped her ease the pain of losing him. First it was just drawing, but as weeks and months passed, she found herself wanting to do more.

She ran her brush dipped in blue smoothly along the top of the canvas- that would be the sky. Then she ran a brush dipped in green below it- that would be the trees. At first it looked only like abstract colours. But, as the morning died into the afternoon, the colours took shapes. By sunset the picture was perfect. She would've been done earlier if she didn't stop for lunch, or change a few things here and there.

Satisfied with her work, Sakura packed up her stuff and headed home. Maybe one day she'd show her work to her friends. Maybe even place them in a studio. But that day was a ways off in her mind.

She went back there every Saturday and Wednesday. It was like a little paradise, a place completely sealed off from the corruption of the world. A place where she could be alone and think, a place to let her emotions out in the form of a picture. It was her little sanctuary.

But, one day she found that someone else had been in her little piece of heaven on earth. They had left a note in one of the trees, held up by a kunai. She cautiously approached it and, after deciding it was safe, she took it down and read it.

o.o

He had been watching her for some time. He just happened to stumble across her on one of his missions. He was going to have a little fun with her, before living up to his name and doing away with her. But, there was something in the way she looked- so completely absorbed in her art, like nothing else was there. He had to admire that.

After that first time, he found himself going and waiting for her to show up. Then, he found her routine and only went on Saturdays and Wednesdays. He would just sit contently, watching as she moved the paint across the canvas, or scrunch her face up while she changed things that bothered her.

Before long, sitting there and just watching wasn't enough. He wanted to talk to her, to be closer to her. So that's when he decided to leave her a note. He had written it in his best writing, and had been so sweet he hardly recognized himself. What was it that this girl was doing to him?

o.o

My Cherry Blossom,

I've been watching you for some time. You are very talented. I admire your work. It's hard to find many people so intact with their inner artist. I really enjoy watching you work- you're very cute when you get frustrated. I hope I'm not imposing in your little paradise, but I couldn't help myself. I look forward to seeing your next piece of art.

The note was left unsigned, which bothered Sakura- she would've liked to know who this mysterious person was. She was really touched by his words- she hadn't really known what anyone would say about her style. She decided to write him back and see if she couldn't figure out who he was.

So, she raced home and got to work on her note- she wanted it to be perfect. She would leave it in the same place and wait for him to reply.

o.o

He watched as she ran off and his heart sank. 'Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to leave her a note, yeah.' Deidara thought sadly as he slumped in his spot. Then, deciding there was no point in staying there, he left.

She spent days trying to find the right words to write. She wanted her note to mean as much to him as his did to her. She was so consumed in trying to get it perfect that she failed to notice she had missed going to the river to paint. She actually didn't realize until she had finished her note, which was on Tuesday night.

Wednesday morning, she realized how much time she had spent on that note, and rushed to the river with her stuff. Unfortunately she had a little detour when she ran into a friend.

"Sakura!" the pink haired kunoichi froze mid-step; she really hoped that this wouldn't take long.

"Hey Tenten." she replied, turning to the weapons mistress.

"Where ya going with all that art stuff?" she asked, noticing the supplies in the girl's hands.

"Oh these? I was uhhh... just going to... you know, paint." she said uneasily.

"Paint? I didn't know you were into art. Can I see some of your stuff? Or maybe we could paint together sometime. I've always wanted to try and create a piece of art." the girl went on and on.

"Maybe some other time Tenten. I really should be going. I have to meet someone..." she trailed off catching what she had said a little too late.

"Ohhh. And who is this 'someone'?" Tenten was never really one for prying, but her and Sakura had become pretty close over the past two years.

"Oh just some guy. I honestly don't know that much about him. But I really do need to get going." she tried to hint at the fact that she really didn't want to talk about it.

"Okay. I wouldn't want to make you late for you date." she stressed the last word, reminding Sakura of Ino a little bit.

"I'll see you later Tenten."

"Okay. Have fun. Don't do anything I wouldn't do." Tenten called after her friend before erupting in small fit of giggles.

Sakura ran as fast as she could to get to the river. 'I hope he's still there.' she thought as she reached the little circle of heaven.

She set up her art stuff and set to work, this time painting something from her imagination. It was a solarized style picture of a sunset. She was only about halfway done by the time the sun was actually setting. Sighing, she packed up her equipment and started to head back, when she remembered...

"Oh yeah!" the pink haired girl ran back and pinned her note to the tree.

Then she walked back to her village, going slower than usual, just taking in the serenity of the night. She hardly ever noticed the small things in the forest that made it so amazing.

o.o

He had waited for her the Saturday and was disappointed to find she didn't show up. He first thought it was because of his note. But, then he figured something must've come up. He decided that he would go Wednesday and see if she showed up. So that's what he did.

He had been there for nearly an hour and she still wasn’t there. He determined that his note had driven her away. Deidara was about to leave when he saw her run up. He smiled before settling back into his spot to see what she would paint that day.

He watched in amusement as she repeatedly scowled at her work and changed it. He was disappointed that she only finished half, but was eager to see it when she had finished.

He saw he leaving, but was confused when she ran back to a tree. He smiled knowingly as he saw a piece of paper pinned there when she walked away. Then waiting until the coast was clear, he jumped down and took the note off the tree.

Jumping back into the cover of the trees, he opened it and read it.

Thank you for your lovely note and for your compliments. I really liked it. I'm also glad that you like my art. But, I need to ask a question. What's your name? You seem to know mine, so it's only fair. Besides, how will I know who I'm writing to? I would love to see some of your work as well. I will see you Saturday, well I guess, rather, you'll see me.

-Sakura

He smiled. 'So, she did like my note, yeah.' Deidara was happy to know that she would still come back. He also smiled at the playfulness of her note. It seemed that things would get pretty interesting from there.

o.o

The two were quite happy in just writing back and forth to each other, being flirty and playful at times. They loved knowing that someone was always there. But, all good things come to an end eventually. And only time will tell if this ending will be good or not.

Tory: There's chapter one. Sorry it's kinda short. It's only the first one, the others will probably be somewhere around twice this length. Probably. I may choose to continue this or maybe just leave it. That'll depend on the kind of feedback I get. I'm pretty happy with the story line myself. If you know my style of writing you'll know what kind of twisting road these two will follow. Well please review.
