– Unfinished Tales
Sometimes she wondered why her mother wasn't happier when the Elves came. Morwen was polite but often silent, and Nienor had seen her looking troubled after the Elves had talked quietly with her by the light of a dying fire. Nienor had wondered if the Elves were making her mother sad, but decided that couldn't be right, because her mother still welcomed them. She decided that it must be another problem, and the Elves were trying to help Morwen.
There had been six Elves last time, and they had smiled at her as they arrived, but had spent most of their time talking to her mother. When they left, her mother had farewelled them but spent the rest of the day in her chamber. When Nienor came into the room she wondered if she was intruding, but Morwen only drew her daughter close, and they silently watched the sun set over Nen Lalaith.
