A/N- I was bored during math class, so I wrote this. Yeah . . . takes place before Itachi returns to the village . . . kind of.
Disclaimer- I definatly own Naruto . . . yeah right
Sasuke sat quietly by the window . . . watching . . . waiting for someone who would never come. He didn't know why he wanted him to come, but he did. The hokage had just died, and Sasuke felt so . . . alone. More than ever before, he wanted to see his parents, his uncle, anybody. Even that annoying cousin that nobody liked would be welcomed with open arms. But no, there was nobody left, but him, his beloved nii-san, the one who had betrayed him. Sasuke wanted to kill him, needed to kill him, but at the same time he . . . didn't. Itachi was the only family that he had left, and even if he did kill everybody, Sasuke still loved his nii-san. But, Sasuke had to kill him, that was the cold reality. If only he could see him once, before he had to kill him, then things wouldn't seem so bad. So Sasuke waited, for the one who would never come.
Itachi looked down at his old village, filled with mixed emotions. Kisame stood quietly beside him, taking in the ruins that lay before them. It could have been worse . . . but it was still bad. Kisame cursed Orochimaru under his breath. That god-damned ninja always messed things up. Itachi promised himself that if that pedophile touched one hair on his brothers head, heads would roll. Itachi wouldn't wait for the other Akatsuki members, he would kill Orochimaru himself. The only thing that Itachi knew for sure was that Sasuke was still alive, so he would let Orochimaru live . . . for now. Itachi sighed. More than anything, he wanted to go home. He was feeling very homesick, though he knew that he could never go back. Sasuke hated him, and he always would. There was nothing that Itachi could do to change that, no matter how much he wanted to. So he just stood there, staring at his village, with pain-filled eyes.
Sasuke sighed, knowing (as he had all along), that his brother would never come. So Sasuke did the next best thing: he went to visit his family's grave. It wouldn't be the same as seeing his nii-san, but it was the best that he could do. On the way there, he picked some flowers growing on the side of the road, Itachi's favorite flowers.
"Nii-san?"
"What is it Sasuke?"
"Why do you like these flowers? The other ones are much prettier."
"The others may be pretty, but they grow in the obvious places. These ones grow in strange places, and they always grow in groups, like they're supporting each other."
"Like a family trying to live through difficult times?"
"Exactly like that."
Once he had finished picking, there were only two flowers of the group left, and there was a gap between them so they couldn't reach other. Just like him and Itachi. Sasuke stared at them for a moment, thinking about what had happened. Finally he sighed, and continued on his way.
Itachi turned to Kisame suddenly, so suddenly that Kisame jumped.
"I'm going for a walk. You go find out where that Uzumaki kid is."
"But Itachi-" Kisame started to say, but his partner had already started to walk away. Sighing, Kisame went to look for Naruto.
Itachi decided that he would go visit his family's graves. He couldn't go home, but he could go see those at least. It couldn't hurt. On his way there, Itachi came across those flowers that he liked, the ones that grew in groups . . . but these ones were different. There were only two, and there was a gap between them, so they couldn't help each other. When he looked at them, Itachi was reminded of him and Sasuke. Itachi kneeled down and gently pulled one of the flowers out of the ground, then replanted it by the other one. He did it carefully, he didn't want to damage the flower. Satisfied with his work, Itachi stood up, and continued his walk to the graves.
Sasuke had placed one flower on each grave, and he had made it to the graves of his parents. With tears in his eyes, he placed the two flowers on their graves. He missed them so much. Sometimes, he hated himself for thinking it, Sasuke missed his nii-san more. They had been so close and then . . . Sasuke struggled to hold the tears back. Why nii-san?
Itachi stepped out to where the graves were, and . . . noticed that there was a flower on everyone. his favorite flower. Itachi picked one up, and saw that it had just been placed there a short time ago. That meant that Sasuke had just left here. Itachi sighed with relief and disappointed. Them meeting here would be bad, very bad, but Itachi really wanted to see his younger brother. Itachi found his parents graves, and looked at them sadly. He kneeled down in front of them, and started to pray.
Sasuke was on his way back home. When he reached the spot where he picked the flowers, he glanced down at the remaining two, then froze. The bigger one had moved closer to the smaller one. Sasuke stared, speechless, at the flowers that seemed to have moved on their own. Now, they were supporting each other. Deep down, Sasuke prayed that this was a sign, that his brother would come back. Until that day, Sasuke would get stronger, would make him proud. Happy with his decision, Sasuke headed home.
Itachi was on his way to find Kisame. When he reached the two flowers, he smiled at them. Maybe one day, him and Sasuke could be like that. Until then, Itachi had a job to do: find that blasted shark. Smiling, Itachi went on his way.
A/N-HA HA!!! No Uchihacest here stupid fangirls :p. Uchihacest is gross, so it isn't in the story. Don't you just love what I do in math class. And yes, I know that the characters are OOC, but . . . thats okay :D. I like my random story, so there. Okay, I'll shut up now.
