Holy crudalony! It’s been so long since I’ve updated this story! Again I apologize for that! Other things have kept my attention like other stories family things and friend things. But I’m back with another chapter so let’s get to it.
Chapter 5: This is Who You Are!
The sun has now risen pronouncing that it was morning. Seagulls chirped as they flew over the massive blue water.
Sango was sitting next to the bed where Kagome had been resting on since Inuyasha brought her on their ship.
She groaned sadly as she stared down at the unconscious girl, ‘This seems…so unreal. Like some weird fantasy that all of us had hoped for-for ten years now.’
Sango, Miroku and the other crewmembers smiled as they spotted Inuyasha landing gracefully on the deck.
“Glad to see you made it back in one piece.” Miroku replied proudly to his best friend.
Inuyasha snorted as he narrowed his eyes, “What, did you actually think I would let that puny human kill me? Keh! Then you are just as dumb as I thought you were.”
Miroku grunted angrily as he narrowed his eyes, “Hey I was just joking. You don’t have to get all snippy about it.”
“Keh!” Inuyasha snorted in ignorance.
He then sighed as he looked back at his friends, “Did everyone else get on the ship okay?”
Miroku and Sango nodded.
“Yes everyone made it back on the ship in one piece.” Sango reported to him proudly.
Inuyasha nodded, “Good and the treasure?”
“Down below deck where it will be safe.” One of the other crewmembers reported as he pointed this thumb to the doors that went below deck.
Inuyasha nodded, “Excellent. Father, Hiraku and Sesshoumaru should be pleased with this.”
Miroku, Sango and the crewmembers chuckled happily.
“Mm?” Miroku hummed as he noticed the young girl in the hanyou’s arms, “Hey?”
Inuyasha and the others looked over at him as he pointed his finger at the girl in Inuyasha’s arms, “Who do you have there in your arms Inuyasha?”
“Mm?” Inuyasha hummed before jerking his head as he remembered the woman in his arms.
He sighed as he looked down at her staring at her face, “I found her on the ship. The captain captured her from her village.”
“Oh how terrible.” Sango replied sympathetically as her eyes softened as she walked up to Inuyasha to looked at the woman, “We should probably check her for any sign of injuries.”
Inuyasha nodded, “Yeah right.”
Sango moved her head to face her only to gasp as her eyes went wide when she saw her face.
“Sango?” She heard Miroku say to her softly in concern, “What’s the matter?”
“This…this girl…” Sango began as she continued to stare at the girl as her hand began to shake, she looked up at Miroku as he walked up next to her, “Has the same face as Kagome.”
“What!?” Miroku gabbed out softly before quickly turning his attention down at the woman and gabbed again when he saw her face, “But…but that can’t be! She must be a look a like.”
“I kind of find that hard to believe.” They heard Inuyasha speak gruffly.
They looked up at him.
“What do you mean?” Sango asked softly her eyes still wide filled with shock.
“She has the same scent as Kagome and…” He went into his vest pocket to take out the medallion, “Take a look at this.”
Miroku and Sango gasped in shock when they recognized that necklace that Inuyasha was holding up.
“That’s…” Miroku took it from him to get a closer look, “This is Kagome’s necklace. The one she showed us ten years ago!”
“The girl was wearing that and this was what those pirates wanted.” Inuyasha continued to explain.
“What?” Miroku gabbed softly as he raised his eyes at Inuyasha as Sango looked up at him with wide eyes.
“But how can that be!?” Sango asked the hanyou loudly while feeling her heart pound, “Kagome fell overboard ten years ago! Right into rushing waters! How could she have possibly survived!?”
“How the hell do you think I know!?” Inuyasha shouted at her with a light growl.
Sango jerked back as he continued, “All I know is that she looks like her and smells like her and has the same necklace that Kagome had! I wasn’t able to ask her anything before she collapsed!”
“Then I guess the best thing we can do for the moment is check her for wounds and let her rest until she has regain consciousness.” Miroku pointed out to his two friends.
‘This girl really does look like Kagome. Inuyasha even said that she had the same exact scent as her. So…’ Sango tilted her head, ‘Could she really be Kagome?’
Her head jerked when she heard a groan from the unconscious woman, ‘Oh is she finally staring to wake up?’
Kagome continued to groan as she squinted her eyes shut as some sweat dripped down her head.
“I’m going to get you!” Nine year old Kagome laughed out as she charged towards a dog hanyou boy with a wooden stick.
The hanyou boy grunted as he smirked making his fuzzy dog ears tweak as he held up his wooden stick, “Just you try it.”
“HA!” Kagome shouted out as she swung her wooden stick to whack the boy on top of his head only to have him vanish.
“Huh!?” Kagome gabbed out in shock as her stick it the wooden floor, “Where…where did he go?”
She gasped sharply when she heard a creepy laugh coming from all sides of her, she began searching around for the source of the mysterious laughter, “Who…Who’s there?”
“Heh!”
Kagome looked to the left side of her and gasped when two large red eyes emerged, “What!?”
“Don’t go thinking you can escape me.” The voice told her in a cocky tone.
“Mm?” She hummed when she felt the ground under her starting to shake.
Kagome looked down and gabbed when she saw the wooden floor starting to crack.
“You will never escape me!”
Just as the voice yelled that out the floor broke apart making Kagome fall right into the dark hole.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”
“AHHHHHHHHH!” Kagome screamed as she jerked up from the bed making Sango jerk back surprised by the sudden scream.
Kagome began to pant as she found herself staring at a wooden wall, ‘That…was just a dream?’ She sighed in relief while closing her eyes as she placed her hand over her fast beating heart, ‘What a relief.’
“Um…”
“Mm?” Kagome hummed as the mysterious female voice spoke up.
She turned her attention to meet the eyes of a worried Sango.
“Are you okay?” Sango asked in concern as she placed her hand on her shoulder.
“Uh…yeah I’m okay.” Kagome replied not really sure if she should be answering this stranger’s question. But the sound in the woman’s voice and the way she said it made Kagome feel…safe.
Sango smiled softly, “That’s good. You’ve been unconscious since my friend brought you aboard.”
“Friend?” Kagome repeated in confusion. She then gasped.
“Whoa hey!” He said suddenly walking up behind her, “You shouldn’t be moving if you’re in pain.”
Kagome grunted as she looked back him still holding on to her necklace, “I told you I’m fine.”
“But you said your head was pounding.” Inuyasha pointed out.
Kagome sighed with a slight groan, “But it’s something I’m use too.”
“Use too?” Inuyasha repeated arching a brow.
“But why are you caring so much anyway?” Kagome asked him squinting her eyes a bit, “You don’t even know me and I don’t even know you.”
‘That’s right! BrownTown was attacked by a group of ruthless pirates and kidnapped me so they could get a hold of my necklace. But then that demon…Inuyasha I believe helped me fight off the Captain that kidnapped me.’ Kagome thought to herself reviewing of what happened the other night.
“Yes my friend helped you when you were being attacked by that Captain pirate.” Sango reminded her catching Kagome’s attention, ‘It’s just like Inuyasha to help a woman, no matter who they are or how they treat him. He just can’t help it, ever since Kagome went overboard he has always done his best to protect any woman that were captured by pirates or any other sources of evil people or demons. But this one…’ Sango stared at the young woman across from her, ‘On the ship he seemed more determined to protect this one. Is it because she had the scent of Kagome on her and because she looks like her. Most likely that would be the case.’
“So if this Inuyasha is a friend of yours’ then that means…” Kagome narrowed her eyes, “You are a pirate as well?”
Sango jerked not liking the glare that Kagome was giving her, “Uh…” She nodded, “Yes if you must know.”
Kagome kept her glare, “Then if you two are pirates then that must mean that I’m on another pirate ship, am I correct?”
Sango sighed as she closed her eyes, “Yes you are correct.” She opened her eyes to look at the girl only to gab when a fist whacked her right across her cheek.
The force of the punch flew Sango back a bit. She slid to a stop and stood up to look at the woman with wide eyes while holding her cheek in her hand.
‘Did…did that girl just punch me!?’ Sango thought in shock.
Kagome grunted as she stood up beside the bed while glaring at the female pirate standing in front of her, “Just what the hell are you people planning to do with me? What do you want from me?” She then shouted in suspicion, “Are you pirates after my necklace too!?”
“Necklace?” Sango repeated softly, ‘Is she talking about the medallion that she was wearing?’
“I swear if you pirates are after my necklace I’ll-” Kagome reached for her necklace to grab it but only to grab the material of her dress. She gasped when she realized that she did not grab the medallion, “Huh?” She looked down at her chest only to find the medallion gone.
“What!?” Kagome gabbed out as her eyes went wide as she began rummaging around through her dress searching desperately looking for the necklace, “No no no! It must be here! It has to be! I know I had it when I was on the ship!”
Sango blinked as she watched the girl scramble around for the necklace that Inuyasha still had in his possession, ‘Should I tell her it’s in his possession? Or should I not? I probably shouldn’t considering if she knew she might go after Inuyasha and attack him in order to get it back. If it is really that important to her.’
“Oh no.” Kagome said softly to herself feeling her heart sink as she grabbed her head, “I must have dropped it.” She made a depressing sound as she fell on her knees.
Sango jerked, “Hey you okay?”
Kagome stared down at the ground as tears began to form in her eyes, “No I’m not okay! First those stupid pirates attack my village! Who kidnap me in the process then try ordering me around like I would be some sort of whined up doll! Then when I wake up I find out that I’m on another pirates ship and then I find out that my most valuable possession is gone!”
Sango frowned as she heard the girl sob out her tragic night, ‘Poor thing. She went through so much all in one night. I guess I can’t blame her for being hostile towards me.’
She then sighed as she slowly approached the distressed girl sobbing on the floor, “It’ll be okay. You’re safe now so you shouldn’t worry about a thing.”
Kagome jerked and glared up at Sango before brutally standing up herself making Sango jump back, “You stay away from me you pirate! I don’t want you anywhere near me!”
Kagome growled as she continued to glare, “Since I know once I have my guard down that you will use that opportunity to attack me and then kill me!”
Sango sighed in frustration, ‘Figured she would pull something like this.’ “Listen.” Sango looked over at her, “We have no intention on hurting or killing you. We just want to help you. You have practically everyone on this ship worried.”
“Worried?” Kagome repeated arching a brow before shouting, “How do I know you aren’t just making that up!?”
“Then explain why you are alive and not dead, since if we had the intention on killing you we would have already done it by now.” Sango pointed out blankly.
Kagome’s head jerked as she pointed that out, “Uh…well…” She narrowed her eyes, “You could have just been waiting for me to wake up so you could kill me while I was awake!”
Sango groaned as she rubbed her head, “I promise you we didn’t keep you alive just to murder you.” She looked at her, “Since I doubt that would make any sense.”
Kagome blinked as Sango continued, “Also if we had the intention on hurting or killing you, why would we be tending to your wounds and keeping you here in this room when you could have been staying in the jails below deck.”
Kagome gabbed softly as she jerked her head back, “Uh…well…uh…” She stared at the female pirate in front of her trying to figure out some sort of logic for what they were doing but failed to figure out at least one reason for their doings. But what really got Kagome was the woman’s voice when she pointed this out to her. It sounded so…so sincere and deep down in her gut she had the feeling this woman was indeed telling the truth, at least that’s what her heart was also telling her.
She then sighed in defeat she sat back down on the bed and lowered her head, “I guess that all makes sense.” She opened her eyes to stare at the floor, “Comparing you and that Inuyasha to the pirates that kidnapped me you two are acting way different than they did.” She looked up at Sango meeting her eyes, “You guys are acting a lot more friendlier than they did.”
Sango smiled pleased with the fact that she was finally trusting them, at least her anyway, “But I guess I can’t blame you for acting the way you did. It must have been scary being on their ship and going through all that.”
Kagome sighed as she looked up at Sango, “Oh it wasn’t all that bad. Actually to be honest I wasn’t really all that scared.”
“Hm.” Sango replied as she stared down at the girl.
Kagome lowered her head to look at the floor again, “I was actually…pretty excited. I don’t know why but fighting those pirates was actually…quite fun.”
“Fun?” Sango repeated, “You found fighting them fun?” ‘That’s weird she’s just a regular person and yet…she thought it was fun fighting those pirates. The only people I’ve ever heard say that were me, Miroku, Inuyasha and…’
“Who cares about the scenery!” Inuyasha replied still smiling getting the others to look at him, he picked up a stick, “I’m talking about all the pirate stuff we’ll be able to do. Like stealing, fighting people and stuff like that.” He swung the stick, “Man just thinking about it gets me excited!”
Kagome smiled, “You said it.” She grabbed another stick that was on the port and swung it towards Inuyasha.
Inuyasha grunted as he collided his stick with hers’ as she continued, “I’ll finally be able to show off some of my battle moves.”
Inuyasha grunted as he smiled, “That’s if you have any.”
Kagome smirked, “Of course I do.” She then pushed him making back off a bit and she ran towards him, “I am the daughter of a pirate captain. I have way more moves than you’ll ever know!”
Inuyasha smirked as he ran towards her, “Then let’s see what you’ve got!” The two jumped at each other making their sticks collide. Kagome quickly ducked down and spun her leg around to trip Inuyasha, but Inuyasha noticed and jumped up to dodge her leg and swung his stick only to collide with hers’ again.
Inuyasha grunted smiling, “Not bad Kagome. Looks like you do have some moves on ya.”
Kagome smirked, “This was only half of it!” She pushed her stick up pushing Inuyasha back a bit.
“Oh then show me the other half…if you have it that is.” Inuyasha replied still smiling liking the challenge.
She gasped, ‘Kagome.’ Sango stared at the woman with wide eyes, ‘What could that mean?’
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard Kagome chuckle lightly.
Kagome smiled up at her, “Sorry I didn’t mean to babble like that. But it’s something that I just don’t understand myself. There’s a lot of things about me that I don’t understand.”
“What?” Sango said softly as she stared at Kagome with wide eyes, ‘There are something’s about herself that she doesn’t understand? What does that mean?’
She tilted her head as she continued to smile, “So I was basically talking out loud. So I didn’t mean to put this all on you.”
Sango flinched as she snapped back to reality and shook her head, “Oh no it’s alright.” She looked down at Kagome, “I’m just glad you are trusting me with this.”
Kagome just smiled, ‘Well I guess I have no choice but to trust them. I mean I am on their ship and they did help me out so I guess I should repay them for that.’ She sighed as her smile faded as doubts started to creep into her mind, ‘I just hope trusting them doesn’t lead me to more trouble or even worse…death.’
Sango let out another soft gasp from her throat when she finally noticed Kagome’s eyes and then looked her over from top to bottom, ‘She…’ Sango found herself staring back into Kagome’s eyes, ‘She really does look too much like Kagome to be a coincidence.’ She narrowed her eyes slightly, ‘But it can’t be Kagome, because if it was wouldn’t she have recognized me and would have known I wouldn’t even dare try to hurt or kill her?’
“Mm?” Kagome hummed and jerked back slightly when she noticed Sango’s stare, “Uh…why are you staring at me like that? It’s giving me the creeps.”
Sango flinched as Kagome’s voice snapped her out of her thoughts, she shook her head, “Oh it’s nothing.” She stared back at her, “But would you mind telling me your name?” ‘There’s only one way to find out if she’s really Kagome.’
“Kimiko.” Kagome replied simply while crossing her arms.
“Huh?” Sango replied in surprise as she blinked, “Uh…Kimiko?” ‘That’s not what I was expecting at all.’
Kagome nodded, “Yep that’s me.” ‘Well it’s not. But it’s not like she’s going to know who I am and besides I don’t even know her.’
Sango groaned sadly in disappointment, “Oh I see.” ‘So I guess she really isn’t Kagome. But…’ She narrowed her eyes continuing her thoughts, ‘Why does she look like her? Why does she have the medallion that belonged to Kagome and why does she have the same scent as Kagome?’
“Hey Inuyasha!”
“Mm?” Inuyasha hummed as he turned his attention from the ocean to the crewmember, “What is it now?”
“Is there anything you want me to do?” The crewmember asked.
“Heh shouldn’t you be asking my father or Sesshoumaru?” Inuyasha asked him in a light grunt, “I’m not the captain ya know.”
“I know but they were in the middle of something and I did not want to interfere.” The man replied.
Inuyasha sighed, “So I’m the last resort I see.” He glanced over at him, “Why don’t you go give Waku a break and go be lookout.”
The man nodded and gave him a soldier solute, “Yes sir!”
Inuyasha stared at the man as he walked away to do his new job. He sighed softly as he went into his vest pocket and took out the medallion and stared at it.
‘This was the necklace that girl had and claimed it to be hers’.’ Inuyasha thought to himself.
Kagome quickly turned her head to find her necklace in the pirate’s hand, “Hey!” Kagome shouted quickly standing up catching the pirate’s attention, “Give that back!”
Kagome panted as she grabbed her necklace, “Don’t…you touch this!” She glared at the captain, “You stupid old pirate!”
‘But I also know…’
“Where’d you get that necklace?” Sango asked while pointing at the medallion, “You didn’t have it yesterday.”
Kagome smiled softly as she held the medallion in her hands, “I just got it this morning.” She looked down at it, “My dad said it belonged to my mother.”
Miroku smiled, “Well that was nice of him to give you something that belonged to your late mother.”
Kagome looked up at him with a smile, “No kidding.”
‘That this is the same exact necklace that Kagome showed us ten years ago. So…’ Inuyasha clenched the medallion in his hand as he narrowed his eyes, ‘Then why does that girl have it. Did she maybe find it on a beach shore or something?’
The pirate grunted, “Why the hell should I listen to you!?”
“But that’s the only thing I have!” Kagome shouted at him, “You can’t just take it from me!”
Inuyasha groaned as he opened his hand again to look at the medallion, ‘The only thing she has. Does that mean she doesn’t have a family or a home?’
“Inuyasha!”
Inuyasha growled hating the fact that he was interrupted again, ‘How many times are people going to interrupt me when I’m trying to think!?’ He placed the necklace back in his vest pocket as he turned his glare as Miroku walked up to him, “Oh it’s just you Miroku.”
“What were you expecting someone else?” Miroku asked as he followed Inuyasha’s position leaning against the railing.
“Feh just someone trying to annoy me that’s all.” Inuyasha grunted as he turned his attention back at the ocean, “People have been annoying me all day. So don’t mind me if I seem a bit irritated.”
Miroku smiled softly, “Figured you would say something like that. Though it’s only to be expected from you.”
“Mm? What’s that suppose to mean?” Inuyasha asked gruffly with his eyes narrowed.
Miroku looked over at him, “You’ve been like this ever since Kagome fell overboard. So all I’m saying is that we’ve grown accustomed to you being like this.”
Inuyasha snorted, “Keh! Like it’s something that I can help!” He growled as he dug his nails into his arms, “Just remembering that day makes my blood boil.”
“And none of us blame you for acting that way. All of us are still angry about it ourselves.” Miroku agreed softly feeling the pain that his friend was feeling, “Though we all knew you would be the main one hurt, other than Kagome’s father that is.” Miroku looked at Inuyasha meeting his glance, “Considering you were really close to Kagome to the point that you’ve actually forgotten that you hated her at one point in your life.”
Inuyasha’s cheeks turned pink before snorted as he glared at him, “Keh! You’re making it sound like I loved her or something! I didn’t love her! She was just a friend and I treated her the same way I treated any other friend!”
“I was even implying that you loved her.” Miroku pointed out shocked that he would actually accuse him of that.
Inuyasha flinched.
“I was only implying that you and Kagome were really close friends.” Miroku added to his comment before sighing as he turned his attention back to the ocean, “We were all very close to her. So it still hurts remembering what happened back than.”
Inuyasha grunted, he was right. Even though it has been ten years since that day…he still hurts him and everyone else on the ship that were there when it happened. However, that memory his much more painful like how painful it was when it happened. Maybe it was because they had that look alike on the ship, which had brought that painful memory back into the front of his mind and all the other memories before that day. Which made everything hurt way more than usual.
“Say Inuyasha?” Miroku spoke up softly snapping Inuyasha out of his thoughts.
Inuyasha glanced at him, “Yeah? What is it?”
“Do you really think that girl, that you brought on board the other night…could really be Kagome?” Miroku asked as he glanced at Inuyasha.
Inuyasha frowned as the pain started to come back before grunting softly as he turned his attention away from his friend, “Heh what makes you think I know?”
“Well you said she looked a lot like Kagome and had the same scent as her and had the medallion that Kagome showed us ten years ago.” Miroku reminded him turning his gaze completely towards him making Inuyasha look back at him, “So could it be possible that she really could be Kagome?”
Inuyasha sighed, “I don’t know. I mean she could be but…” He looked back at the ocean, “But it seems too far fetch to me. I mean I would like to believe that girl down there sleeping safely below deck could really be her but…” He lowered his eyes to look down at the water while clenching his fists, “It just seems…too good to be true.”
Miroku noticed his friend’s gesture and stared back up at him when he began hearing the hanyou growl softly.
“Inuyasha! Miroku!”
“Mm?” Inuyasha and Miroku hummed as that shout snapped them out of their thoughts to look towards the deck steps to find Sango running up to them.
“Oh Sango.” Miroku replied as they turned around to face her, “So how’s our little friend down below deck?”
Sango let out a loud breath, “Well…” She stood up straight to meet their gazes, “She has finally woken up and she’s not as tired as I thought she would be.”
“Well duh she’s been unconscious since last night.” Inuyasha replied roughly loud while crossing his arms, “So did you manage to get any information out of her?”
“All I got was her name.” Sango informed before sighing, “I didn’t go any further since the girl is pretty restless.” Sango began rubbing her sore cheek that was starting to bruise, “When I told her I was a pirate and that she was on a pirate ship she punched me and accused me of thinking that I would hurt or kill her.”
Miroku sighed, “Guess it can’t be helped. With her being held captive on that ship the other night I can’t blame her for being so restless.”
“Yeah same here.” Sango agreed softly as she glanced at Miroku with a sad stare.
“So what’s the girl’s name?” Inuyasha asked getting back to the topic at hand.
Sango looked up at him and sighed softly, “Kimiko, she told me her name was Kimiko.”
“Kimiko huh?” Inuyasha replied softly as his face grew sad, ‘So she isn’t Kagome. But I don’t get it!’ He lowered his eyes as he stared at the ground oddly, ‘If her name isn’t Kagome then why the hell does she smell like her. Unless my senses are imagining things.’
Sango stared at the deck floor in thought.
Kagome smiled up at her, “Sorry I didn’t mean to babble like that. But it’s something that I just don’t understand myself. There’s a lot of things about me that I don’t understand.”
“But ya know…”
Miroku and Inuyasha turned their attention towards as she raised her head from looking at the floor.
“I’m beginning to suspect that Kimiko isn’t really her real name.” Sango replied firmly as she narrowed her eyes.
“Huh? What makes you say that Sango?” Miroku asked curiously.
“Just by the way she acted when she woke up.” Sango explained softly before sighing, “When she discovered that her necklace was missing she began rummaging around for it desperately like it was her whole life and she even pointed out that the necklace was her most valuable possession.”
“Did she mention why?” Inuyasha asked as he arched a brow.
Sango shook her head as she stared up at him, “No she didn’t give me that knowledge. But then she started telling me of what she went through the other night and when I pointed out that she must have been scared she told me that she wasn’t scared.”
“She wasn’t scared?” Miroku repeated as he arched a brow, “I thought I girl like her would.”
Sango looked over at him and nodded, “You would think.” She looked back up at Inuyasha, “But she found the fight with those pirates…strangely exciting and fun.”
Inuyasha blinked as Sango explained of what the girl told her.
“What she told me about her being excited…almost reminded me of what Kagome would say when it came to fighting.” Sango pointed out to them softly.
Miroku and Inuyasha jerked as she pointed that out to them. She had a point, what that girl said to Sango sounded almost exactly of what Kagome would say.
‘But that could just be coincidence. I’m sure there are other girls who find fighting fun…other than Sango.’ Inuyasha thought to himself but half of him…didn’t believe his own words.
Sango sighed softly, “She then told me that her feeling excited was something she couldn’t explain and something that she couldn’t understand. Apparently of what she told me there’s a lot of things about herself that she doesn’t even understand.”
“Huh? What’s that suppose to mean?” Inuyasha asked raising a brow.
Sango shrugged, “I don’t know. It could mean anything. I mean just taking of what she said half of me thinks that this girl could be Kagome but the other half of me doesn’t believe that she’s Kagome.”
“Yeah I feel the same way.” Miroku replied softly as he looked at her sadly.
Sango frowned, “I mean if it really was Kagome wouldn’t she have recognized us or told us her real name was Kagome and not Kimiko?”
“Yeah you’d think.” Inuyasha grunted softly.
“Maybe there’s a reason behind that.”
Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku jumped when they heard the sudden voice point that out to them. They quickly turned their attention behind Sango to find Sesshoumaru standing right there with his arms crossed.
“Sesshoumaru!?” Inuyasha said loudly in surprise.
‘This dress kinda makes me look like a pumpkin.’ Kagome thought randomly to herself before letting out another sigh.
“Hey why are you looking at me like that?” Kagome asked Sango as she noticed the sadness in the woman’s eyes.
She saw Sango flinch and shake her head before smiling softly at her, “Oh it’s nothing. You name…sounds really nice.”
“Uh…thanks.” Kagome replied while arching a brow as she tilted her head.
Sango sighed, “Anyway if you are strong enough to stand I think you should get dressed into something else.”
“What’s wrong with the way I dress!?” Kagome asked glaring at her offensively.
Sango brought up her hands and waved them defensively, “That’s not what I meant. What I meant was that you dress is pretty torn up and I figured you would want to change into something that hasn’t been torn up.”
“Mm?” Kagome replied before looking down at her dress and sighed and knew Sango was right. Her dress has seen better days and was completely filthy. She can’t wear something like this, even if she was on a pirate ship.
She sighed as she looked up at Sango, “I guess you’re right this dress isn’t worth wearing anymore.”
Sango chuckled lightly as she smiled softly at her again, “Okay there are some extra clothes in the dresser and in the closet.” Sango instructed as she pointed towards the other side of the room.
Kagome followed her finger to see the dresser and closet that she was talking about.
“Once you are dressed you can come out and you can hand me your dress and maybe I can get a friend of mine to fix yours’.” She heard Sango say.
Kagome looked back at her and nodded, “Thank you.”
‘That woman was so nice to me. It’s hard to imagine she’s even a pirate.’ Kagome thought to herself before raising her eyes to look down the hallway, ‘But there’s something about her kindness that’s…familiar to me.’
“Mm?” Kagome hummed as her vision became white and soon began seeing herself walking down a hallway similar to the one she was in now.
“Argh! When are we going to do something fun!”
“What do you mean? Isn’t this already fun?”
“Well…a little but…” “I want to do something fun that’s…pirate like!”
She gasped as her eyes went wide making the vision go away, ‘What…what was that just now? Was that…’ She lowered her head to stare at the wooden floor, ‘Another memory?’
Kagome quickly shook her head as she picked up her head to find herself slowly approaching the upper deck doors, “I’ll worry about that later.”
“What are you doing out here Sesshoumaru?” Miroku asked before arching a brow, “I thought you were in your father’s courtiers talking?”
Sesshoumaru grunted as he crossed his arms, “We finished talking. It was basically deciding if we should head back to the village or not.”
“Are we?” Sango asked curious about their decision.
Sesshoumaru nodded, “Yes since we did reclaim what we went out for. So it’s only right for us to go back and put it back where it belongs.”
Miroku, Sango and Inuyasha nodded in agreement.
Miroku sighed, “It’s just a shame that Captain Hiraku couldn’t come with us this time.”
Sango looked back at him, “Well he had to stay behind and take care of Souta. I mean the kid did come down with a terrible fever.”
“Yes I know. But maybe if he was here he could probably identify that girl and maybe tell us if she is Kagome or not.” Miroku pointed out in disappointment.
“Are you people really that idiotic or are you people just too much in denial?” Sesshoumaru asked in a light snarl.
“Hey! Who are you calling idiotic!?” Inuyasha shouted out defensively.
“Come on little brother even you should have been able to pick up her scent.” Sesshoumaru grunted as he gave his little brother a blank stare, “That scent from that girl is the exact same as Kagome’s.”
“What?” Inuyasha gabbed as his eyes went wide, “Are you telling me that my sense aren’t just imagining things?”
“Hmph of course not, especially when I’m smelling the scent as well.” Sesshoumaru replied.
“But how can that be!?” Inuyasha asked loudly as he narrowed his eyes at his elder brother, “How could she have survived!?”
“You guess is as good as mine.” Sesshoumaru replied with a blank expression.
“But if that really was Kagome wouldn’t she have known where she was or who we were or should have given us her real name instead of a fake one?” Sango asked as she looked at the elder dog demon with wide eyes.
“There could be many reasons why she’s acting like that.” Sesshoumaru explained, “She could just be protecting herself by giving herself a fake identity.”
“Doesn’t seem like it to me.” Sango replied as she rubbed her cheek, “Even if she was trying to protect herself if she really was Kagome she wouldn’t have punched me and accused me of planning to hurt or kill her.”
“Okay so maybe that might not be the reason.” Sesshoumaru replied before crossing his arms as he narrowed his eyes, “But there is so much about her that reminds me too much of Kagome to be a coincidence and even you guys have to admit that.”
Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku sighed while lowering their eyes. They had to admit he had a point.
“Damn is that bright.” Kagome winced softly as she walked out of the doors and closed the door behind her.
She walked onto the deck and gasped softly when she saw all the pirate crewmembers busy working either washing the deck floor, tying up ropes and all sorts of things that pirates do. But of what shocked her was that all the pirates were humans, demon and even half demons and all of them were working together.
‘Wow now this is what I call a rare moment.’ Kagome thought to herself.
“Ah I see you are awake young one.”
“Mm?” Kagome hummed as she looked up as a demon who looked almost exactly like Inuyasha walking up to her, “Oh!” She turned to face him, “Uh who are you?”
Inutashio stared down at the girl, ‘This girl…has the same scent and looks almost exactly like Hiraku’s daughter. Hmm I can see why she has most of the crewmembers in a confused state.’ He smiled, “I’m Captain Inutashio I command this ship and you are…”
“Kimiko.” Kagome introduced herself, “My name’s Kimiko.”
Inutashio tilted his head as he smiled sadly at her, “Ah nice name…Kimiko.”
Kagome noticed the sadness in his eyes, ‘You know that is the second time I’ve seen someone giving me the sad look whenever I give them my name. What’s up with that?’
Inutashio sighed softly as he patted her on the head, “Well Kimiko welcome aboard.”
“Welcome aboard?” Kagome repeated as she looked up at him in confusion.
“Yes, since you are stuck with us until we reach the village. So I just figured to give you a warm welcome.” Inutashio told her softly.
Kagome looked up at him in awe, ‘Warm welcoming?’
“Yo Captain Inutashio!?”
“Mm?” Inutashio hummed as he turned his attention behind Kagome as he met the eyes of one of his men.
“I need help with these ropes.” The man shouted out to him in a light grunt.
Inutashio sighed, “I’ll be right there.” He looked down at Kagome and patted her on the shoulder catching her attention again, “Don’t worry no one on this ship is going to do anything bad to you so just relax.”
Kagome just stared up at him in awe, “What?”
Inutashio just smiled as he walked passed her towards his men to help him with the ropes. Kagome watched him with wide eyes, ‘That was the most weirdest things I have ever heard! These pirates are really freaking me out!’
She let out a soft sigh, ‘Well…at least I can relax a little bit more.’ Kagome glanced over at the captain, ‘Since it does appear that girl was right that they have no intention on hurting me or even killing me.’
“Hey?” She heard a rough soft voice ask her.
She groaned as she looked up meeting Inuyasha’s eyes as he knelt down in front of her.
“You okay?” He asked.
“Mmm maybe I should find him.” Kagome said to herself out loud as she glanced at the wooden floor before looking out to stare at the sky, “Might as well thank him for saving me.”
Inuyasha was in the same position he was in before Miroku came up to him. He continued to stare out into the ocean remembering what him, his brother and his friends had just discussed before retreating to do some of their chores.
“She then told me that her feeling excited was something she couldn’t explain and something that she couldn’t understand. Apparently of what she told me there’s a lot of things about herself that she doesn’t even understand.”
“Maybe there’s a reason behind that.”
“There is so much about her that reminds me too much of Kagome to be a coincidence and even you guys have to admit that.”
‘Guess Sesshoumaru has a point. She seems so much like Kagome to be a coincidence.’ Inuyasha thought to himself, ‘And if he is picking up Kagome’s scent from that girl than my own senses are not imagining the smell. But…’ He looked at the sea sadly, ‘What if he’s wrong? What if she really is some look alike? We could just end up getting her angry with us for even assuming that she was Kagome.’
“So I was right.”
“Mm?” Inuyasha hummed as his ears perked up at the familiar sound. He turned his gaze from the sea and gabbed when he saw Kagome walking up to him.
Kagome smiled, “You were the one that was up here.”
“K-Kagome?” Inuyasha said softly with wide eyes unsure of what he was seeing.
“Uh no it’s Kimiko.” Kagome corrected him as she stood right beside him.
Inuyasha jerked slightly as she pointed that out to him and grumbled as he turned his attention away from, “Uh…sorry about that.” ‘Damn! She’s still saying her name’s Kimiko not Kagome.’
“You know that is the second time you have called me that.” Kagome pointed out to him as she stared up at him.
“Heh sorry.” Inuyasha grunted, “You just look so much like someone that I knew a long time ago.”
“Hmm.” Kagome replied softly as she stared up at him while feeling her heart sink, ‘Whoever this Kagome was…must have really been important to him if he keeps mistaking me as her and always looks sad when I tell him I’m Kimiko.’
“So…”
“Mm?” Kagome hummed as she looked up at him even though he didn’t turn his attention towards her.
“Are you feeling alright?” Inuyasha asked softly.
“Yeah I’m okay.” Kagome replied as she smiled softly as she turned to face the sea, “I actually came up here to thank you for saving me the other night.”
Inuyasha glanced at her before his cheeks turned light pink, he snorted as he turned his glance away from her with his eyes narrowed, “Heh it was just something I had to do. Don’t take it personally or anything.”
“Still thank you for helping me.” Kagome repeated herself.
Inuyasha grunted as he lowered his head to look at the water underneath the boat, “Hmph don’t mention it.”
Kagome blinked as she stared up at him, ‘He really does…look very familiar to me. Maybe I have met him before now that I think about it.’ Her eyes went wide when she remembered her dream when she was fighting with a dog hanyou who looked almost exactly like the one standing next to her.
Kagome let out a frustrated sigh and puffed up her cheeks, “You jerk! You weren’t suppose to hear me!”
The hanyou chuckled as he sat up and turned to look at her as he opened his golden amber eyes, “You really thought you could avoid these ears.” He pointed up at his ears as he made them twitch slightly.
“Inuyasha.” Kagome said out loud without thinking.
“Mm? What?”
She gasped when she heard him speak up from the side of her. Kagome looked up at him, “Sorry…” She noticed Inuyasha arching a brow as she turned her attention back towards the ocean, “That name just randomly pops into my head now. At least ever since that image appeared in my head last night.”
Inuyasha stared at her oddly, “So my name just randomly pops into your head? And you don’t even know why?”
Kagome nodded her head, “Yes exactly.”
Inuyasha arched a brow, ‘Okay that’s weird.’ He then shook his head.
“When she discovered that her necklace was missing she began rummaging around for it desperately like it was her whole life and she even pointed out that the necklace was her most valuable possession.”
“Yeah that’s right.” Inuyasha said out loud suddenly.
“Mm?” Kagome hummed once she heard Inuyasha speak up again, “What is it?”
Inuyasha dug into his vest pocket and took out the medallion, “Here this is yours’ I imagine.”
Kagome gasped as her heart began to sore, “My necklace!” She grabbed from Inuyasha and looked down at it and smiled as she held it tightly against her chest, ‘Yes! I have it back with me!’ She smiled up at Inuyasha, “Where did you find this?”
Inuyasha stared at her blankly, “You had it in your hand and I took it figuring you would drop it when we came aboard this ship.”
‘He had it all along?’ Kagome thought to herself before smiling again, “Thank you so much! I don’t know what I would have done if I was never able to see this anymore.”
“Heh no problem.” Inuyasha grunted, ‘She really is acting like it was her whole life.’ “So…” He spoke up again catching Kagome’s attention again, he narrowed his eyes, “Where exactly did you get that necklace?”
“Mm?” Kagome hummed, “Why do you ask?”
Inuyasha kept his glare, “Because my friend at that same necklace in her possession and I’m just wondering how the hell you got it!”
Kagome flinched while hearing the growl in his voice and hesitated with her answer, “Uh…um…” She began rubbing her head, ‘I really don’t remember where I got it. According to Masa and Saho this necklace was already on me when they found me down at the shoreline.’
Inuyasha grunted as he continued to glare, “Keh fine!”
“Huh?” Kagome said as his loud snort interrupted her thoughts as he turned away from her.
“You don’t have to tell me. Since it could have been your parents who gave you that!” Inuyasha snorted out loudly as he glared at the floor, ‘The necklace could have just fallen off of Kagome and could have been washed up on a shore or something. There is no possible way Kagome could have survived those waters no matter how much that girl smells, looks and acts like her! Kagome couldn’t have survived! There’s just no way!’
“Are you people really that idiotic or are you people just too much in denial?” Sesshoumaru asked in a light snarl.
Inuyasha snorted, ‘So what if I’m in denial!? I speak the truth! Kagome is dead and that’s that!’
Kagome stared at Inuyasha’s back with wide eyes, ‘He…he sounds so angry. But why? Why is he so angry because I have this necklace?’
“Because my friend at that same necklace in her possession and I’m just wondering how the hell you got it!”
‘His friend huh?’ Kagome thought to herself and tilted her head as she arched a brow, ‘Is the friend this Kagome person? The person he keeps mistaking me as?’
“You just look so much like someone that I knew a long time ago.”
‘I look…so much like her.’ Kagome repeated in her mind and gripped tightly on the necklace in her hand, ‘And…I have something that belonged to her but…I had this necklace on me since the day I was found. So how could it have belonged to somebody else? Did Masa and Saho lie to me? No, no that…that couldn’t be.’ Her eyes grew soft as she raised her head to stare at Inuyasha’s head, “Inuyasha?”
Inuyasha stopped walking towards the stairs to look at her, “What?”
Kagome kept her grip on the necklace as she asked loudly, “Tell me…who is this Kagome person? What happened to her?”
Inuyasha stared at her oddly before narrowing his eyes while snorting as he turned his head away from her, “Heh all I’m going to say is that Kagome fell overboard ten years ago…”
Kagome gasped.
Inuyasha glanced back at her, “And she’s been dead ever since then.”
Kagome’s eyes went wide.
“Oh can you believe it Kimiko?”
“Mm?” Kagome hummed as she turned her attention up towards Saho as she walked up behind her, “Oh Saho.”
Saho smiled down at her, “This is the day…the day that we found you ten years ago.”
“Ten years ago?” Kagome repeated, “As it really been that long.”
Saho sighed, “Yes it has and to imagine you are now nineteen.” She smiled again, “Time sure does fly.”
“Was she nine when this happened!?” Kagome asked loudly feeling her heart pound in panic.
Inuyasha’s eyes went wide and stopped his foot just as he was about to step down the stairs.
He placed his foot back on the platform and looked over his shoulder back at Kagome and took note of her wide eyes, “Yeah.” He replied in shock yet in confusion as he turned to face her, “How did you know that?”
Kagome stared at him with wide eyes before softening them, “Lucky guess.”
‘Just a guess? How can that be she hit it straight on like she knew!’ Inuyasha thought to himself, he narrowed his eyes, ‘Okay now I am convinced that this isn’t just a coincidence.’ Inuyasha opened his mouth to say something when Kagome cut him off.
“Inuyasha?” Kagome spoke up suddenly.
Inuyasha jerked his head back, “Yeah? What is it?”
Inuyasha was now inches away from her face, “Because I will protect you, I promise you I will.”
“Did…” She raised her head to look up at him, “Did you promise this person that you’d protect her?”
“What?” Inuyasha gabbed out softly as his eyes went wide.
“Kagome, I promise you nothing will happen to you or anyone else if those things do happen.” Inuyasha reassured her, as he was now inches away from her face, “Because I will protect you, I promise you I will.”
He jerked as he narrowed his eyes as he shouted, “How would you know anything about that!?”
“That doesn’t answer my question!” Kagome shouted out to him.
Inuyasha growled before shouting, “Yes! I did make that promise!” He grunted as he kept his eyes narrowed, “To Kagome.”
Kagome gasped as her eyes went wide, “To K-Kagome?” ‘B-But I don’t get it! Why am I remembering something that he told Kagome? Why am I getting her memories?’ She gulped, ‘Unless…’ Kagome stared up at Inuyasha who was now standing in front of her glaring at her with a determined expression.
Inuyasha growled as he stared at the woman in front of him, ‘This isn’t a coincidence. This isn’t a coincidence!’ “Kagome?” Inuyasha said softly as he walked up to her.
Kagome held the medallion tightly into her chest, ‘There he goes saying that name again. But…maybe that’s who I am. I mean of all the things that Inuyasha has told me, that I look like her and have the necklace that she had. She went overboard ten years ago when she was nine and that was the exact age and year that I was found on the beach shore in BrownTown.’ She lowered her eyes as she arched a brow, ‘So could this Kagome person…really be me?’
“Kagome?” She heard Inuyasha say again getting her to raise her eyes a bit to face his chest.
Inuyasha stared down at her with wide eyes, “Is that…is that really you?”
Kagome groaned as she frowned, “Inuyasha…I am…so confused.”
“Confused?” Inuyasha repeated, “What are you talking about?”
Kagome groaned as she finally looked up at him meeting his eyes, “The truth is…I don’t know who I am.”
Inuyasha gabbed as his eyes went wide as he jerked his head back a bit, “You…you don’t know who you are?”
Kagome shook her head, “No I don’t.” She lowered her eyes to look down at the wooden floor, “The last thing I remember was waking up in somebody’s house. Which were the people who have taken care of me for the past ten years. When I woke up I thought they were my parents but they made it clear that I wasn’t their child. They asked me my name and everything but I couldn’t remember a thing.”
Inuyasha continued to stare at her with wide eyes, “So…Kimiko isn’t your real name is it?”
Kagome shook her head as she raised her eyes back up at him, “No it isn’t. They just gave me that name until I remembered my own, which hasn’t happened yet.”
“I’m beginning to suspect that Kimiko isn’t really her real name.”
“She then told me that her feeling excited was something she couldn’t explain and something that she couldn’t understand. Apparently of what she told me there’s a lot of things about herself that she doesn’t even understand.”
“Maybe there’s a reason behind that.”
Inuyasha gasped as his eyes stayed wide open, ‘Yes…maybe that’s the reason. The reason why she may look like Kagome and has the same scent as her and the necklace and not the name is because she doesn’t know who she even is!’
“Yes that makes all perfect sense!” Inuyasha spoke up suddenly.
“Huh?” Kagome replied as she tilted her head.
“You must be Kagome!” Inuyasha told her with determination in his voice while also feeling his own heart beginning to pound, “You look like her, smell like her, you have her necklace and you know something’s that only Kagome knows. You even pointed out that you found yourself waking up in somebody else’s house ten years ago when you were nine and that was the time that Kagome fell overboard.” He narrowed his eyes, “You must be her!”
Kagome sighed as she walked away from him.
“Hm Kagome?” Inuyasha said not sure what she was doing.
“Yeah I think…you are right Inuyasha.” Kagome replied softly.
“Huh?” Inuyasha replied softly.
Kagome turned to face him, “What you told me and of what I know me being this Kagome makes a lot of sense. But what makes it even more sensible is the fact that you said you were friends with this Kagome and…” Kagome’s stare softened, “The only thing I seem to be remembering is the name Inuyasha and dog hanyou boy that looks just like you.”
Inuyasha gasped as his eyes went wide, ‘Yes that’s right!’ “That’s because it is me you fool!”
Kagome smiled softly as she nodded, “Yes you’re right.”
Kagome smiled as she knelt down behind his head and opened her mouth ready to yell.
“Hey Kagome.” She heard the young hanyou say blankly.
Kagome narrowed her eyes, “Who said I couldn’t at least try?”
The hanyou just laughed making Kagome huff while turning her head away from him with her arms crossed.
“Aw Kagome don’t be like that.” The hanyou said to her, “It’s not my fault that you have loud feet.”
“Hey!” Kagome replied loudly glaring at him and pointed a finger at him, “I do not have loud feet!”
“Then explain why I keep catching you every time you try sneaking up on me?” The hanyou asked while smiling at her.
Kagome stared at him for a minute before huffing as she turned her head away, “Hmph!”
Kagome continued to smile as her eyes began to water, “Inu…yasha…”
“Mm?” Inuyasha hummed just then his head jerked when he smelt salt and water, ‘Tears?’ He focused on Kagome just in time to find her running towards him. He gabbed when he felt her fly right into his arms while wrapping her own arms under his armpits and placed her hands on the back of his shoulders.
“K-Kagome?” Inuyasha shuttered out as his cheeks turned red as he felt his heart beginning to pound again.
Kagome smiled and attacked him with a hug, “Thank you Inuyasha!”
“Eh!?” Inuyasha said quite shocked and surprised that Kagome jumped on him like that. His cheeks started to turn a light pink, “K-Kagome?”
Kagome smiled against his shoulder and closed her eyes peacefully as the tears began to fall from her eyes, “You have no idea how long I’ve waited for this moment Inuyasha.”
“Huh?” Inuyasha spoke up softly with his eyes wide open.
“Ten years Inuyasha. Ten long years I have waited patiently to remember something or even a face of someone I knew and waited for someone who knew me to come looking for me.” Kagome squeezed her eyes shut as she gripped tightly onto Inuyasha’s shirt, “But nothing ever happened! No one ever came for me and no memories were ever regained!”
“K-Kagome, were…were you waiting all this time for us to find you?” Inuyasha asked softly now feeling his heart sink at the thought of her waiting for someone to find her just made him feel more…horrible.
Kagome sniffed before nodding her head, “Yes I was.”
“Kagome! I swear if I would have known where you were I would have gone to where you were and taken you back!” Inuyasha pointed out to her loudly in a soft growl, “I would have! I’ve had have known where you were.” ‘Or even if you were even alive.’
“I know.” Kagome sighed out softly as she opened her eyes still keeping her grip on the hanyou’s shirt, “But after ten years have passed I finally decided to leave the village that I had stayed at and search for my past.”
“Hm.” Inuyasha hummed as he continued to listen to Kagome’s words.
“And that’s when those pirates attacked and kidnapped me in order to get my necklace. For whatever reason is still unknown to me.” Kagome replied softly, “But in a way I’m glad they kidnapped me, because if they hadn’t I wouldn’t have found you…someone who knows me.”
Kagome then smiled warmly as she snuggled her face into his shoulder making the hanyou turn more red, “Since you are my childhood friend aren’t you…Inuyasha?”
Inuyasha gasped as his eyes went wide in shock. He then grunted as he narrowed his eyes sadly as he wrapped his arms around Kagome firmly, “Kagome!”
Kagome gasped in surprise as she felt his strong arms wrap around and held her tight, “Inuyasha?”
“Yes Kagome…you’re right. You were my childhood friend.” Inuyasha pointed out to her softly in a light grunt, “And you still are.”
Joyful tears emerged from Kagome’s eyes as she buried her face into Inuyasha’s shoulder and held him tight, “Inuyasha!”
Inuyasha returned the tight embrace he held her so tight and firmly feeling like if he’d let her go…she would disappear and he would never see her again.
‘Kagome…she’s…she’s finally back with me. At least physically and half mentally but still…she’s here…in my arms…safe and sound.’ Inuyasha buried his face into her shoulder as he held his hand firmly on the back of her head, ‘I swear to you Kagome this time I will keep my promise! I will never let you go! I won’t let anything happen to you again! I swear it!’
Sighs Phew finally I have the next chapter out. And it’s longer than the last one, which I hope will make up for the really long wait. Again I am sorry for the late update and I promise I will try to get the next chapter out as soon as possible. Now in the next chapter Inuyasha tries to help Kagome remember who she once was but then a storm comes and that’s all I’m giving away for today.
So see ya next time!
