CHAPTER 1
Rain came down in quick heaps. It was late and all roads seemed to be abandon. It had been another long day and Rory wanted nothing more than to go home. She took another long sip of her coffee and sighed. She examined the ring on left index finger. The giant rock weighed her down in every way. It was a burden on her soul.
In a month she was getting married to a man she didn’t love. Logan Huntzberger. She turned him down once, but Logan was never quick to surrender. Rory didn’t know what to do. If only Lorelai was alive.
She would have never agreed to marry Logan. She wouldn’t be spending all her free time at the paper. She wouldn’t have left Stars Hollow for good. She wouldn’t be depressed and lonely. She wouldn’t have cut herself almost bleeding to death. Tears slowly streamed down her face.
Suddenly, her phone began to ring. Wiping her tears she felt for her phone in the passenger seat. Her vibrating phone brushed her fingers and fell to the floor.
‘Hey, this is Rory’s cell…’
“Damn it!” Rory reached over the passenger seat and grabbed her phone.
‘…please leave a message after the beep. Mom, don’t start the movie yet! Ding-Dong! Pizza’s here! Larry say hello to Rory’s new phone. Heeeey! Everyone that was Larry! Mom! Beep!’
‘Mary, it’s me. Look, we really need to talk. Rory I am sorry. I really made some mistakes. Please forgive me. I love you, Rory. Mary …Beep!’
Blood was everywhere. Blood, rain, and glass. Blood was pooled on the dashboard and dripping on the stirring wheel. Rory touched her forehead and her hand was quickly covered in her blood. Rory started breathing even faster. She couldn’t think straight. She needed to get help. Rory pushed her smashed door open sending bits of glass everywhere. She tried to stand, but she stumbled to the muddy ground.
It was raining fiercely now. Rory laid on her stomach desperately trying to think. Her wedding ring was gone. Her breathe began to slow down. It was almost a relief to have it gone. To have its heavy burden lifted from her soul. She let her throbbing head rest on the slick, wet ground. She could hear sirens in the distance, but everything was fainting quickly.
“Mom.”
