Disclaimer: I own nothing, would like to, but don’t. I also don’t own Boston by Augustana.

A/N: I like music, and I like TV. That’s why I like songfics. I also love this song.

In the light of the sun, is there anyone?
Oh it has begun
Oh dear you look so lost, eyes are red and tears are shed
This world you must've crossed
She said...

It had ended before it had even begun, and the thought of this tore Olivia apart. She wanted to be with him, she already loved him, she wanted him to love her too. But he couldn’t, he wouldn’t. He had told her that he was going back to Kathy, and she hated him for it. There was nothing she liked about him, excpet for everything. Even when he was angry she loved him. That was why it was so hard for her. No one else saw this, not even Munch. Elliot talked to her regularly, but it wasn’t the same. Conversation did not come easy, and it all seemed forced. She wasnted to smack him and tell him he was wrong, but even then he wouldn’t listen to her. He was too stubborn, he didn’t even get the subbtle hints Casey would drop whenever she saw him. It was over, and she knew it, she just wished it wasn’t.

You don't know me and you don't even care, oh yeah
Well you said...
You don't know me and you don't wear my chains, oh yeah...

As the sun began to set on the world Olivia kept working, even though everyone else was gone. There was nothing to work on and yet she still didn’t leave. She didn’t want to go home, it was empty there, it reminded her of Elliot. Work should too, but it didn’t. She could always keep her mind busy, so she chose not to go home. She had thought that she was alone but she heard footsteps coming toward the bullpen. She recognized the footsteps and her heart fell. For a moment she considered running off and hiding, waiting until he was gone, but she didn’t. He walked in and looked at her, it was obvious something was wrong, but she didn’t know what.

Olivia had no real idea what was going on in his life, other than he was back with Kathy, go for his kids. But what about her. He had lead her on for so many years Olivia didn’t know what she was going to do now that that was over.

Essential yet appealed
Carry all your thoughts across an open field
Where the flowers gaze at you...they're not the only ones who cry
When they see you
You said...

“Why are you still here?” Elliot asked her. She tried to ask him first but he beat her to it, so she waited her turn.

“Didn’t feel like going home. How ‘bout you?” she asked him. Her words were empty and meaningless. Though they fell from her lips her voice was not hers, it was distant and emotionless. He recognized this and she thought that maybe he would start to see thet light.

“Kathy kicked me out, says I sleep on the couch too much, and I spend too much time with you,” Elliot said. Olivia hid her satisfaction, instead she looked sypathitic.

“Not that again,” Olivia said. Even Munch, the man who loved rumors, was tired of that one. It was a known fact, and nothing to be upset over.

You don't know me and you don't even care, oh yeah
Well you said...
You don't know me and you don't wear my chains, oh yeah

Elliot had pulled up a chair and was sitting next to her. He locked eyes with her and for a moment she couldn’t speak, and she didn’t have to.

“I think I was wrong,” Elliot said. His voice was low and he didn’t offer anything further, he just waited. He was watching her, she was trying to calm herself. About what? She wanted to scream. She just waited for him to finish. She needed to hear what he had to say.

“I should have just ended it, wasn’t worth the second heartbreak,” Elliot said. She nodded. Now he was done. He nothing else to say, but she needed him to say more. To apologize and to beg for forgiveness, but even then he didn’t recognize it.

She said I think I'll go to Boston
I think I'll start a new life,
I think I'll start it over, where no one knows my name,
I'll get out of California, I'm tired of the weather,
I think I'll get a lover and fly em' out to Spain

“El, you were more than wrong. You were selfish,” Olivia said. Her words snapped him out of his thoughts and he looked at her, his face was a mix of confusion and anger.

“I thought that maybe...maybe you loved me. You sure as hell acted like it! I understand she is the mother of your children, but did you have to do that?” Olivia said. She stood up and turned her back to him, not wanting him to see the tears rolling down her cheeks. Elliot sat for a moment, stunned, and then finally stood up. He reached for her then let his hand sit on her shoulder.

“I know, Liv, I was an ass,” Elliot said. She sighed angrily and kept her back to him.

I think I'll go to Boston,
I think that I'm just tired,
I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind
I think I need a sunrise, I'm tired of the sunset,
I hear it's nice in the Summer, some snow would be nice

“I love you, El, and you...you ignored me,” Olivia said. She choked on the words but finally forced them out. Her shoulders were hunched and she knew that the tears were about begin, the heavy ones that she couldn’t stop. Olivia caved in and didn’t both to stop the tears, she cried and he watched.

Elliot hesitantly stepped toward her and tried to turn her around but she smacked his hand away. Elliot sighed and then wrapped his arms around her waist and buried his nose in her shoulder. He kissed the warm skin a few times, hoping to make it better, but the tears seemed to have no end. Her cries made it hard for her to hear what he was saying, but finally the words broke through.

“I love you, Liv.” Elliot kept saying over and over again. She finally turned around and buried her head in his chest, still ashamed of her tears.

Olivia’s tears finally ceased and she looked up at him, then smiled weakly and wrapped her arms around his neck. After a moment he realized what she wanted and his eyes darted to her lips, before he leaned in and kissed her, taking her breath away.

Olivia clung tightly to Elliot and deepened the kiss as much as she could. Her body was pressed against his and she wanted to stay like that forever. His lips were soft and tasted sweet, she would never tire of the taste. When they finally pulled apart he leaned his forehead on hers and smiled down at her.

“Better?” he whispered. She nodded and then buried her head in his chest again.

In boston, where no one knows my name
Where no one knows my name
Where no one knows my name
In boston, where no one knows my name
