Yep, here we have your average, run-of-the-mill Organization resurrection fic, SaixxKairi flavored with swirls of RoxasxAxel and DemyxxZexion. Riku and Sora are not protrayed very favorably here, so watch out.
Okay, I lied. There's nothing average about this fic, and that is probably going to be a big problem for a lot ot people. I warn you now, if you don't like fluff, SaixxKairi, resurrected!Organization XIII, or unusual plots and pairings, turn back now. If you flame me, I WILL flame you back. You've been warned. Anyway, if you actually want to read this now, I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it:D
Note: "A Nobody's main characteristic is that without a heart they use memories to form the parts of a personality and emotions." -Another Report, Secret Director's Report IV. Yes, it's been stated by Nomura-sama himself that Nobodies have emotions!
When he awoke, he had no idea how or why or if he still existed, but he knew he had somehow returned from the nothingness of obliterateration by the Keyblade. Saix sat up in his bed and stared blankly at the wall. How was he in the Castle that Never Was again, and in his own bedroom, no less? He had to find the Superior. He needed answers.
"So kind of you to join us, Saix. Did you have a nice nap?" the Superior said flatly. Apparently, he was late to a meeting already.
"My apologies, Sir," he said, teleporting to his throne.
"Ahem.." Xemnas began. "Now that we are all here, and if you look around, you will see that I literally mean all of us, I shall explain to the best of my ability what has transpired. The obvious is that we were all defeated, yet we are here. I do not know how this has occured, nor do I know how Roxas and Namine have become separated from their Others. Myself and Numbers II through VI, the original members, shall be conducting scientific research into the matter. The rest of you are to relax, reorient yourselves with the castle's structure, and please not fight. Yes, fighting... Obviously, fighting is not the answer to our quandary, thus, as well as investigating our existences, we shall be testing new and peaceful ways to regain out hearts through science. I suggest you all keep low profiles until I can gather more information, and if any of you come in contact with the Keyblade master and his friends, I want you to disengage them and leave the scene. You are all dismissed until further notice. Thank you."
Saix's mind was spinning. He couldn't think at all; he just walked back to his room and climbed back into bed as if driven by mere force of habit, simply because his legs knew the way and nothing more. Rolling over to face the wall, the next thing that came to him, the second thought he'd had since he'd returned to this Twilight existence, was her face. Why now, of all times? What was so important about her that she would come to him at a moment like this? Kairi and he had only met when he had kidnapped her to use as bait for the Keyblade Master, so why could he think of nothing but her? He closed his eyes and saw her, sitting in her cage and looking forlorn, pining away for her knight to rescue her, trying to think of any way to escape. He saw Namine and her running toward him, stopping dead in their tracks when they noticed him. Her hair shined so beautifully in the blinding whiteness of the castle. He opened his eyes again, and still, it was like her image was stuck in his mind. He wanted to go back to her cell and see if by some miracle, she might be there waiting for him.
"When did I fall in love with a princess of heart?" Saix whispered slowly, as if he barely believed his own words. Even if he did love her, she would never love him back, right? He was a Nobody, a being of darkness without a heart, the exact antithesis of a Princess of Heart. Her heart possesed no darkness; his darkness possessed no heart. He had kidnapped her and held her hostage and treated her so coldly. If times had been different, if not for Xemnas's plan to use the Keyblade Master, he would have been acted much differently toward her. Even the short time they knew each other, she made him feel peaceful; her eyes calmed his soul. He wanted to give her feelings like his in return, to comfort her and make her feel loved, but he had no choice other than to treat her as a mere lure for Sora. Looking back, he knew that even then, he loved her. He had hoped that Sora would never come for her, that she could stay with him forever, be his princess when Kingdom Hearts granted them their wish, but nothing had turned out the way any of them had planned. Now, she probably hated him, if she thought highly enough of him to even remember him, that is. Perhaps she despised him; perhaps she had no recollection of him at all. He wanted to ascertain her feelings toward him, but Xemnas had warned them to keep their presences unknown. Still, he just had to see her, just one more time.
So, once out of bed again, he opened a dark portal to the Destiny Islands, right in front of her house to be specific. It seemed as if everyone was asleep. He inspected the house for any activity, just in case, and when he had sufficiently convinced himself that no one was awake, he opened another portal to her room. Looking around, he smiled to himself, thinking that it was a fitting room for a Princess of Heart. Everything was so elegant, yet looked so comfortable. It was Kairi's palace. Once he had had his fill of the scenery, he wanted to see the main attraction. He quietly crept over to her luxurious canopy bed and parted the curtains cautiously. There she was, illuminated by the moonlight that flowed from the open window on the other side of her bed. She was even more beautiful than he remembered. She looked heavenly, angelic in that moonlight, and if any doubt remained in Saix's mind that he loved her, it was surely erased now. Xemnas could deny it all he wanted; Saix knew the truth. Nobodies could feel emotions, even love. He knew that the warmth that swelled in his chest every time he thought of Kairi was real. Heart or no heart, what he felt for his princess of light was real.
"I... I love you," he whispered as he reached down and ever-so-gently stroked her sparkling, moonlit hair. She stirred a bit, and he froze, but rather that waking up, she just snuggled against his hand in her sleep. He watched her intently, eventually gathering the courage to kneel down at her bedside and drape himself over her shoulders, holding her softly and continuing to stroke her hair. She smiled in her sleep, and he smiled back, feeling so warm and content, moreso then he even had when he was human. This must be part of what makes a Princess of Heart so special, he thought. She can cause those of us who lack them to feel as if we do. He held her a bit tighter. Even though he was still kneeling on the floor and only half on her bed with her, he never wanted to let go. However, if he stayed any longer, he might wake her, and he was exhausted himself from whatever had caused them to return to existence.
"I'll see you again, my sweet princess. I promise you that." He stood up and leaned down to give her a faint trace of a kiss on the cheek, then teleported back to his room. Not a minute passed before he was once again back in his bed and fast asleep.
