Someone cares

I feel the gentle rain cascade on and around me as I stare at the ground. I don’t care if I get wet. No one cares if I get sick. No one cares about me at all. Tears start to form as I try to wipe them away before they fall. I then feel warmth around me and I look up and it is you. I try harder to wipe away my tears faster so you won’t see me cry. But all you do is hold me close and shield me from the rain. I can’t help, but to smile as you kiss the top of my head. I don’t know how you do it. I don’t know how you can care for someone like me.
