First Kiss
Author's Note: This happens right during the reception of Chris' mom and Johnny's grandpa's wedding. This is my first time writing a fanfic for Johnny Kapahala; so don't expect me to get everything right, and it's just a one-shot little ficlet.

"Am I interrupting something?" he heard behind him, and he didn't have to look at whom the voice belonged to because the fact that he felt as if he would lose his lunch at any second was a big enough clue. He turned his head and tried to keep his expression as neutral as possible, though he was fairly certain he'd managed to make himself look more like someone who'd just sucked on a lemon than the mirror of composure he was aiming for.
"No just enjoying the beach before I have to go back, you know to Vermont," he said, trying to be as laid back as possible so she wouldn't notice the nervousness in his voice. Way to go, I might as well just stutter.
"Oh…" she replied and if it had been physically possible to do so, Johnny would have kicked his own ass if he'd known what he was about to say.
"Yeah…" he whispered under his breath though there was no doubt that she'd heard him. So this was the way he was going to die—it could have been by crashing while snowboarding in Vermont or biting the big one at pipeline or even going into a coma because of dirtboarding no it would be at the hands of the girl he'd recently realized he was completely crazy for. He turned defiantly to face her, his breath catching in his throat when he saw her cheeks redden and her jaw clench; it was cliché, but he couldn't help but notice how cute she was in the moonlight. Taking his attention away from her eyes and cheeks, and her adorable nose, he tried to focus on what she was saying.
"I was thinking maybe I could go visit you during Christmas, you to Vermont," she said, obviously knowing where he lived from the beginning. Johnny was surprised, Val come and spend Christmas with me? She had some guts to ask that, and no matter how adorable she looked with strands of hair falling into her face, and the way she was biting down on her bottom lip, or focus! You're supposed to answer, not drool all over her!
"Are you serious?! Uh… sure I mean if you really want to," he said trying to remain calm and cool as possible, even if he already yelled at her in his excitement. Way to keep it cool J.
"Yeah, it's been a long time since I've seen snow." Johnny was suddenly very thankful that he and her were alone, as his voice was beginning to sound high-pitched.
"Really, wow well your gonna love it over there and I can teach you how to snowboard," Johnny replied.
"Well I guess that's good collateral since you forgot to give me a surf lesson." Val was saying, but Johnny was too mesmerized by the movement of her lips and how he could see the very tip of her tongue protruding from her mouth as she formed the words that were no doubt meant to humble him. He caught bits and pieces of what she ways saying, and heard his name spoken. "Learning how to surf by the great Johnny Tsunami's grandson, could have been—" but he couldn't help not look at her so he did the only thing he could think of.
Suddenly he forgot about being nervous or feeling week in the knees, and just focused on how desperately he wanted to stop her from talking. Before she could finish his sentence he'd bent down and pressed his lips against hr own. For a moment he thought that she would pull-away and put him in a full body bind, or worst laugh in his face, but after a few dreadful seconds—dreadful, and extraordinary at the same time—he felt her lips move under his own and felt that telltale blush creep up his cheeks. He broke-away afterwards, not knowing what to say, or do; he hadn't really meant to kiss her; sure, it was what he'd been wanting to do ever since he met her, but at the same time he really didn't expect himself to go through with it. He could just feel his ears glowing, and Val's eyes were as wide as saucers.
"Right, well uh…" he spoke, clearing his throat when he heard himself sounding like a frog, "we should probably get back to the party, before Chris comes looking for us." He said, changing the subject to the party-the party was always a safe topic; you couldn't go wrong with party. Val looked mortified, though the blush that no resided in her cheeks didn't seem to be from anger, and she nodded. Johnny suspected that had she been able to speak—the kiss had most likely startled her so much, she'd lost her voice. This would definitely build a memory that would remain embedded in his thoughts for a very long time.
