They stared at it in utter shock and horror. It was huge, it was ugly, and it was settled right in the middle of Kairi's kitchen table.
"I don't want to touch it," Sora said, making a dramatic, exaggerated pose.
Riku chuckled. "I wonder if it could eat someone," he whispered into Sora's ear in a deep, eerie voice. "I bet it likes the taste of Keyblade Master."
Sora shivered. "Cut it out, Riku!" He smacked his boyfriend lightly, giving him a deathglare.
"I've never seen so many pages in my life," Kairi groaned. Okay, so it was just a summer assignment, and it wasn't that horrible, but they still didn't want to do it. To their credit, it WAS easily a hundred pages long, thanks to the evil teacher who had assigned it. 50 pages of it made up a story about who-knows-or-cares-what, and the other 50 were various essay prompts, question sheets, and project ideas about it. So, it couldn't eat Sora, much as it might have looked like it could, but it was still terribly objectionable.
"Well... I say one of us reads the story out loud while the other two fill out those question sheets," Riku drawled, his arm around a now-fuming Sora.
"I'll read it!" Sora and Kairi called simultaneously. They tpaused, then glare at each other, going back and forth with various shouts of "I'll do it!" and "No, me!" and the like. Riku chuckled again.
"Honestly, you two fight like siblings. I'LL read it. I'm the oldest."
"What kind of logic is that?" This time, it was Kairi's turn to give Riku a deathglare.
"Riku-logic, my dearest Kairi. Now, why don't you two settle down with your pens and the questions while I read you a nice story?"
Sora leaned his head on Riku's shoulder and nuzzled against his neck softly. "Rikuuu... I don't want to..."
Riku gasped. "Mm... Sora, don't do that... That's cheating!" he said. Kairi giggled at the two. Now THEY fought like an old, married couple.
"I never said I played fair!"
"Hey, I have an idea!" Kairi interjected. "How about we forget the assignment until the last week of vacation like we always do and go catch a movie? Maybe Selphie, Wakka, and Tidus can come with us."
"Now that is the best idea I'veheard all day," Riku said with a grin. So, they went off to find their friends, and the papers went neglected until the last week, but that wasn't a problem. It turned out that the teacher had gotten fired, anyway.
