This is my first shot at a Witch Hunter Robin story. I just recently got into it. And if anything seems out of place or out of character, please please PLEASE let me know so I can fix it. I do not own WHR or any of the characters. If I did, then I would have known if i did make any mistakes.
Michael opened the door to the office, a bag in one hand and his earbuds in his ears blaring out loud rock music. Michael walked in and sat down at his chair after shutting the office door. Michael yawned and sat at his computer, turning it on. The sound of another door opening was drowned out by the loud music as Michael input his password and began running his usual tasks on the computer. Michael heard a soft voice over his music and he turned to see Robin standing beside him. Michael smiled and pulled out his earbuds.
"Hey, Robin, morning!" Robin nodded, smiling slightly.
"Did you get enough sleep last night, Michael?" Michael shrugged and turned back to his computer.
"Sorta. But I had one heck of a headache last night..." Robin walked past Michael's desk and over to the coffee machine.
"Do you want some coffee, Michael-san?" Michael smiled and nodded.
"Sure. Thanks, Robin." Michael's phone rang.
"Hm..." Michael pulled his ear piece out of his pocket and posistioned it over his ear.
"Michael, here."
"Yeah, Michael?"
"Oh, hey, Doujima."
"Look, I won't be able to make it in today. Sorry..."
"You do know that Amon won't be too happy about that."
"I know, but still." Michael nodded and sighed.
"Alright, Doujima. Get better quick, you hear?"
"Yeah..." Robin could hear Doujima coughing over her headset.
"Geez...get some rest, 'kay?"
"Ok..." Michael pressed the button on his earpiece to hang up.
"So...Doujima's sick?"
"Seems that way. Then again, she's probably blowing off work today. That's probably it." Robin sighed and poured a cup of coffee for Michael.
"So, has anybody else come in yet?"
"Amon came in earlier to make sure everything was ok." Michael said, shrugging. Robin gave Michael his coffee.
"Ah, thanks, Robin." Robin smiled and went to her terminal.
Miho walked in about fifteen minutes after Robin did, dressed in a pair of dress pants and a short-sleeved blouse. Sakaki walked in soon after.
"It's hot out here."
"You think none of us have figured that out, Ms. Karasuma?" said Sakaki, leaning back in his seat and placing his arms behind his head.
"Oh, and Doujima called in sick." said Michael, doing some more typing. Miho sighed.
"I'll bet you she's faking it." Robin turned arond in her chair.
"Morning, Miho." Miho smiled.
"Morning Robin. So, what've we got going on today?" Michael sighed and pressed a key on his keyboard.
"Nothing so far. We usually get at least one hunt, but no...we haven't gotten anything!" he said, finishing off the rest of his coffee.
"Maybe the witches think it's to hot to go cause trouble?" said Sakaki, 'Heh-hehing' after his smartalec remark.
"Watch it mister." said Miho, pouring herself a cup of coffee. Sakaki mimed shaking while Kurasuma growled at him. Robin looked fondly at Michael. The two hadn't had a very smooth start, Michael prefering to avoid Robin. But the more they worked together, the more they began to strengthen their bond that they had now.
Michael sighed and slipped his earbuds into place again. The door opened.
"Hey, morning, Mr. Amon." Robin turned to face the door. Amon stood in the doorway, hands in his coat pockets, eyes tired-looking and dark. Robin cocked her head to one side.
"Anything yet, Michael?"
"No, nothing. I'm actually suprised." Michael said, leaning back in his chair and pulling out his earbuds again.
"Hm." Amon looked around and sighed.
"Ok...where is Doujima?" Michael sighed.
"She called in sick. Sounded like she had a 'cold'. Of course, she was probably faking it, but hey, that's less pay for her, ain't it?" Amon sighed.
"I'll be out. I'll call in if anything comes in."
"Ok. Be careful out there. There's bound to be something wrong soon." Amon turned and left. Robin sighed.
"There is something on his mind. I can tell." Michael, Sakaki, and Karasuma turned to look at Robin.
"What do you think it is?" asked Sakaki. Robin shrugged.
"I don't know..." Michael watched Robin for a moment. Her green eyes had grown slightly teary. 'What is she thinking...? Could she...nah, that wouldn't work out. She's only fifteen after all.' thought Michael. Michael sighed and turned to his terminal. 'Then again...neither would it work out between us...' Karasuma watched the interaction between Robin and Michael and smiled.
It was an hour after work was supposed to end, and Michael and Robin were still there, tidying up and putting away files they had to dig out nearly five hours ago. Robin snuck glances at Michael, who was currently activating the overnight security system. 'What do I do...? What do I tell him?' she thought, putting a stack of files back into a cabinet. Michael finally managed to get a rather stubborn section of the security system up and running and shut down his terminal.
"Well...Hey Robin, can I ask you something?" Robin turned to face Michael, a stack of files in her hand and another stack held against her chest.
"Yes?"
"Uh...I was sort of wondering if you wanted to grab some dinner or something, seeing as both of us haven't had anything yet." Robin cocked her head to one side and turned to put the files away, and also to hide the furious storm of red that was spreading across her face.
"I...Sure...Where do you want to go?" Michael started to think.
"Hmm...Wanna just hit the diner?" Robin blinked, and then slowly nodded.
"O...Ok." Michael gave her a smile and pulled on his coat.
"Cool. I guess we'll just go then...?" Robin nodded and put the last of the files away and closed the cabinet. Both teenagers walked out and Michael locked the door behind them.
Both of the STN-J employees sat at a booth near the window, Robin munching on a stick of pocky that she had gotten from a small pack she had bought at a vending machine on their way over. Michael was sipping a cup of tea, gazing thoughtfully at the blonde girl sitting before her.
"Hey, Robin? Why do you always wear your hir like that?" Robin stopped munching and swallowed what she was chewing.
"I dunno...I just like it this way, I guess..." Michael smiled, narrowing his eyes.
"You look cute that way. I don't know why you don't have guys fighting for your attention all the time..."
"Uh...!" Robin stared at Michael, mouth slightly open, teeth clenched, and a wide-eyed look upon her face. She had also started to blush furiously. Michael chuckled and sipped his drink again, gaving at his coworker through his glasses. Robin could feel her gut tighten as he gazed at her. 'This feeling...Why do I feel this way around him, now? Why?' she asked herself in her mind, resuming her munching of her half-finished pocky. Michael could tell that he had embarrassed her slightly. 'Never known a guy's comment, eh?' he thought.
As the two coworkers walked back to RObin's apartment, Robin could feel an urge. For what, she didn't know. But the feeling that she was missing something in her life greatly increased as she had dinner that night. Michael, like RObin, was thinking the same thing. But, unlike his young coworker, knew what he was being urged to do.
"This is it..." said Robin, turning to face her apartment building. Michael stopped and stood beside her.
"Yeah..." Michael cleared his throat. 'I can't help it...I have to ask her...' Michael turned to look at Robin. She was staring back at him, green eyes bright.
"Uh..." Robin cocked her head to one side.
"Yes?" Michael scratched the back of his head.
"Do you...well...Do you-" Robin put a small hand to his mouth, silencing him. RObin looked at him.
"Michael-san...Please...understand what I am about to say..." Michael blinked a few times and took her hand, pulling it away from his mouth.
But he didn't let go.
Robin looked from Michael to her hand.
"What was it that you were about to say?" Robin looked into Michael's eyes.
"Michael-san...I...I lo..." Robin couldn't say the words. They were not something she had said before in her life. Michael, however, understood very well what she was trying to say, and his eyes grew wide.
"Robin..." Robin narrowed her eyes a little.
"I love you..." Michael couldn't quite find his breath. This gave Robin the oppurtunity to use Michael's shoulders and leverage, push herself up, and kiss him gently on the lips, to which Michael simply closed his eyes and kissed back. 'All this time...the way we were behaving towrd each other all this time...when we talked...when we worked together...I felt the same thing you were feeling...' thought Michael. Robin let herself seperate from him, Leaving Michael to just stare down at her.
"Michael-san? Are you ok?" Robin waved a hand in front of Michael's face and then put a finger to her chin in thought.
"Hm." Michael regained his state of mind and blinked, catching his breath at last. Robin was completely taken by suprise when Michael drew her into an embrace and kissed her. Robin closed her eyes and kissed back, time seeming to stop as she did so.
I hope I did well on this. I just recently got into Witch Hunter Robin, and only have volumes 3 and 4 of the show. Please tell me if I made any mistakes, and R & R, please!
