#84: He 100 Writing Prompts Challenge

This story was for a challenge that I am doing and I thought that this would make a nice story.

It is set just before Billy gets on the bus to go to The Royal Ballet School.

“Billy!” shouted Michael, as Billy ran down towards the bus.

“Michael?” shouted Billy back, turning around and standing still halfway down the road. Michael ran towards him until he was standing right in front of him. Jackie and Tony Elliot had walked over to where Billy and Michael were standing.

“Come on, Billy, you’ll miss the bus,” said his father.

“This will only take a second Mr Elliot, promise,” said Michael. He turned back to Billy. “Do you have to go Billy?”

“What sort of question is that?” asked Tony. “O’ course he’s gotta go. Do you have any idea what we had to do to get the money for this?”

“Sorry,” said Michael, bowing his head and looking at his feet. “I’ll miss you, Billy.”

“I’ll miss you too, but I have to go.”

“Come on, son,” said Jackie Elliot. “You’re going to miss the bus.”

“I’m almost done, Dad, you go and I’ll catch you up.”

“Alright, Billy. But if you miss this bus...”

“I’ll be there in 2 minutes,” said Billy. Jackie and Tony walked towards the bus.

“I...I love you, Billy,” said Michael.

“What?”

“You heard me.”

“What are you on about, Michael?” asked Billy.

“Please, just promise you’ll come back and visit,” said Michael.

“Now I don’t want to go...”

“Go on, Billy,” said Michael. “You’ll miss the bus.”

“But, Michael, I really don’t want to go,” said Billy.

“You were all excited about it a minute ago, what changed your mind?”

“You...” said Billy. “Michael, I love you too.”

Michael had a puzzled look on his face, “What?”

“You heard,” said Billy. They looked into each other’s eyes and then Michael leaned in and kissed Billy. Billy returned his kiss.

“What the fuck are they up to?” said Tony, to his father.

“What?” replied Jackie, turning around to look at Billy and Michael. “Christ.”

“Billy!” yelled Tony.

Billy broke off from the kiss and turned around to look at his brother. “Yes,”

“What were you deeyun?”

“Nothin’, I were just sayin’ goodbye, that’s all.”

“Well, hurry up you little poof!”

“Shut up!” said Billy, turning to Michael. “Well, see you.”

“See you, Billy,” said Michael, turning away and walking to his house. Billy turned around and ran towards his family.

“Eventually,” said Tony, putting Billy’s bags onto the bus. Billy gave his dad a huge hug, and Tony. And then he said his goodbyes and got onto the bus.
