Summary: SongFic. Harry listens to one of John Lennon’s songs from the radio. The lyrics catch Harry’s mind and wonders if the Doctor ever stops to think about it.

Harry sat back on his double bed and tuned the radio on for the classical station. His ears were attracted by the sound of a soft piano playing beautifully. He slipped off his shoes and socks and then his blue jacket. Harry placed them all down on the ground and snuggled himself down further on his bed. The lyrics of the song began with a political message.

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

What would the world be like it if none of this ever existed? Harry thought to himself. I seen terrible and indescribable things in my life, and I mean about the time I was travelling with the Doctor. I’ve seen chaos and destruction like nobody else has. The endless and pointless violence still rages on and on until everyone dies and for what... absolutely nothing.

Did the Doctor ever stop to think about it? Did he ever think what it would be like if there was no violence, hell, religion or dying and then living forever? Of course he did. He wishes there was no war or hate growing in this world. Then again, he did before that ‘enemies wouldn’t become allies without the Daleks’. They were the biggest hate living and we’re not prepared to save ourselves.

What if the Doctor had never travelled through time and space and become a fugitive of his own race? He wouldn’t have to go through the pain and hurt he seen… he wouldn’t have to regenerate so quickly. He told me stories of his home planet after the whole Cybermen attack. Maybe it was the reason why he left Gallifrey in the first place. All those politics bantering on about rubbish and not raising one hand to help those who need it.

Gallifreyan politics are not much different from ours, but at least they’re more peaceful species.

In the end, all this will never happen. Because when there is love, there will always be hate. When there is friendship, there will always be a foe. The universe wouldn’t be balanced without the opposite of something. There would be no point of it all. There would be no point in life. It’s the reason why I became a Doctor in the first place, and a sailor. I mend and help people who need me the most and I’ll fight for freedom.

Of course we can all be dreamers and think about a better place, it’s what makes us human.
