Saying Sorry by Hawthorne Heights

‘These colors will not change,
you change the way I see them.
These words will fade.
Can you explain,
why you hate them?
We are the same.’

Edward Elric looked away. Blood pouring down Jessie Elric’s wrist caused him to flinch. Holding her in his arms.
“It’s so red. I hate it.” she said softly.
“Why?”
“I don’t know.”

‘She keeps repeating
that she’s leaving
She says she right here.
She seems so distant.’

“Ed. I’ve got to go.” She’d said earlier. /In fact./ Ed thought. She’d been saying that a lot these days.
“Jess?”
“I’m right here Ed. Just getting something to drink.” Ed turned over in bed. /Then why are you so distant?/

‘Saying goodbye,
this time the same old story.
Seeing you cry,
makes me feel like saying sorry.
Just a few last sad words,
We gotta make them count.
We’re falling backwards.
Just a few last sad words.
We gotta make them count.
We’re falling forwards.’

Edward felt the kiss upon his lips. Tear drops sprinkled his face as he heard his wife murmur words he’d always heard.
“I’m sorry Ed. I’ll make this up to you. Trust me. No matter what it takes.” Ed wanted to reach out and hug her. Tell her that he was sorry. He watched as the door shut behind her. There was still time, he could catch her before she left. He felt as if he was plummeting backwards knowing not where he was going. And not if he’d return. She was gone. Disappeared without a trace. And forward Edward Elric fell into despair.

‘She keeps repeating,
that she’s leaving.
She says she’s right here.
She seems so distant.

Saying goodbye,
this time the same old story.
Seeing you cry,
makes me feel like saying sorry.
Saying goodbye,
this time the same old story.
Seeing you cry,
makes me feel like saying sorry.’

Edward waited on the doorstep. And knocked. He was sure this was it. This was where she was staying. The door opened and he looked down at a surpassed face.
“Ed?”
“I’m sorry Jess. I never should have said that stuff. Don’t ever leave me again.”

‘Saying sorry were falling apart.
wish knew this from the start.
Saying goodbye’s the hardest part.
Wish we knew this from the start.’

Jessie Elric cuddled baby Zachi happily. Ed watching her sadly realized she’d been becoming more distant each day. But he wouldn’t let that happen again. Goodbye was too hard to say again.

‘Saying goodbye,
this time the same old story.
Seeing you cry,
makes me feel like saying sorry.
Saying goodbye,
this time the same old story.
Seeing you cry,
makes me feel like saying sorry.’

Edward Elric awoke to an empty house. She was gone. Maybe for good this time. He picked up sleeping Zachi. ‘I’m so sorry Jess.”
