It was coming up for Téa’s birthday, and so the Yuugi-tachi decided to go to the mall, and get her some presents. Joey’s little sister Serenity agreed to keep Téa occupied, and so the two had gone to the cinema to catch a movie. Back in the mall, Ryou and Malik were telling Marik and Bakura to get something for Téa too. The group decided to split up into pairs, in order to cover more ground. Marik and Bakura ended up paired up, since no one else wanted to pair up with either of them. Malik went off with Ryou, while Yugi and Tristan headed another way. Joey headed to a catalogue shop with Yami in tow. Joey knew this store had good value for money, so it was the perfect option for him.
Yami and Joey stood at a catalogue each, searching through the jewellery. Perhaps there was something there, that wouldn’t be too girly for the tomboy. Yami located a promising page, and Joey checked the page number to open his catalogue there as well. Then, finding something, he gave Yami the code to check if it was in stock. “One available, display only.” Yami read from the screen. Joey went back to searching, looking disappointed. Yami experimentally entered two more codes. One saying one that one was available, and the other saying two. ‘Must be popular options.’ He mused.
A woman stood at a catalogue on Joey’s left, but they paid her no attention, until she received a phone call, and began shouting down the phone for all in the shop to hear. “She’s just being a little bitch, Brian!” The woman stated. Yami glanced over, thankful for Joey’s position, so the woman wouldn’t see him smirking. He turned back to the catalogue, trying to hide his smirk by looking down. Joey wasn’t much better, fighting down his snickering. “I’m the one arranging--” The woman began, but seemed to cut herself off. Yami wondered if she had been interrupted. “Caitlin is looking forward to coming up to see us.” Another pause, and Joey was becoming desperate. “You should have stuck to your guns, Brian!” The woman continued. Yami glanced around for a retreat, preferably BEFORE he and Joey cracked up. Several heads were turned in their direction. “She’s just being such a little cow!” The woman continued, oblivious.
Yami glanced around again, and spotted two spaces on the far end of the table, with two people between their current location and the next one. Yami grabbed Joey’s arm to get his attention and led the snickering blond past the two strangers, to the relative safety of the catalogues furthest from the woman. Yami allowed himself to snicker quietly, as he and Joey resumed their search for Téas birthday present. The woman continue ranting down the phone. Yami glanced left, past Joey, who was still laughing quietly, to see that they weren’t the only ones laughing at the woman’s expense. ‘Doesn’t she realise that everyone’s either looking or laughing at her?’ Yami wondered to himself.
Joey soon decided that escape was the best option, as he was about to crack up completely. The pair left the store hastily, and as soon as they rounded the corner outside it, Joey burst out laughing. He then began mimicking the woman, causing Yami to start laughing as well. They came across Bakura and Marik, who wanted to know what was so funny. So after Joey had relayed the story, Marik showed them what they had gotten for Téa. A squidgey ball with fake maggots and worms inside. “They said we have to get her something. They didn’t say what.” Marik stated, as Yami remarked it was something Weevil would appreciate, not Téa.
