Alienus

Nothing could be heard in the drab apartment building except the steady drip of water from overhead. And her own breathing. Unpacking her belongings from the large cardboard moving boxes, Kasumi glanced up above her. She saw some water stains on the ceiling, but no mould or leaking water.

Kasumi shrugged, clutching some film tapes in her arms, she made her way towards the shelving unit and dumped the tapes in. Two of them fell onto the floor. Grumbling, she knelt down to pick them back up. Quickly she replaced them on the shelves; ‘The Ring’ and ‘Dark Water’.

Kasumi grinned and jumped onto her computer chair, starting up the computer. Apparently her computer habits hadn’t changed during the move.

It was several hours later when Atsuko looked in on her daughter. She smiled at the endearing sight of the 16 year old fast asleep, sprawled across her bed, still dressed in her skirt and tee-shirt. Atsuko quietly crept into the room and leant down to stroke the side of Kasumi’s face gently. My beautiful daughter.

Atsuko slowly covered the 16 year old with a blanket and crept back out of the room.

Upstairs, in the dark apartment above, angry eyes glared behind a curtain of black hair and water dripped, droplets falling…
