Vergil. He mused. He sat at his desk, however, his feet weren’t in their usual place, propped up on the table. Instead, he just sat in his tall, commanding leather chair, his leg crossed over the other, his elbow on the armrest, hand holding up his face. His other hand rubbing the amulet around his neck. Vergil. How Long? He though, how long has it been? How long since I killed you? At those words, a single tear trailed down his cheek, more threatening to follow.

“Dante?” His eyes snapped open.

“Trish! I didn’t hear you come in.” He hastily wipes at his eyes in a vain attempt to cover his tears. Trish simply dismissed this action, allowing him to keep whatever dignity he felt he had left.

“Dante, you’ve been really depressed lately.” He scoffs. She continues, “Why don’t you take a vacation somewhere?” He laughs.

“A vacation? Come on Trish, where am I supposed to go?”

She simply looks at him and shrugs. “Anywhere but here.”

Dante waves off the thought. There’s no place I could go, where my guilt wouldn’t be. Deep in his heart, Dante knew he would do it all over again, if it meant saving humanity. That’s what killed him the most. Killing his brother again, for humans. A vacation… Maybe it would do me good. Dante stood, wearing a semi-grin on his face. He peeked his head into the kitchen, looking at Trish. “Hey, Trish, I’m going on vacation. You won’t mind taking all the jobs on, yourself, will ya?”

“No. I don’t mind. Dante finally listened to something I said! Trish now believed in miracles. “Where will you be going?”

Dante smiled. “Home.”
