Hello, readers! My friend SpeakerofSilence and I (and I guess Raiden counts, too), FINALLY decided to write a fic together! So, this is it! I go to her house a lot, so... this should be updated frequently! However, we BOTH have other fics that need to be updated-

Silence: Or in your case, need a prologue.

Xiao: T.T I'm sorry! I'm trying! Anyway, we usually do crossovers, but we couldn't agree on one. SO we just did a straight SM one!

Summary: The days of love, betrayl, deceptions, lies, friendships, and heartbreaks. Where bonds are made and paths are chosen. When people chose where they are headed and make the choices that make them or break them. This is High School.

Main Characters... Inners! However, since Rei/Sailor Mars is our favorite, this will mostly be around her. BUT, before you hit the back button, all of the inners play an important role and we will try not to let her hog most of the chapters. So, it is pretty well balanced.

And it is SenshiShittenou, so I guess here are the 'up-to-date' names for them.

Jadeite- Jason

Nephlite- Nigel

Zoisite- Ok, we couldn't decide on a 'Z' name, so we named him... Scott!

Kunzite- Kyle

DISCLAIMER: None of us (Silence, Raiden, or Xiao) own the characters. We are just borrowing them.

Sweet Sixteen

Chapter One

High school. How Rei loathed the two words. According to her it was just another stain on her already crappy existence. It wasn’t so much the work and the learning that bugged her, it was the people. Each of them seemed so absorbed in their need for popularity and money that it made the bile in her stomach churn.

As she pulled on her denim jeans, her favorite pair with an assortment of holes, she glanced towards the other bed in her room. In its binds held her eight year old sister, Hotaru. She wouldn’t start third grade until next week, so she would be left to fend for herself.

As she put on her red t-shirt she looked at herself in the vanity mirror, her face yet to be adorned with eyeliner. Rei Hino had a different look, one more exotic than those of her classmates. Her long, black hair and striking amethyst eyes always made people curious. The clothes she wore always tended to hide her slim figure; however she only reached the height of five feet and one inch.

Before she walked out of the room she grabbed her car keys and black shoulder bag, slinging the latter over her as she made her way to the front door.

“Rei,” She heard her mother call from the kitchen. “Are you leaving?”

Hearing her mother’s voice pained her, the woman sounding as if she barely had the strength to speak. Three months ago she was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and the chemo seemed to keep her sick. Funny thing was, Rei found out on her sixteenth birthday.

“Yes, I am. Did you need anything from the store on my way back home?”

There was a pause, only to be followed by a rough cough. “Some milk would be nice. Your dad told me before he went to work this morning to tell you good luck on your first day.”

Rei rolled her eyes at this comment. Her dad had wished her good luck on the first day of each school year, and it appeared that even though she was now a junior in high school, this still hadn’t changed.

“Alright.” She was about to walk out, but her mother called out one last thing, the thing she had always told her before her first day of school right after her dads spill.

“Try to make some friends today. I want you to be happy.”

“I’ll try.” Rei shut the door upon those words, walking down the driveway. In truth, she didn’t have many friends. But, that was how she liked it. She liked the peace and quiet of her solitary life. “But, it is unlikely.”

Upon entering the Pauline G. Harwell High School parking lot and finding parking space 327, the fiery girl parked her car and slung her head back on the seat, closing her eyes and taking a few breaths.

“Ok, I can survive… I can make it through the entire day without killing someone…”

Of course, around that time, someone happened to bang on her passenger side window, knocking the poor truck to one side for a moment, the driver's side wheels lifting off the ground.

“DAMN IT!” Rei snapped as she turned her head to see her two best and only friends, Usagi Tsukino and her boyfriend Mamoru Chiba.

Reaching over to grab her bag before her exit, she slammed the door behind her, making the old truck groan in despair. Rei’s vehicle had been through many things, and it appeared as if it wasn’t going to get a break.

“Rei! It is so good to see you!” Usagi exclaimed as she pounced on top of the angry girl, fire still burning in her eyes. However, Rei’s anger could never last long in front of Usagi. The blonde had always been too happy for her own good. Rei and Mamoru even got in the habit of calling her ‘meatball head’ for fun, but ultimately only achieved in getting drowned in her tears. “How was your summer?”

“Eh,” Rei huffed as she shoved the babbling blonde off of her. As usual she had her hair styled in the two ‘meatballs’ and pigtails, the length reaching her ankles. She wore a pink sun dress and white flip flops, only a light amount of make up apparent. “It was ok. I have mostly been spending time with my mom.”

“How is she, by the way?” Asked the only male of the trio, Mamoru, as he held Usagi’s hand. They had been together since freshman year and became inseparable. Although, Rei wasn’t going to lie and say his dark hair and blue eyes weren’t attractive.

That brought her to another subject; boys. Rei had found out long ago that ninety percent of the male population at Harwell High School were only interested in three things; parties, football, and sex. None of which interested her. Usagi seemed to claim the only decent guy on campus in Rei’s point of view. Of course, Rei would never consider dating Mamoru since they were best friends, but deemed him the only appropriate and somewhat ok guy she had yet to face.

“She is doing ok. The chemo is rough on her.”

“I’ll bet.”

Digging in her pants pocket Rei revealed her cell phone, turning it on vibrate as they entered the Gates of Hell, also known as the double doors leading to the school cafeteria.

“I will text you both at lunch so we can find each other.”

“Ok!” Usagi exclaimed as Mamoru and herself followed Rei’s example. “Deal! Have fun Rei!”

As the two walked off Rei started towards the table with the sign posted ‘H-M’ taped on it. There were four tables in all, each one having a different sign on it. This was where students could pick up their schedules, and of course, the school system required this, along with everything else, to be in alphabetical order.

“Name?” The old, red haired woman asked as Rei approached, glasses perched on the bridge of her nose. Rei didn’t recognize this woman, so she assumed that she was new.

“Hino, Rei.”

After watching the old lady dig into the ‘H’ folder for what seemed like hours, she finally produced her paper.

“Thank you.”

After the black haired girl left she sat down at a vacant table, looking over her schedule.

Semester One Schedule

First Block: Chemistry A

Second Block: Algebra 2

Third: History Honors

Fourth: Literature Honors

Fifth: Art

Sixth: Business Computers Information Systems

“Ugh,” Rei blanched, the thought of having Chemistry and Algebra 2 making her nauseous. Each year the school would select your classes based on previous scores and behavioral remarks by previous teachers, so getting your schedule was like the lottery. Sometimes you scored high, others… not so much.

Her thoughts were soon interrupted by a bell, signaling that it was now eight twenty-five and you had five minutes to get your classroom. Picking up her schedule and book bag, Rei trudged through the mob of peers, her patience already wearing thin.

“Welcome to Chemistry.” Rei’s teacher halfheartedly greeted, her voice monotone and bland. “I paired you up with a lab partner based on your scores you achieved in the previous science last year. So, take this time to introduce yourself.”

The way the system worked wasn’t complicated, only somewhat insulting if you caught on. The teacher, whom Rei learned was called Mrs. Archer, had paired a student with high marks to a student with low marks. In Rei’s group, it wasn’t difficult to find out who the weaker link was.

“Hello, I am Minako Aino!” The peppy blonde greeted sticking out her hand for Rei to shake. Her hair was long and reached her thighs, a red ribbon pulling most of it out of her face. She wore a short, denim skirt and white baby tee, her outfit being completed by a pair of flip flops.

“Um, I’m Rei.”

“Cool! Are you good at science?” She chirped, perching herself on the stool and leaning on the lab table.

“No.”

“Me either! I am sure we will be great friends!”

“And fail.”

She shrugged, but continued to smile. “Oh well!”

The rest of the class was relatively boring, only Mrs. Archers rambling and Minako’s texting keeping her in reality. The clicking of the blonde’s cell phone buttons and her frequently asking how to spell things kept Rei occupied for most of the block.

“And when you are done with your test tubes, please place them in-” The bell rang, interrupting ‘miss monotone’ in her test tube rant. “Class dismissed.”

Thanking God and his gracious powers, Rei picked up her bag and stuck her hands in her jean pockets, moving on to complete the day.

As the lonely, black haired girl wondered down the hall, bumping into student’s bustling on by. Her stomach began to grumble, signaling that it was indeed time for lunch.

However, just moments before the school signaled the bell for lunch, the principal came on the intercom, telling everyone to meet in the auditorium. So, now a thousand upset students walked the halls with their hungry stomachs growling.

While searching for a suitable seat in the auditorium, that was somewhat secluded, Rei’s mind began to drift to the things she would have to do after school and the small amount of time she had to do it all in.

First and foremost would be to leave the hell hole and go get some milk from the local supermarket and her current workplace, Grocery’s Plus, for her mom. For some reason here lately her mom always craved it. Rei figured it had something to do with the chemo.

Second, she would change for work. Her work uniform was relatively simple; jeans, tennis shoes, and her burgundy work polo with ‘Grocery’s Plus’ embroidered on it. Rei always favored working the cash register, but usually got stuck stocking.

Finally finding the perfect seat, she sat down and began to fall asleep, the voice of a familiar acquaintance waking her up.

“Hello, students of Harwell High School! I am your student body president, Minako Aino!”

“Oh, God…” Rei murmured to herself as she watched her fellow classmate ramble idly on stage. Wait… the student body president is a junior?

“I know I’m not a senior, but I will do my best to get us everything we want!” She gave everyone a ‘V for victory’ sign and winked. “Besides, you all voted for me! It was unanimous!”

The rest of the day was pretty routine; go to one class and then to the next. Unfortunately, Usagi and Mamoru were in none of her classes, so it left her alone. She probably should have tried to make some friends, but making friends wasn’t exactly a strong point of hers.

Rei hummed a tune as she walked through the parking lot, her black, Converse kicking pebbles around. Her eyes were focused on her truck, the thing looking as if it had been through Hell and back. The tint was peeling off and the tail gate handle was broken, and to top it off, the driver side door wouldn’t unlock from the outside. So to get in the damn thing, you had to use the passenger side. She only had one word to describe it: Ghetto.

So many thoughts filled her mind; work, her mother, the Algebra 2 problems she had to have finished by tomorrow… the list was endless. All she wanted was to get her mom’s milk and go to work so the day could end.

Then diaster struck.

She was almost there, almost to her one way ticket home. That was then it happened.

It being the football flying through the air, hitting her square in the face.

“WHAT THE F-?!”

It was then that all Hell broke loose, and Rei Hino met him.

Xiao: So, whatcha think?? We are also trying to see what 'cliques' you all want to see the scouts and shittenou seperated into. If you want, you can tell us in a PM or review! Either is fine! We just want this to be entertaining. The plot is already figured out somewhat, but we just wanted some imput.

Silence: Till next time.
