Flinch

Hi! This is my first fic ever, so if there’s anything I can do to improve it, please tell me! Flames are anything but helpful. This started off as fluff, but I guess happy stories are just impossible to write for me --; It’s meant to be Sasusaku…

Disclaimer: I don’t own Naruto. If I did, Sasuke would fall in love with a girl who doesn’t like him back. Hah! Take that Sasuke!! (sorry for any Sasuke fans out there, I don’t hate him much, I just hate how all the fangirls go after him… )

Their eyes were locked in a fierce battle of will, sea green versus spinning sharingan. His feet brought him closer to her, almost unconsciously. She drew back in silent fear, but her eyes retained their stubborn glare. He reached out slowly, outstretched hand level with her chin. She backed up even further, her feet sliding more than stepping.

A soft breeze from the open window stirred her coral locks. He watched, fascinated by a thin, almost transparent strand of hair drifting around, separated from the rest. Reminding him of himself. Suddenly, she stopped, her back pressed against the wall.

Perfection.

Her slim figure was bathed in the moon’s silver glow. With the contours of her body softly highlighted, she radiated like an angel. The crimson splotches marring her perfect skin glowed eerily, while those on her cloths darkened almost to a black. She radiated like a fallen angel.

He continued forward, pretending to be oblivious to her fear. Finally, finally, his fingers grazed her smooth, alabaster skin, ever so lightly. She flinched, jerking back as if he had slapped her. Something deep within him blazed fiercely. Did she not want his touch? Years ago, she would have been ecstatic.

Ah, but she’s not a little girl anymore, a bitter voice reminded him in the back of his mind. She’s different now. Remember, she’s here to kill you. She despises you, just like everyone else. In her eyes, you are a traitor, a murderer…her target.

Slowly, he let his fingers follow her jaw line, then rested them on her cheek, just below a long cut made by his own kunai. It was still oozing blood. He watched as a scarlet drop detached itself from the wound. Gently, he slid the pad of his thumb over the drop, smearing it over her creamy skin. He could feel her tense beneath his touch, and yet again felt the fire inside him burn. It wasn’t a flinch, but it wasn’t too inviting either.

“Do you fear me, hate me?” he hissed, at last breaking the silence. His voice sliced through the stale air much harsher than he had intended. Yet again, she flinched, this time at his voice rather than his caress. “Do you?” he repeated again through gritted teeth.

Slowly, she parted her lips, pink and perfect. At first, she said nothing. Then, “You are not the man I knew and loved. You are so consumed by power, by hatred…”She broke the eye contact at last, and whispered the last part with such venom and conviction that he could barely recognize her voice anymore.

“I must kill you.”

In an instant, his lips were on hers, ravaging it’s softness with hunger and neediness. Even as he did so, he had felt her jump, flinch, when their lips had first touched. Then she proceeded to squirm uncomfortably, as if trying to escape from the clutches of a monster. Because that’s what she thinks I am, the raven-haired man thought, unsheathing his katana and capturing the moon’s luminescence on the blade that has claimed so many lives. Tonight, it will claim one more.

He watched her lying on the cold, hard floor, watched as she was drained of her liquid life. The ground was stained dark with it now. Crouching down, he forced her fading jade orbs to look into his own ebony ones.

Then he leaned over and captured her lips once more, this time making it slow and almost loving. And he smiled.

Because this time, she didn’t flinch.

OK, how was it? That’s about the darkest story I’ve ever written…but they’re about to get a whole lot darker…OO Again, suggestions for improvement would be helpful.
