Keep in mind that I have only seen Anko once so it might be a little OOC.

Chapter One: A mysterious figure

A woman slowly walked out of Konoha’s gates. She mumbled under her breath about one of the previous events.

I don’t care if he’s the hokage, why pick me?

She wondered as she looked back at the village.

[Flashback

“Yes?” A purple haired woman asked as she walked up to her village’s leader.

“Ah, it’s you Anko.” He sighed. “I see you have come for your mission.”

Anko shrugged.

“You see, this particular mission requires a Jounin of your status.” He told her, “The water village has requested assistance from the threat of an assassin that occasionally appears around the area. I need you to help dispose of this threat.”

Anko crossed her arms, “Who exactly am I looking for?”

The hokage closed his eyes, “They didn’t specify, but keep an eye out for a tall male, said to carry a large sword by his side.”

[End Flashback

Though she did remember why she was sent, she was in no hurry. As she headed off on a dirt road through the woods, she noticed a change in temperature. It was fairly a bright day, with a clear sky while she was in Konoha, but as she came closer to her destination, it was getting cooler. She even began to hear her feet crunching in snow. Then, as she rounded a small curve, someone attacked.

Anko dodged quickly to the left, just before a long chain slammed into one of the trees that were behind her. It tightly wrapped around the plant, scraping of chunks of bark from the trunk. As she regained her footing, she looked over toward the point of the attack.

Two chunin stood in front of her, each clothed in a black cloak. Anko examined them carefully.

Tall….Sword…

She ran the two expectations through her head. They didn’t seem to fit the description. Though they were probably the right height, each lacked a sword. Instead, they each had a large metal gauntlet, one having it one the right and the other on the left. The chain extended from the bottom of the gauntlet, stretching from one hand into the other.

Suddenly, the chain behind her started tighten its hold on the tree, constricting it, until the tree gave in and cracked in two. Anko jumped out of the way from the falling tree, and the two chunin ran for her. One on the left side of her, and the other coming in on the right, Anko immediately grabbed a kunai she had in her jacket pocket and shielded against the claws of the one on the left. Then, reaching for another kunai, she cut a wound into the assailant’s arm, but while she was occupied, the right one came in and lashed out at her. Anko immediately jumped back, trying to avoid getting struck, but ended up having a large gash on her arm.

“Dmn,” She remarked, holding the wounded point with her one hand, a kunai still in the other.

The assailant without the wounded arm came at her again and she blocked with the kunai. This time she examined the claws, poison. Anko glanced at her wound, the blood almost down to her wrist, making a small puddle in the snow. She knew she shouldn’t be fighting with the poison going through her veins.

That’s when she saw her chance and took it. As she shielded against him, snakes quickly shot out from the sleeves of her jacket, sinking their fangs into the assailant’s arm. He stepped back quickly, watching as the snakes retracted back into her jacket’s sleeves.

Anko was breathing harder; she could feel her wound throbbing in pain, the poison running through her veins with her sudden movements.

The two chunin looked at her in defeat, with each of their arms wounded; they knew that they shouldn’t continue. They looked at her once more with their unemotional expression before running of into the cold woods that lay behind them.

Anko, still holding her wounded arm, looked into the woods as they ran off. Frustrated, she pressed on toward a small snowy path through the forest, but soon her vision started to blur.

Dmnit, Anko thought to herself, just a little farther…..

She then collapsed under a tree, breathing heavily. As her vision started to fade off, she noticed a figure.

A tall male figure stood out in front of her, in the snow. She couldn’t see the face or many details at that, but as her eyes started to close, she could feel the warmth of a hand.
