A/n Sorry for taking so long to update…again. School is being a bitch and so aren’t my parents. But I’ve learned one useful thing. Don’t say that Napoleon was evil to the French Exchange student or he gets very mad, my friend Sam learned that the hard way. My other Inuyasha stories will be updated soon this one was first on my list to update.

Chapter 3 Shikon no Tsuki

“Y-you mean I’m that girl.”

Hikari simply nodded. She then turned her head to face the window again, “There have been many protectors throughout our history. There have been many jewels but the Shikon no Tsuki is a very special jewel. It has the power to turn back time and to grant the user one wish.” Hikari turned her head back to Akane, “About 300 hundred years ago the Shikon no Tsuki was first created. The jewel was created by a miko whose soul ascended from the heavens when she was killed and she became a celestial moon maiden. She also became the guardian of the moon.”

“But if she was a celestial then how did the jewel end up in my body?” asked Akane

“The Miko even though she was a celestial her heart became filled with sadness and resentment of being the jewels care taker for she fell in love with a demon and the gods became furious with that she let the jewel become defiled and they stripped her of her immortality and her soul disappeared along with the jewel. And now the jewel has found itself in you meaning you are now the jewels new protector. You are the new Miko of the Shikon Tsuki. You must keep you heart pure for the jewel can not become sullied because many demons will be after it once they know it is in existence once again.”

“But I can’t stay in this world. I have to go back to my home. My father will be worried about me. And I have school and exams!” exclaimed Akane

“Child if you mean the well that acts as a portal to your world I am not sure if it is still open. But you can not return to your world. You must stay in this world to protect the jewel.” Said Hikari in a monotone voice

“Please! I have to go back. My father can’t be alone. Ever since my mother died my father has not been the same and it’s getting close to…..close to…..”

“Close to what Akane?” asked Yuudai concerned

“It’s getting close to the anniversary of the day my mother died.” said Akane adverting her eyes away from Yuudai and back to Hikari, “Please just let me go back to my world for a few hours to get some things. I will come right back and do whatever you want. I just don’t want my father to worry.”

“Fine you may return through the well but Yuudai must go with you.”

“But I thought I was the only one who can go through the well.” said Akane

“That is true but if my suspicions of Yuudai are correct he will be able to pass through the well as well. So if you want to go then go child.”

“Oh thank you Hikari!” exclaimed Akane as she hugged Hikari and then turned to Yuudai, “Yuudai can you please accompany me to my world.”

“Yes of course I will accompany you to your world Lady Akane.” Said Yuudai bowing and then turning to leave the room

At this Akane slightly blushed but pushed it back and followed Yuudai out of the room.

They had reached the well. It hadn’t taken them to long but they had reached it. Akane took Yuudai’s hand and they both jumped into the well and were engulfed by a strange sapphire light.

When Akane opened her eyes again she looked up and saw a brown roof. She smiled and new she was home. She then looked at Yuudai who was sniffing the air.

“Why does the air smell so different from my time?” he asked

“Because my time has become more advanced.” Said Akane as she climbed out of the well

Yuudai followed suit and when Akane stepped out of the well house she stretched, “I hope dad didn’t get too worried.”

“AKANE!!!!!”

Akane looked up and saw her father come running over to her and pull her into his arms.

“Akane I’m so glad your home.”

“Dad how long have I been gone.”

“You’ve been gone the entire day. I had to call your school and lie that you were sick. What is this? What is a demon doing with you!!!!!!” yelled Katsumo as he pulled sutras out of his shirt and began to throw them at Yuudai but Akane stopped him.

“Father Stop! This is Yuudai he is a fox demon who saved me from the spider demon that dragged me down the well.”

“Fox demon you say well alright as long as he doesn’t doing anything foolish he may stay for the night. Akane your friends were worried about you. They said that they would come by to see you so I suggest you get inside.” Katsumo turned to Yuudai, “And you will where at hat and hide that tail of yours until they leave.” Katsumo then walked back into the house.

Yuudai looked at Akane very confused.

“Sorry about that. My father isn’t usually like that. Ever since my mom died he’s been a little over protective of me. Well I guess we better get in the house.” Explained Akane as she walked towards her house with Yuudai following behind

When they got into the house Yuudai became very curious and examined everything. When they entered the living room he became particularly curious of a photo that stood on one of the tables. It was of a beautiful woman with ling jade black hair, and bright blue eyes, she has pale creamy skin and is wearing a beautiful pink and blue kimono.

“That’s my mom.”

Yuudai looked up startled and saw Akane staring at the picture with a sad lonely look in her eyes.

“Akane you okay?” asked Yuudai noticing tears in her eyes

Before Akane could answer the doorbell rang and voices of 4 giddy teenage girls could be heard.

“Oh my friends are here!” said Akane running out of the living room and back towards the entrance of the house leaving Yuudai alone in the living room to stare at the picture of Akane’s mother.

A few minutes later Akane returned with four girls all wearing the same school uniform as hers. Akane looked for Yuudai and when she saw him he did not have his fox tail and demon ears had disappeared.

“Akane who is this? Is he the reason you didn’t come to school today!” asked her friend who had long blond hair.

“Um…well….”

“We can’t hear you Akane.” Said another with short black hair

“Rakka, Misha, will you two calm down and let poor Akane talk you’re obviously being a little pushy.” said a girl with long black hair that was up in a pony tail.

“Oh shut up Kaiya. So who is he, Akane?” asked a girl with brown hair that was up in a side pony tail.

“Calm down Hana, you guys please stop yelling.” said Akane, “This is Yuudai. He’s um a friend of my cousin Haku.”

“Haku?” questioned Rakka the girl with long blond hair, “Isn’t he the hotty that lives in Kyoto.”

“Yes, that is Haku. You met him during Golden Week last year remember. This is one of his friends who wanted to um…meet me.”

Rakka, Misha, and Hana began to circle Yuudai like vultures circling a carcass. They stopped after a few minutes and Misha spoke,

“He is a hotty I have to given him credit for that but the hair is annoying me.” as she pulled at his hair

“Oh that’s right here is the work you missed today Akane.” Said Kaiya handing her friend a small pile of books, “We should be leaving now, I don’t think any of us as she pointed to her three companions want to get sick. Bye, Akane I hope you get better.”

The four girls then left the house. After they left Akane sighed and set her things down on the couch and then collapsed onto it sighing. Yuudai then sat next to her.

“Your friends are very interesting, Lady Akane.”

“Yes, they are. I’m sorry about Hana, Misha, and Rakka they are well…they are the more of my self-conscious friends. While Kaiya is the levelheaded one of the group.”

“Akane.”

Akane looked up to see her father entering the room.

“Yes, dad?”

“Dinner will be ready soon. After that I suggest you catch up on your work and then head to bed. You can return to his world in the morning alright.”

“Yes, father.”

“Good now go bring your stuff up to your room.”

Akane just nodded and picked up her books and carried them up stairs, Yuudai following. When they entered her room Yuudai looked around while Akane walked over to a small desk and set her stuff down. She then turned to Yuudai and said,

“You can sit on my bed if you want. I really don’t mind. I’m going to look over the stuff Kaiya gave me.”

Yuudai just nodded and sat on her bed and let his eyes wander around her room. He was fascinated by all the strange things her room contained. He was fascinated by her era. Yuudai’s gaze then turned back to Akane who was reading over the notes her friends had given her. He could hardly believe that this girl was the one who was the keeper of the jewel.

A little while later Katsumo called up to them that dinner was ready. Akane sighed and closed the notebook she had been reading and left her room with Yuudai following.

Dinner was extremely quite. The entire time Akane held her gaze on her plate while Yuudai has his on her or her father who glared at Yuudai all through the dinner as if he had some sort of grudge against him. When Akane was done eating, she slowly got up and put her dishes in the sink and then walked back up to her room. When Yuudai finished he too got up but was stopped by Katsumo who said,

“I want you to take good care of my daughter when she’s on the other side.”

“Of course I will Mr. Higurashi. I will protect your daughter with my life.”

Katsumo just nodded and then Yuudai went back upstairs. When he got upstairs he found Akane a sleep at her desk with her head on a notebook. Yuudai just gave a faint smile and went over to the bed and removed the blanket from it and put in on Akane. Yuudai then sat down in front of the bed and fell asleep himself.

The next morning Yuudai awoke to shuffling around him. When he opened his eyes he saw a huge blue back pack sitting on the floor next to Akane’s desk. He then saw Akane come walking into the room carrying things in her arms and placed them in the bag.

“Oh, good morning Yuudai.” Said Akane when she saw what he was awake

“Lady Akane what are you doing?”

“Isn’t it obvious? I’m packing for our trip back to your world. I want to be prepared when I go back.”

Yuudai just nodded and sat and watched as Akane finished packing her bag. He then watched her as she stared at the books on her desk as if she was debating to bring them or not. After a few minutes she just shrugged and put one of the books in her bag. She then closed her bag which by now it was moderately heavy but Akane was able to carry it. Once she got it on her back she smiled up at Yuudai, who was now standing and said,

“Ready to go Yuudai?”

Yuudai simply nodded and then two walked out of her bedroom and then out of the house saying goodbye to her father as they did. Then they made their way to the well house and jumped into the well and became engulfed by the sapphire blue light.

Once they reached the other side they began to make there way back to Yuudai’s palace. But as they got closer they saw a strange glow and smoke could be seen in the sky. Yuudai and Akane then ran up a nearby hill that overlooked the palace and the sight that stood before them was horrific. Before them stood Yuudai’s home on fire and the screams of those inside being engulfed by flames could be heard.

A/n stopping there. So Akane’s adventure didn’t have a very nice start. So how did the fire start? How started it? Sorry for taking so long please review and I will update sooner.
