Title: LOVER REDEEMED

Author: Lady Valmar

Genre: Romance, Tragedy, Action

Section: J.R. Ward’s Blackdagger Brotherhood series. Takes place after Lover Revealed.

Rating: Mature

Beta: None

Summary: Cursed Payne, a female vampire, lives only for blood. Her ghardian, Lemour, has kept her safe until the brotherhood learns of them because of Vishous. Will the brothers be her salvation from her curse or will she succumb to the madness that Lemour has kept at bay for so long?

Warnings: There is foul language, sex, blood, gore and BDSM in here. Keep in mind I am no J.R. Ward and therefore my story will differ from hers. I try to follow Canon but for Payne she is not locked up in SV's office on the other side and there is a twist to her...Klavos which I think previous readers have noticed already.

Okay so Payne's love life will be interesting to figure out now...if you don't know what I mean check out the update below. As for Klavos I am still deciding on where he fits in with the whole love life because he needs first to address his identity crisis. lol

UPDATE -02-05-09- : Edited first chapter... I thought I owed you all an explanation for why I haven't continued this fanfiction. I originally wrote this fic way back before I even heard mention of a Payne in J.R. Ward's stories. Originally my character in this story was "Paine" she was not SV's daughter or V's brother. Later on in the first chapter I changed her name's spelling when I got wind of Ward's character "Payne". My "Paine" was an original and had nothing to do with Ward's Payne. When I realized that readers were confusing my Paine for Ward's Payne because I had changed the name to look the same I was very disheartened and felt like I was misleading everyone. So I stopped to consider what I would do with the 8 chapters I had already written with the original Paine and I have finally decided what to do...make a compromise. For my stories sake and for the readers. My Payne will have some canon parts and the rest my original 'Paine'. This is the canon that will be part of her character - she will be sister to V and daughter of SV but that is as far as I go canon wise. She obviously is not sealed in SV's office in this fic so that's not canon but I think readers seem okay with that so far. The rest of Payne will follow what I have already written in the 8 chapters. I think this is a fair compromise to readers and to the writing I have completed because Ward has not written more information about Payne anyways. At the risk of losing readers I had to tell you this or else you'd think I'd cheated out of what you thought the story was about. I think or at least I hope you, readers, will be okay with this compromise and stick around.

Disclaimer: I do not own any characters or ideas etc from J.R. Ward’s book. I just have to say I love her books. So any themes, concepts, ideas or characters not hers are mine and please do not infringe nor steal them. While I welcome praise and criticism, I will not read nor deal with flames and I will report them and/or block-delete them.

Payne no!”

Lemour’s voice carried as he raced to her side. She had pinned a post-transition female to a brick wall and he could sense the fear. Payne licked the young female’s neck and hissed at her. This was the last thing he needed tonight.

He could hear the pounding techno music blasting from the club’s back door entrance. No doubt there were bodies swaying on the club’s dance floor, hopefully none of them would find them in this situation.

“Don’t move. Understand?”

The female nodded her head slightly. “Just stay still. Payne,” He said trying to carry a sense of authority while looking directly at her from the side let the female go. “You’ve fed already, enough.”

Lemour removed the syringe from his jacket. He kept three of them on him at all times. With Payne he never knew when she’d go off the handles. The last thing any of them needed was Klavos free.

Klavos was her other half. Her darker side as he could only refer to it as. With Klavos there were only two things; blood and death. Klavos also happened to be male or at least more masculine in attitude. Payne even smelled male when she was Klavos.

It was all thanks to the Scribe Virgin who had cursed her for killing one of the Chosen. He’d begged the Virgin to spare Payne’s life and in return she’d spat up a curse as retribution for what Payne had done.

He kept an eye on Payne as she sniffed the female before letting her go. As soon as the woman was free, she ran back into the club, ripping open the door.

“Payne listen to me. I need you to fight it. If I have to use this on you I will.” He held the syringe up at chest level so she could see it and he didn’t dare move. There was no telling what could happen with that maniac free. She had been doing better but it was so hard to tell when accidents like this happened. ‘Always be prepared’ was his number one motto since becoming her ghardian.

The threat didn’t soothe Payne’s rage down. She faced him, her tongue flicking out of her lips to slide along them. “Why should I listen to you?”

“I only want to help you, Payne.”

As the silence stretched, he took his first step to her, keeping eye contact. “Payne please.”

She gave him a harsh glare. “Pathetic Lemore, I don’t need your help. Maybe I want more.”

“More what?”

“Blood, what else would I want a ham sandwich?” Payne grinned maliciously, “I do have an insatiable appetite.”

“Pa…Klavos?”

“Perceptive.”

“Please Payne come back to me.”

“For now.” Her transforming red eyes returned to normal and her tattoos around her face stopped glowing. Thank the Virgin, he thought.

She blinked, gave him a sniff then went to ZeroSum club’s backdoor entrance. He followed slowly behind her. He had known tonight was a big mistake but he had missed being around others especially Rehvenge. Most knew the man as the Reverend but he’d known Rehvenge better than that.

After all, even slight sympaths like Lemour had to stick with others like himself. Though Rehv and him only shared a few things in common, like the sympath blood, they were a few very important things.

The one most important being that Rehvenge was also the only person who had the special medicine that Payne needed and Lemour couldn’t get from anyone else. It was the only medicine that kept Klavos in check and allowed her to feed from Vohed, a female he fed from regularly.

Part of the curse was also a blessing because as Klavos, Payne could feed from females. The only way to break the curse was to drink from a male and bond with him. The curse was also cruel in that she couldn’t experience satisfaction even during her needing time until she gave in and fed from a male and bonded to him.

He had tried to convince Payne to pick him but it was useless. The Scribe Virgin was smart. She knew Payne hated males because of what had been done to her and she would never yield.

He didn’t know Payne’s full history but he knew that a sympath male had taken her in and had tortured her mentally. That was partly why the curse had been chosen. She was already half mad and bloodthirsty. He had guessed what she’d done to both human and vampire males before he’d taken her in.

Since be given charge of her, he’d tried his best to heal her but her wounds were not physical from her capturer, they were mental and emotional. He didn’t know either very well. Because of her condition he had only a few close friends at his disposal and none of them knew how to heal her either.

“I don’t know how to heal you Payne. I wish I did,” he muttered under his breath, watching her back disappear through the VIP rope. In the background the song Switchback by Celldweller was pumping through the club’s speakers.

Payne was everything to him since he’d found her that fateful night, being attacked by three lessers. She’d killed six of them with her twin blades but a mortal injury had stopped her victory of the other three.

Even though he was more of a scientist than a fighter, he’d been able to fight them off and rescue her from them. She was such a beautiful female to have such wounds and battle scars. He shuddered as he remembered when he’d tried to clean her up that night he’d discovered the odd markings of something sharp having been trailed down her spine.

The scar over her eye however had been made by her not the person who had hurt her, she’d done that the day after she’d come to his home. Actually now he thought about it, he had the odd feeling, that she had done all of the wounds on her body, herself, somehow.

He also discovered a small tattoo on her lower back. It was a strange looping design and something that he hadn’t recognized at first. He’d searched his private library to find the one book that kept a record of symbols. It had been luck to discover it after hours of scanning through the large book. He learned it was that of the sister’s, a small class of Chosen females who had been a sort of brotherhood for females. They were so old in fact that when he’d asked around nobody had known what he’d been referring to.

It astonished him that females had even been allowed to fight alongside the brotherhood at all. But then the fact that nobody remembered them probably explained why there was no female fighters in the brotherhood today or why they’d forgotten them.

It still didn’t explain why Payne had this symbol on her lower back. Perhaps she had been fated by the Scribe Virgin to be a Sister or perhaps she was a descendent of that class or further still she’d just wanted to be a Sister. In any case he was still researching the ‘Sisters’ when he had free time.

A pair of hands descended on his shoulders. “Lemour.”

Lemour glanced over and cringed at the face, at six foot six with a short Mohawk, Rehvenge was a little intimidating. He normally welcomed Lemour but today the man didn’t look happy.

“While I respect your obligations in taking care of Payne I don’t want any trouble here understand?”

“I get that Rehvenge that’s why I came for more of the medication.”

The vampire didn’t move an inch as he added with narrowed eyes. “Just keep her under control. Come to my office I have a new shipment for you.”

A series of yelps erupted from somewhere further in the club. Heavenly Virgin…he thought before he and Rehvenge looked for Payne. “I’m warning you Lemour.”

When they finally found her she was seated at a booth, in front of Caith, who had a lopsided grin on her face. The two appeared to be hand wrestling. At least she wasn’t getting into trouble.

.......X…...0…...X…...0…...X…...0..….X..….0.…..X.…..0..….X..….0…...X..….0.....

“Do you have what I need?” He asked once they were safely in the office.

Rehvenge snorted, his amethyst eyes narrowing. “More than enough. You’ve got the money?”

“Yes I do.” He yanked the wad of bills from his coat pocket. The medicine alone was costing him fortune; he knew eventually the money would run out. There had to be an alternative but in the mean time this was the best he could do for Payne.

He laid the stack on Rehvenge’s chrome desk.

He seems more uptight than usual. Better get her medicine and get out of here. Lemour thought.

Rehvenge nodded and waved his hand to somewhere behind in the shadows. As they waited he approached Lemour, his eyes still narrowed and his face tight.

“How do you deal with her?” Rehvenge said. “I’ve always wondered about that.”

“Sometimes I wonder too.” Rehvenge nodded his head in understanding.

“Rehv I might need a higher dose next time.”

“And I will have it for you when you need it brother. You know I’ve noticed something about your charge?”

Lemore didn’t like where this was going. Rehv had never asked him about Payne at all. He answered cautiously, “And that is?”

“Her eyes are so unusual especially when she’s angry. In fact I’ve heard of only one female who had eyes like that. Wouldn’t know whom I’m talking about?”

Lemour didn’t like where this conversation was going. “You know you’ve never had much of an interest in her before why now?”

“You’re avoiding my question.”

Lemore mustered resolve and responded confidently, “And you’re not answering mine.”

Rehvenge grinned, his fangs flashing. “Just answer it…please.”

“Wow you said please. I never knew you had that shit in you.”

“I know. Now answer my question.”

Lemour looked away. He wasn’t in the mood for this right now. He’d been careful not to mention Payne’s past with anyone. How could Rhev know about it?

“Are you avoiding my question because you’re afraid of what the truth might mean?”

Lemour glared. “Fuck you Rehv. You’re really getting on my nerves.”

“Maybe your afraid the brothers will find out about her?”

Lemour put a hand to own his face and scrubbed it down. “Why can’t you just leave it alone. And yes, I don’t think I could bear what they’d do to her. I just don’t…”

Rehv put a hand on his shoulder. “I want to help.”

“Why?”

“Because…I’ve got a personal stake in this.”

Lemour’s shook off Rehv’s hold. “Tell me you’re not thinking of making her yours Rehv. Tell me… She’s… She’s not all there. You get that right? That’s what the medicine is for. Dammit I’ve already gone through this shit with that asshole Chiruge.”

Rehv lowered his eyes. “I’m not interested in her that way although I have no doubt that you do and I’m not Chiruge.”

“It doesn’t fucking matter Rehv. You know my history and what kind of shit would hit the fan if…She’s my charge nothing more and nothing less.”

“You’re so difficult Lemour. Fine, maybe it will help if I tell you something you might not know. My…My sister has finally married and I’ve learned from experience that you can’t keep them locked up because you’re keeping her from really living. Since we’re such good friends I just thought I could help.”

“Fuck you Rehv. She needs me. She isn’t well. You know what I shouldn’t have come here.”

Rehv’s mouth opened and he sighed. “Someday you’re going to have to stop trying to control her so much Lemour. You’re only pushing her away…just like I almost did with Bella.”

“I’m not pushing her away…I’m keeping her safe. And uh…will you pass my congratulations on to Bella.”

“Of course…and I disagree with you. One day you’re going to realize it and when you do she may not welcome you back.”

“Oh well thanks a lot Rehv for this lovely chat but if we’re through? Where’s the meds?”

A minion came forward with a small box. “Think about it Lemour. If you’d let me I might be able to help her.”

“Forget it. I’m her ghardian not you. We’re done here.”

Lemour opened the door and didn’t look back as he slammed it behind him. As he made his way to find Payne, he caught sight of a group of people all dressed in black leather with shitkickers.

One had diamond eyes with navy rims and a red sox cap on. Another had blonde hair with Teal sea-colored eyes and the third had golden eyes with the most beautiful hair he’d ever seen.

The flash of silver caught his eyes. It was a long dagger in a holster. Oh Scribe Virgin…it couldn’t be. The one with diamond eyes turned and he froze. The warrior watched him intently then turned his attention to Payne across the way. Lemour took a deep breath. He knew. Somehow the vampire knew who he was.

.......X…...0…...X…...0…...X…...0..….X..….0.…..X.…..0..….X..….0…...X..….0.....

A/N: Lemour and Rehvenge are not brothers but are really close friends so that it would be okay to call each other that. Lemour is a bit weird but you’d be too with Payne as your charge. I’m doing this fic for fun not for profit or anything. Just thought it would be fun to write while waiting for V’s book.
