Disclaimer: Quest for Camelot belongs to Warner Bros. (Not Disney like everyone else thinks, okay?). This story is mine however.
In a land lost in time and filled with quarrels, there was a king who had united his people and brought upon peace throughout England. His name was Arthur, and he, along with his knights of the round table, created Camelot: the kingdom that would unite warring clans to fight for goodness and virtue. But not all were happy with their ruling king.

Morgaine, Arthur's half-sister, had been jealous of her brother since birth for stealing her family's birth right and had planned to overthrow her brother, but she was soon caught and banished from Camelot. Still, fear lingered on that she would one day return to exact her revenge.

Almost a year had passed since Kayley and Garrett had become knights of the round table, but the two had not been on many quests for some time. Not because they were unable to carry out their knightly duties, in fact, they were the best knights in Camelot despite one being blind and the other a woman. No, it was because of family matters that they had to take time off from the round table. You see, both Kayley and Garrett were expecting their first child to be born.

The two knights had settled down in a cottage in the countryside, not too far from Camelot, yet not too close to civilization neither. An ideal place to raise a family, yet if two people were to be stuck together for months at a time, it can get to be quite a nuisance.

“You know, for someone who respects me as a knight, you sure know how to deprive me from doing even the simplest of work around this 'castle' of ours.” Kayley barked as she tossed a basket of garden vegetables onto the table making each one scatter on the flat surface. “You maybe the man of this house, Garrett, but that doesn't mean you can command me to stop what I do.”

“You were outside for three hours, Kayley. It's not healthy for an expectant mother to be working for so long.” Garrett responded in annoyance.

“Oh, so its because I'm carrying YOUR child that you want to keep me locked up and not have me do anything.”

“Its your child too and I'm trying to make sure your safe, so would at least show a little responsibility?”

“Safety and responsibility.” Kayley chuckled in sarcasm, “Yes, seeing how well you were driving that last time in Camelot, I CLEARLY understand your concern.”

Gathering up the vegetables from the kitchen table, Kayley began feeling dizzy from all hard work and heat stroke. Garrett could hear her body begin to shift over as if to fall to the floor and he ran to her side to catch her just in time.

Kayley sighed heavily in Garrett's arms, “Why is it so hard for me to stay mad at you?”

“Because you're married to such a handsome devil.” Garrett smirked.

Kayley couldn't help but chuckle as her husband helped her up. She had to admit that even though he's not a prince, Garrett did have a bit of charm that she admitted to liking.

She smiled and then took his large, but gentle hand in hers and let it rest on top of her swollen belly as she crocheted her slender fingers in between his. Garrett smiled warmly as he felt his unborn child moved about in his wife's tender womb. It was a thrilling excitement that both he and Kayley were to have their first child together and become a family, but it was also a bit frightening as well. there was the scary but real risk of losing the baby, Kayley, or both to birth and illness; if both were to survive, however, would he be able to prove himself as a good husband and father as he had proven himself as a valiant knight to the king of Camelot? Though, what first-time father had never had such worries before?

“Perhaps I SHOULD rest a bit.” said Kayley as she stood herself up, “After all, I AM going to have a baby.”

“Let me lead you to the chamber, Milady.” Garrett said offering his hand to Kayley like a gentleman.

Kayley smiled and took her husband's hand.

It was storming when night fell. Rain poured hard and lightning struck while Kayley and Garrett slept in bed. Something, however, made Garrett begin to stir from his sleep. He could smell the damp air and hear the rain and thunder outside as well as loud banging at the front door of their cottage.

“Kayley?” Garrett whispered trying to get her to wake up.

Kayley only responded with a deep sigh in her slumber. It was no surprise as to how hard she was working that day. Garrett decided then that he should let Kayley rest and investigate what was going on on his own.

He got out of bed, slipped his tunic on, and grabbed his staff in case if he were to defend his keep. Garrett walked over to the door cautiously with his staff held tightly in his hand. The knocking was fierce as his hand felt for the handle.

“Please sir,” the voice of a woman spoke, “I'm sorry to disturb you at this time, but my son and I have traveling for days and my son gets ill very easily. We have no where else to go and I fear his condition will worsen in this weather.”

Garrett had a questionable look on his face as if still trying to process what was going on. Of course, I am sure any blind man who has just been awaken at night to find a stranger at their doorstep demanding for shelter would have some amount of confusion at this point.

“Try to find it in your heart to help us, but mostly, please consider my son's health at state...”

Garrett could hear the shallow breathing and coughs of a child almost drowning out the sound of the pattering rain. He could feel a hard lump in his throat just thinking of the young man growing ill and possibly dying from the cold. As cocky and selfish as Garrett may appear at times, he did have a bit of a soft spot those in unfortunate circumstances.

“Get inside.” he sighed letting the door open for the two.

The woman thanked Garrett as she walked in, carrying her son in her arms.

“Do you have a name?” the woman asked drying herself and her son off.

“It's Garrett.”

“Mine's Morgause, and this is my son... Mordred...”

Okay, so tell me what you think and if I should continue this story. Please R&R.
