Okay, here's chapter 2.

Kayley had been informed of the two guests that arrived that morning. Curious about the arrivals, she peeked into the guest room provided for them. Both had fire-red hair (indeed, these were mother and child) and though both were fair in skin, the boy in the bed seemed even more pale and sickly.

“You don't need to worry; he'll be on his feet in no time.” Morgause spoke sensing Kayley's.

Kayley felt a bit embarrassed that she had been caught spying, but tried stifle her blush and entered in the room.

“Sorry for intruding; I just came to see if you two were alright.” Kayley said, shuffling to the end of the bed as not to disturb Mordred and sat next to Morgause.

“We're fine. My son would've died from pneumonia if your husband hadn't been so generous... not to mention, he's quite handsome.” the woman's ice-blue eyes smirked.

With such a comment from this fair stranger, Kayley wasn't sure if she should feel complimented or jealous.

“So, where are you traveling to?” Kayley decided changing the subject.

“Camelot.” Morgause replied, “Its the only place I'd feel safe for me and son to stay until we get our home back.”

“So, you're refugees?”

“Our homestead had been raided by a horde of nomadic barbarians.” The fire-haired woman said, running her fingers through her sleeping child's hair, “We were hoping to reach Camelot for our King's help and perhaps warn him in case if an invasion.”

“Garrett and I happen to be knights of the Round Table. Perhaps the both of us could escort you and your son over to Camelot.”

“Oh, you don't need too. I don't want to burden the two of you, especially since you're expecting a child and--”

“First off, its an honor for us knights to escort a lady to where ever they're destined, and secondly, we women have survived from baring children for generations and I've dealt with much more risky situations than labor... I'm sure you have as well...” Kayley stated, crossing her arms and almost sitting them on her pregnant stomach.

Morgause looked up with an agreeable smirk. All she should say to the expectant mother was a simple, “...Touche...”

Of course, Kayley had no idea.

“No! You can't go!” Garrett said, trying to stop Kayley from loading oxen onto their cart.

“I made an agreement with Morgause that we would take her and her son to Camelot TOGETHER, meaning both you and I go.” Kayley said grabbing the yolk from the stable.

Garrett sighed, “Look, I'd be happy to take them myself, but I don't think it's best for a woman with child to travel in harsh conditions.”

“Oh, so you'd rather prefer if I stayed home all alone with no protection while you go off on your vacation with your 'girlfriend'.” Kayley scoffed dragging the yolk with

“No, I don't prefer you being alone, but neither do I prefer you getting sick either.” Garrett said walking over to Kayley, only to trip over the oxen yolk that she had been dragging and land into a pile of horse manure.

“And thats another thing; I don't think you'd be able to take care of yourself without my help.”

“Excuse me? Your help?” Garrett said getting up, shaking the dung off himself with disgust, “I've been a hermit for ten years in the Forbidden Forest and I've did fine without anyone's help.”

“Except for Ayden's and you gave him back to Merlin. Remember?” Kayley said picking up the yolk with what strength she could wager. “Who's going to tell you when someone tries to hit you with something heavy?” and with great force, she rammed the yolk into Garrett.

After the rude awakening with the yolk hitting his stomach, Garrett grabbed the other end. “Look, I'd love to play and all, but I wouldn't want to to push out your baby out all too soon.”

“Now who said anything about playing?” Kayley smirked and pushed again at the yolk.

Garrett tried keeping his ground with his feet digging into the earth. “Kayley, you don't need to act so much like a child.”

“Well, with you restricting everything I do around here, I pretty much FEEL like one.” Kayley spouted, thrusting the yolk once more. “Living with you is like living with my mother!

“Well, than maybe you should go to her instead!” Garrett said with annoyance, finally pushing back with great force.

“Ahem!” a voice called out. It was Morgause with her son, Mordred, along side. “I'm sorry to interrupt you little game of tug-of-war, but my son has been getting restless about wanting to go and I too don't want to wait any longer.”

Realizing they were both in an awkward moment, Kayley and Garrett straightened themselves out.

“Well,” Garret spoke, “since you've already got most of the oxen ready, I'll get the rest of the stuff.”

“You may want to change into another shirt as well.” Kayley stated with her nose cringed up from the smell of dung.

“Good idea. I DO stink to high heaven, don't I?”

Yes, I know the part with Garrett tripping and falling into horse poo was disgusting, but of course, I had to add a bit of humor to the scene-- even if it's low-brow. Anyways, please R&R.
