Hi, this is my first digimon fic and maybe my only if you don't like it. It is also my first songfic. I'm sorry I don't use the Japanese names but to be honest I don't feel comfortable using them because I don't really understand them. x
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the digimon or the song 'over my head (cable car)' and I am not making any profit from posting this on here.
Tai watched from a distance as his sister laugh and joked with her friends, she had grown up so much since she had become a digi-destine and even more so now that she was with Davis and his team, but Tai couldn’t let either her or T.K. go, they were always going to be part of his team.
“Are you going to stand there and watch or come and join us?” asked a voice next to him, Tai looked over and saw Sora smiling at him. Tai return the smile, as he looked past Sora he saw a figure also watching Kari and her friends as well as some of the older kids joining the younger ones for a picnic.
“You go ahead with the others, I’ll be there in a minute,” Tai replied, Sora nodded and walked over to join the others.
I never knew,
I never that everything was falling through
“Hey guys,” Kari yelled out as the Izzy, Joe, Matt and Sora made their way over to the 5 new digi-destines, Kari looked between them and saw her brother was missing.
“Where’s Tai?” asked Kari worried, as the older kids sat down.
“Oh he’s still on the bridge I don’t know what his is up to,” Sora replied pointing at the bridge that over looked the riverside where everyone was having a picnic.
Kari looked towards the bridge and saw two figures that seemed to be arguing, “I’ll be back in a minute,” Kari said quietly, getting up and leaving to see who was with her brother.
T.K. wondered why Kari seemed so worried, she was hiding something from the rest of the group and this worried him. He knew Kari hated making people worry about her as she felt she was burdening them with her problems; however he knew if she bottled it all up she’d end up back in the dark ocean like before.
That everyone I knew was waiting on queue
To turn and run when all needed was the truth
But that’s how it’s got to be
“Why are you back?” yelled Tai,
“Because I want to see you and Kari again, it’s be too long?” the man replied
“Never, you left us. You didn’t even say good-bye, not one word in 4 years. Kari was devastated and I’m not going to let you back into our lives just so you can walk straight back out again. It’s just not fair on me or Kari,” Tai yelled,
“Kari’s grown so much since I last saw her, and so have all your friends,” Mr. Kamiya said as he watched the digi-destined laugh and talk happily.
“Did you hear anything I just said,” Tai shouted, hitting his father,
“Yes I did, and there is nothing you can do to stop me coming back. I want to take care of you and Kari as it is quite obvious that your mother,” Tai’s father replied calmly before he left leaving Tai speechless and fuming.
He just stared after his father trying to figure out how his father was going to make Tai and Kari were going to stay with him.
“Tai, who was that?” asked Kari quietly as she watched the man Tai had been arguing with walk off into the sunset. Tai almost jumped out of his skin when he heard his sister’s voice, he had been so caught up in his own thoughts he hadn’t heard his sister approach.
“No-one you should worry about,” Tai replied, Kari was doubtful
“Now let’s go see the others” Tai said smiling putting his arm around his little sister and guiding her back to the others.
It’s coming down to nothing more than apathy
I’d rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who’s still standing when it clears
Both Matt and T.K. saw Tai and Kari try to sneak back into the group without being noticed and failed miserably. Everyone swamped them with questions like where have you been and who was that man and every time Tai said it was nothing.
“Tai, is everything alright?” asked Matt as his best friend sat down,
“It will be,” Tai replied giving his friend a week smile but Matt wasn’t convinced.
Throughout the evening Kari kept looking over at Tai expecting him to blurt out what he was hiding as her brother wasn’t very good at keeping secrets but nothing happened.
However, some how their conversations changed from past digimon adventures to school to what they were doing this weekend and that’s when Tai lost it.
He was sick of everyone always telling him how amazing their weekend with their parents was or that they’d being shopping with their mom’s or went to a soccer game with their dad’s and every time he and Kari would sit and listen, sometimes they would join in the conversation but it was rare as their mom worked nearly every weekend so they could live the life they led and was unable to spend any time with them so they entertained themselves but it wasn’t the same as they only had so much money to spend. He and Kari wished they had more time to spend with their mother and that they father hadn’t walked out.
“Would all of you just shut up for a minute about how wonderful your weekends are!” Tai yelled as he stormed off, leaving everyone else shocked.
Kari got up to leave but Matt beat her to it, “I’ll go after him, he needs to let his anger go,” Matt explained Kari nodded.
She understood that Matt could help Tai more than she could.
Everyone knows I’m in over my head
Over my head
With 8 seconds left in over time
She’s on your mind
