Danny and Lindsay were in the car yet again but now they were more relaxed. They were on their way to the hospital to see Isabella. Upon their arrival at the lab, they had been greeted by a nervous Adam, who told them that Mac and the others were at Jamison’s apartment. About five minutes later they got a call from Don saying that they had found Isabella and that she was on her way to the hospital with Stella. Both of them had been so relieved when they heard this and Danny had seen a visible change in his wife’s demeanour. It was as if a massive weight had been lifted off her shoulders. When he told her what Don had said her face split into a massive grin and she flung herself into his arms.
As he pulled up at the hospital they both got out of the car and he grabbed her hand. They found out which room Isabella was in and made their way to the fourth floor. They got off the elevator in time to see Stella walking down the hallway with Isabella holding tightly onto her hand. As soon as the little girl saw her parents she squealed, let go of Stella’s hand and ran into her mother’s arms.
“Oh, my baby! Are you ok? Did he hurt you?” Lindsay started babbling. Her daughter buried her head in Lindsay’s shoulder and clung to her neck. Both Stella and Danny grinned when they saw the mother and daughter. After a couple of minutes Lindsay pulled back and looked her daughters in the eye. “Are you okay?”
Isabella just nodded and then she realised that her daddy was standing next to her. “Daddy!” She practically jumped from her mother’s arms to her father’s. Lindsay hugged Stella and said: “Thanks for bringing her to the hospital. What did the doctors say?”
“They said that there’s no sign of rape. She’s just in shock but he didn’t touch her or anything. The doctor said that there are some forms he needs you to sign.”
Both Lindsay and Danny sighed at this statement. No matter what was happening, hospitals always expected you to spend hours filling out forms. Danny said “Stel, thank you so much for everything. If you don’t mind, is it alright if we stay with you for another couple of days, just until Mac releases our apartment.”
Stella smiled “Of course it’s okay. I don’t mind. Besides there’s a ton of ice cream in the freezer that I might need some help eating.” At the word ‘ice cream’ Isabella raised her head off her daddy’s shoulder and smiled. Ice cream was her favourite food except for when it was mean and gave her brain freeze.
While they were talking a doctor had come out of the room that Stella and Isabella had come out of earlier and had stopped at the group, watching how the little girl interacted with what he presumed were her parents. “I take it that you’re Isabella’s parents?” They nodded. “I’m Dr. Cousins. As I said to Detective Bonneserra, there are no signs that apart from the obvious emotional and psychological trauma I can’t find anything to indicate that Isabella was abused in any way. But before you leave need you to fill out some forms.”
“Sure, Stel would you mind taking care of Izzy until we get back?” Lindsay asked her friend.
“Don’t worry. Mac just called to say that they were on their way here so we can go meet them while we wait.”
“Okay, Izzy, sweetie, mummy and daddy need to go have a talk with this nice doctor. So can you stay with Auntie Stella until we get back?” The three year old simply nodded and held her arms out to Stella, who wrapped her arms round the little girl.
As Danny and Lindsay followed Dr. Cousins down the hall they heard Stella say “Honey shall we go see if we can find Uncle Mac, Uncle Flack and Uncle Sheldon? They can’t wait to see you again.”
After another half an hour Isabella started to nod off to sleep. Noticing this Lindsay took the spoon from her daughter’s hands and picked her up. She walked into the spare room and laid her down on the bed. Lindsay covered her with the blanket and stood, watching Isabella sleep.
She jumped slightly when she felt two strong arms wrap round her waist. Sighing she lent back against her husband’s strong, hard chest. They just stood there, contentedly watching their daughter’s slow even breathing while she slept.
A/N: This was the very last chapter of this story. Hope you've enjoyed the story. Unlike my other stories, I'm not planning to do a sequel. Anyway please review.
