Chapter Two-She Has Your Eyes

Lily walked into the office marked ‘Dr. Gregory House; Diagnostic Medicine’ Four people were sitting at the table looking over files. The young woman at the table was first to look up.

“Can we help you?” she asked politely. Lily noted that she was probably only a little older than herself.

“I’m Lily…Lilly Parker…” She introduced. “I work for Dr. House,” she clarified, feigning confidence as best she could.

“He hired you?” a man asked, her had very short, blonde hair and seemed older than the other three.

“No…Dr. Cuddy did,” Lily said, standing up a bit taller.

“Oh, well,” The other blonde man stood up and walked over to her. “Welcome,” he had an Australian accent and a bright smile. “I’m Dr. Chase.”

“Dr. Foreman,” the black man at the end of the table introduced himself, but did not stand up. The woman did though and walked over as Chase had.

“Cameron,” she said, figuring Lily had figured that she was a doctor also. “And that’s Dr. Willson, the head oncologist at the hospital.” Lily shook both their hands and smiled.

“It’s nice to meet all of you,” she smiled. “When do I meet Dr. House?”

“Post-pone that as long as possible,” Dr. Wilson said.

“Why?” Just then, a man stormed in, moving fast for someone with a cane. He came in, walked to the desk, put and envelope in a drawer and locked it, then he went to the table and slammed the file in front of the team.

“Fourteen year old has blood, migraines, and uterary cramps…” the man said.

“What’s so special about a teenager with her period?” Cameron asked. As they read the file, the unnamed doctor wrote the symptoms on a white board.

“The fact it’s a teenaged boy,” he said smartly. Lily raised her eyebrows. “Ideas?” no one said anything, they simply flipped through the file. “Anything?”

“Genetic mutation? He could be chromosomally combined as a girl, but created with the anatomy of a boy…” All eyes were on Lily. “Whet?” she asked defensively.

“Who the hell are you?” the doctor said.

“Oh, you’re Dr. House,” Lily finally understood.

“I didn’t ask who I was, I asked who you were.”

“Oh, Dr. Lily Parker,” she shook her head, liking introducing herself finally as a doctor.

“Oh,” he said. Just ‘oh.’

“So this was Kira’s daughter.

His daughter.

“Okay…” Foreman said, breaking the silence. “I like Parker’s idea.”

“Me too,” Cameron said. “Why don’t we take her down to the lab and check it out?”

“Yea…” Chase added, noticing House was still staring at Lily with that look as if judging her. “Let’s go,” the four of them leaving. Willson got up and walked to house.

“That’s Kira Parker’s kid, isn’t it?” Willson said.

“How’d you know?” House asked.

“She has your eyes,” and with that, he left to tend to his patients.
