Summary: Rose finds a crystal lying inside the TARDIS wardrobe. The Doctor examines the lost object until the crystal opens up to release a body of an old companion.

The Forgotten, Stay Forgotten

Since the Doctor decided that Spain would be their next destination, Rose popped in the wardrobe for a few moments to choose something suitable. When she finally picked out the clothing she wanted, she posed in front of the mirror and smirked. Well, at least it’s better than the seventies clothing she found. As soon as she was about to step foot outside the wardrobe, something sharp but light, smacked the back of her head.

Rose let out a sharp cry and turned to look at what hit her. Instantly, she found a glowing blue crystal. God, I wish the Doctor would stop leaving his toys around the place. Rose thought annoyingly and examined the unusual object. It was a very peculiar looking crystal indeed; it changed form and colour every five seconds. She thought it’d be best to leave it to the Doctor’s own judgement.

The Doctor tinkered, pushed and pulled the controls and switches of the TARDIS console. He happily skipped and jumped around the panel like a mad man, listening to a song from the 80’s and singing along with the words. Rose had her eyes on the shape shifting object the whole time, as if it were memorizing her, drawing her deep to look into the heart of its beauty as it read her mind. She walked the metallic steps of the (one of) the main TARDIS consoles.

“Hello Rose!” The Doctor beamed brightly. He looked at what Rose got in her hand, then raising his eyebrow in wonder. “What’s that you’ve got there?”

“I... don’t know. I found it in the wardrobe, well, it smacked my head at first then I found it.” Rose told him, holding up the crystal in front of his face. “I was hoping you would know what it is, since you’re the expert in that general area.”

“Where did you say you found this, Rose?” The Doctor grabbed it out of her head, pulling out his black rimmed glasses to have a proper look at it.

“In the wardrobe, why?” Rose questioned.

The Doctor whistled at its attractiveness. “I haven’t seen one of these things in over a century. But what’s it doing on my ship? The last time I’ve seen them was during the time war, every one of them were destroyed because of their purpose.”

“You mean to tell me that that crystal’s alive.” Rose said shockingly.

“Yes... and very much alive at that. My race was going to use these to flee from the time war, but the Daleks managed to destroy them before we even got to their home planet. They’re kind of like an escape pod or a lifeboat. I can’t believe this little one is still living.” The Doctor retorted, his voice sounded miles off when he explained. “They’re known as Drax.”

“Drax?”

“Named after a very old friend of mine from the Academy. He saved them at one point, at the same time; these species were nameless, so the main one decided to call themselves the Drax, naming themselves after their saviour.” The Doctor smiled slightly. “I’m just baffled about how it got here.”

Rose shrugged and sat back on the chair. The eccentric Time-Lord sat down beside her and gazed deeply into the lights of the crystal. His eyes flickered as something from inside started to move, and then sparkling dazzlingly in all sorts of colours. “Rose, look at this.” The Doctor shoved it in front of her face. “The Drax has a living organism. Someone is inside, trying to get out.” He pulled the crystal away from her face as quickly as he could and drop it on the floor.

“Stay back!” The Doctor cried and took a large step away from the object; he held onto Rose and pulled her beside him.

The crystal moulded itself into different shapes as quickly as their eye can see. It levitated from the ground, still changing and spinning endlessly. Sapphire and crimson coloured lights laminated from the inside. The Doctor and Rose shielded their eyes with their hands, to reflect the blinding light. With a mighty booming sound the crystal opened wide and a manly figured shot out and landed under the console, banging his head as a result.

The Doctor ran towards the stranger on the ground but then taking a small step back. The brunette curly headed man placed both hands on his head and moaned about the pain. “God blimey, that’s gonna hurt. Ow... now I know how it feels to get a gong banged at the side of your head.” He stopped for a moment to look at the strange environment. “I say, where am I?”

“Hay, are you alright?” Rose asked.

“What?” He turned around and looked at the moving console. “It... can’t be...” He muttered in complete shock. “Not the TARDIS.”

Rose eyes widen. “How do you know about the TARDIS, who are you?”

“I should be saying the same thing to you, old girl.” The stranger said, he looked at the Doctor and folded his arms. “I don’t know... Am I supposed to know you from somewhere? You just seem oddly... familiar.”

“Hello Harry.” The Doctor murmured painfully.
