Your dark wavy hair,

Cascades down your shoulders,

Glimmering in the pale light.

You hug me with your roughened hands,

That worked to feed the family.

You clothed me well,

Giving me the best you could buy,

One day, I will be the best,

Scoring full marks for my tests.

I will not let you down,

I will not give up,

I will work hard,

Just to see your smile,

Its all worthwhile.

Now as you tug me into bed,

You give me a kiss,

Making me feel at peace.

As you peer into the room,

You see your child, curled up in bed,

Sleeping peacefully.

You have completed your duty,

As you beam happily.

Day after Day, I love you more,

As time goes by,
