Takes place in the six year and because Dumbledore is my favorite character and he should never have been killed off, is not dead or going to die. Ever. He not gay either, because that addition to the HP series was announced after it was finished, and really doesn’t affect the series anyway… Will not follow 7th year story.

Prologue: A Wizard’s Urgency

The Price of Reikai and unofficial secretary for all-things-his-dad-should-but-didn’t-deal- with Koenma, was sitting at his desk. The most remarkable thing about the desk at the moment was that you could actually see the woodwork.

Koenma had finally gotten around to the clean desk policy. It was the clean floor policy that eluded him now, for his office floor was littered in untidy stacks of paperwork that had previously covered his desk.

Sighing, he closed his eyes and reached into a stack that contained the papers George categorized as ‘urgent’. Prior to contrary belief, Koenma did have a filling system. It consisted of untidy stacks of work sorted in four genres: “waste of time”, “boring but necessary”, “urgent” and “we’re doomed, call Yusuke”. Luckily there were no papers currently occupying the space of floor reserved for the last type.

Closing his hand on a piece of paper that felt thick and heavy, he withdrew it. It was no wonder it was heavy. The envelope and the letter inside were made of parchment, not paper. Koenma mentally groaned. Parchment addressed to him in beautiful kanji calligraphy meant only one thing: wizards. And wizards only ever wrote to him to ask him for favors.

He opened the envelope carefully (still remembering the time he received a scarlet letter that screamed at him before busting into flames) and read the epistle:

To the prince of Reikai, Koenma-sama:

The Nippon Ministry of Magic has recently received request for aide from Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts School of witchcraft and Wizardry in Great Briton. Unfortunately, we are not able to meet the demands of such an appeal. In the interest of maintaining peace in the three worlds, we ask that you respond in our stead. You undoubtedly have professionals that can undertake such a dilemma. The details are enclosed.
